Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

*-Grabs popcorn,

But seriusly, even if you are doing better in this game, doesnt take away the truth behind what he said, in fact, What the heck does a service record have to do with knowing the Meta game of Halo?

Well, his notion that deaths are all a fault of my own I strongly contend. I have played so many online shooters in my time, and I do regard myself as above average in skill level (as I'm sure most of us frequenting sites like this are). The shit that sometimes happens in Halo Arena is beyond the scope of meagre skill. If you consistently get spawned in the most awkward of positions and in the direct line of fire, there's very little you can do about it, no matter how skilled you are, and the expectation that the player should be good enough to overcome such unfair disadvantages in the first place just doesn't make sense to me. Don't get me wrong, I myself take advantage of the spawning, hell I've killed more people from behind than I can possibly count, but I'd rather that not be the case.

Read through the posts in this thread, dozens of them complaining about how they're dominating one round, and getting demolished the next. You think that is by chance, or because they suddenly stopped playing well the next game? No. It's because external factors have as much of an outcome on how games play out than actual straight skill. And I think that's where the balance needs tweaking.

I know some might get annoyed at my complaining, but I really, really want 343i to re-design the spawn system to be less cheap and cheesy, and to just make a few changes that I think will just make it more fun and less senseless.

Not being funny dude, but according to the stats, I'm a better player than you. Add to that, I have seven hundred and ten times the play time time invested in the multiplayer compared to you. In-fact, you've barely played it much at all if your GT is accurate. Maybe you should get back to me when you have?

So I need to play Halo 5 more in order to recognize that the changes you suggest would alter halo at a fundamental level? Ok

I've played and witnessed enough of the game and franchise to know that your suggestions would be good for the game. Simply put, you want to completely upheld the halo meta.

Sorry the stats from my shared account don't make me worthy of your conversation.

lol I guess this is the part where I challenge you to a one on one...

The skills required to be good at halo are different from other shooter... That's what EVERYONE has been trying to tell you this whole time.

Holy shit, we're looking up people's stats for skill arguments again!! Halo is back guys! It's back!!!

And you are Gold?
LMAO, according to stats you are complete shit at this game. Maybe come back when you git gud?

Okay. Halo is back. This is amazing. LOVE IT.

Anyways, I looked up my stats too (http://halotracker.com/h5/player/BluePhazon1337) and I noticed that it even shows the progress for the next rank. For example, I'm 40% towards Plat 4 for Slayer.

Is there a way to see that in-game?

Look at this right here, this is in 2 pages. No response from 343 about this nonsense. Not only is there a limited amount of maps, the map rotation sucks such ass that people still haven't seen all the maps available to a playlist. I don't get how they could have messed up this bad. They are sitting on 4 fucking maps for God's sake that work with Team Slayer and yet they are nowhere to be found. They haven't even given us a reason as to why they're excluded.

Well, I really wasnt expecting a response from 343 today when I said that.

Ever since Halo 3 rank, every time I did good in one match and horrible in the next I just assume that I m not that good compared to my oponent, I have never blamed the game for me doing bad, Lag? yes, but, for example in Halo 3 BR with poor shot registration, spread and leading shot, I never said, "bah, I did bad because the BR is garbage," because you know what? Others are doing good, and some always do it consistently, you know, those legit 50 or Halo 2 30s.

Yeah but my e-peen is bigger than your e-peen. Let's measure them next to each other just to be sure.

Feels like home.

The only way to settle this is with a 1v1.

Nibs, I'll give you Spartan Charge. That needs to be nerfed.

I'll also give you "readability" issues where players can show up anywhere on these maps, and I'd blame that first on the maps and second on Sprint. Radar I don't think has much to do with it, as a full team calling out will work around that.

But everything else frankly sounds like you're doing something wrong. I haven't seen the "out of nowhere bullshit deaths" you talk about, and then you used Destiny as an example of the opposite the other day when that game is built around "out of nowhere bullshit."

Maybe you could provide some video evidence to keep the discussion going. I don't care what your skill level is when it comes to discussing the meta, but I can't say I see this gaping hole in how the game plays currently.

Went to go put together a few custom game types to play with a group online, some of our favorite classics that we've been playing for 10+ years.

Come to find out, I can't even make Oddball. What in the actual hell has 343 been doing? How is the 5 year old Halo Reach still touting more and deeper features and gameplay than this?

No race. No oddball. No Infection. No Griffball. Insanely limited Custom Games options (less than Halo 2!!).Forge isn't here yet. No Firefight. No campaign matchmaking. No file share.

Like...all last week I kept telling myself "at least the multiplayer and the gameplay mechanics are really great", but now I'm just sitting here in complete shock of all the things missing from this game.

I hate it. I hate that I hate it, and it becomes even more frustrating to be stuck in a vacuum with no one else to vent to other than GAF. I want to tell Frankie and 343 how much they let me down, but it doesn't really solve anything. I hate knowing that Halo 6 is suddenly not a "no-brainer" for me. I hate having to be one more voice in the crowd complaining about the game, but I guess there it is.

