Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

In a Warzone match I picked up an AR with a scope and damn that thing was insane. They could add some additional replayability to campaign by letting me take some of my REQs there. It would be nice to have those kind of options unlocked got customs as well.

Honestly it's why I miss loadouts and Spartan Ops. Campaign would be game-breaking, probably (how do sandbox designers deal with the fact that people can bring a shredding AR or sniper BR into the campaign?) but the more arcade-style layout of Ops would work well. Plus I'm sure S2 or whatever would have been a step up from S1 and 1.5 with the lessons learned.

Went to go put together a few custom game types to play with a group online, some of our favorite classics that we've been playing for 10+ years.

Come to find out, I can't even make Oddball. What in the actual hell has 343 been doing? How is the 5 year old Halo Reach still touting more and deeper features and gameplay than this?

No race. No oddball. No Infection. No Griffball. Insanely limited Custom Games options (less than Halo 2!!).Forge isn't here yet. No Firefight. No campaign matchmaking. No file share.

Like...all last week I kept telling myself "at least the multiplayer and the gameplay mechanics are really great", but now I'm just sitting here in complete shock of all the things missing from this game.

I hate it. I hate that I hate it, and it becomes even more frustrating to be stuck in a vacuum with no one else to vent to other than GAF. I want to tell Frankie and 343 how much they let me down, but it doesn't really solve anything. I hate knowing that Halo 6 is suddenly not a "no-brainer" for me. I hate having to be one more voice in the crowd complaining about the game, but I guess there it is.

Ugh, hold me GAF. I didn't want to admit it to myself but now I just hate Halo 5. I hope backwards compat brings more players back to Reach because I'm just gonna play that.

It is all part of the longevity plan™ bro, calm down.

In reality, yes, this game is starting to show how little it has.

I really want the master chief controller because:

1. It looks awesome
2. Comes with a visor for halo 5
3. Has the headphone jack (i still have to use the shitty headset that came with my X1. Most uncomfortable POS ever created).

But it's 70 freakin dollars :/

Do you believe that Orion succeeded because it was, at it's core, broken?

That original line is a good example of 343's ability to throw out lines that have you going "wtf are they talking about with this new character development," only to reflect on it halfway through the game and be like
RLcs_Qg_X.gif
"who hurt you, chief"

They had so much time to make Halo 5. It is kinda odd.

Hey, REQ packs, though!

Let's see what DMR's I get in my Silver REQ Pack while I eat my dinner:

They've been working on Warzone maybe? Late addition possibly to suck wallets dry and keep maps free?

IDK... it's slightly embarrassing though. I know id feel a little weird with the lack of multiplayer maps, modes and Forge most of all.

It is totally so they can drip feed maps and modes and build a long tail for the game. If everything was in the package on day 1 they would have nothing to release and talk about over the next 3 months and the game would be on auto pilot with a declining user base. Welcome to the evergreen generation. Just look at Destiny and how every week there is a new story being written by the press about what is going on in it.

I swear as well that all of this is designed to force players into trying other modes while they wait for what they think are their stalwarts. Because I can't play Empire in Team Slayer, if I want to try it I have to leave that mode and try something new.

like I said earlier, this is exactly what I don't understand about halo 5. yes a lot of those things will be patched in one day..hopefully. But so far the only thing we can play is that barebones mp purely focused on competitive gameplay
which is FUN, but nothing I want to play 24/7
or warzone which is no replacement for the things you mentioned.

I really love halo and halo 5 is definitely a good game. but the state in which they released the mp makes me sad and no amazing weapon balance can turn it around.

so

who's getting Black Ops 3

I hear they have splitscreen and more than 3 standard gametypes on more than six maps

already pre-ordered on my ps4 >>

See also: Splatoon where they actually did this up until August. Drip fed content that was already on disc to keep people playing.

For Halo 5 I think that they're still working on the MP though, it's barebones right now but I can see it being expanded on. If we don't have Oddball by 2016, I'm going to be disappointed.

Speaking of Breakout. It's the mode i'm spending the most time in now. I'm bad at it, but it's so unique in flow and "LAST MAN STANDING" always gets me tense weather I'm playing or watching.

I love breakout but I had to quit it. I needed more practice getting headshots in SWAT. Plus, you get so little REQs in that mode. Like it takes 2 to 3 times as long as SWAT unless one team just gets dominated, yet you get maybe 100 more REQs a match in it. It's something they really need to patch.

How about H5 gets a mode called "Flood" in which you survive wave after wave of flood while using points or REQs or whatever on a small-ish map

It will be CoDs Zombie mode, which is really all i want from a CoD.

Also they are likely being super careful about MP and testing due to the unfortunate issues with MCC. One bad mistake can ruin the whole thing and build a believable narrative that the game is totally