Ugh, hold me GAF. I didn't want to admit it to myself but now I just hate Halo 5. I hope backwards compat brings more players back to Reach because I'm just gonna play that.

I really love the maps in this game.

I think the boss fights are the worst thing that's ever been in Halo. Even worse than Halo 2's boss fights which is a goddamn testament to the shitty designers/decision makers at 343 I guess. How this bullshit ever made it into the game after the trainwreck that Bungie presented in 2004.... I am absolutely flabbergasted that ANY SINGLE PERSON thought that was a good idea. Fuck the Warden Eternal. Worst element of any Halo game that I've played and possibly the shittiest boss fights I've ever enountered in a first person shooter, EVER.

Otherwise, I'm really pleased with the campaign, lol.

You can run straight at a player, Spartan charge them, and shoot your gun almost immediately after. All they need to do is put a delay on it.

Way too easy to abuse the lunge in a CQB gunfight.

I'd agree, but the number of times I've melee'd air in this game is frustrating. People be earnin' those Spartan Charges.

Should be a delay after the charge because it knocks the other player backwards.
And as you are running at a person, they don't even need to move their reticule to shoot you. I can't even count all the times I've shot a person to death as they ran straight at me. And if I noticed them late? I shot once then dodged and finished them off as they ran past me. Maybe it's because I can aim and dodge at the same time, but I think spartan charge is fantastic to use and simple to counter.

Also, there is nothing better than someone behind me who could easily shoot me in the back to death but they get greedy and try to spartan charge. Jump/back boost and the tables are turned.

at this rate im kinda hoping the new maps, i think promised 15? roll out sooner rather than later.

like not as a pack. just throw one or two more in player please 343

I honestly think the game shipped very incomplete. They had a deadline to meet so they set a realistic goal and polished it up with the intention of adding standard features later.
I dont agree with this practice at all (release a finished game when its ready) but at least what they shipped actually works this time around.

Meanwhile I'm still waiting for the full game. It's very barebones in some areas right now which is causing some people to start to burn out and it's only been out for a week and a half. Need more gametypes. Need maps with vehicles on them. Need more playlist variety. Need more map variety. Need BTB. And where are the legendary weapons?

I sure hope they don't cheat with their "free maps" and offer us primarily forge maps. That would be dishonest. A high quality forged map here and there wont hurt but it theyre the majority then I'll feel really mislead.
If they want to 'cheat' they should repurpose one or two of the warzone maps as BTB maps for standard gametypes. I was told that Apex7 was the successor to Death Island, so let me play it like Death Island!

You can do that with regular melee as well. What's the difference lol.

so whats the most amount of req points anyone's gotten from trading in? I traded in almost everything and got 30,000

I got over 10k just trading in common cards till i had only 10 of each.

Anyways, am I the only one who can't get used to the way meleeing/spartan charges feel in this game? It just doesn't feel right to me.

Ooo pretty.

Wish they'd put it in the game. Maybe under Service Record or something
Even if they add the generic bar they had in the beta I'd be happy. The little red and green arrows are meaningless. I already know that I lost or won.

I do like the circle around your current rank indicating your progression to the next rank though.

They've been working on Warzone maybe? Late addition possibly to suck wallets dry and keep maps free?

IDK... it's slightly embarrassing though. I know id feel a little weird with the lack of multiplayer maps, modes and Forge most of all.

You can do that with regular melee as well. What's the difference lol.

I think some people get super butthurt when they get dropped on and shoulder charged. They cant have had that happen skillfully... because they were totally paying attention to their surroundings or totally heard the distinct "clunk, clunk, clunk... wooooooosh!" of an incoming sprinting spartan... yet still got plowed... so it's the shoulder charge that's OP and not their skill that UP. (thats under powered for those not in the know)

I think this is the best halo multiplayer yet

The one I've played the most (possibly because now I have GAFfers to play with).

Just played my first ever Halo match since Halo 2. Did Free For All at Regret just to see what's it all about. I got 3 kills, 5 assists and died 21 times with an Elite controller. This sucked.

Gonna do Warzone next.

Can't expect to come back since Halo 2 and wreck. Keep at it! Arena is fun (although I have yet to play FFA).

You know what people did abuse? Armor Lock and Sprinting with sword, in Halo Reach Countdown Arena Slayer in season 1.....Fun times....

I have the weirdest nostalgia for armor lock. Like, I know it was broken, but it was also kinda fun.

I wouldn't mind them bringing back more past weapons and past armor abilities for reqs as long as they kept them out of single player. I mean, flamethrowers, jet packs, armor lock. There's a lot of shit they could add back for reqs. Would probably lead to more req pack purchases for them, too.

So they are taking a longer time to get to you? Even better, more time to shoot them to death.

It's not hard to do. All you do is run in erratic diagonal movements while Sprinting and then charge while aiming at the player. It's very difficult to counter when the player is already that close and the Spartan doing the charging has the advantage of weapon readiness after wards.

That's my problem with it. I've abused it enough to see how dumb it is especially when paired with an SMG.
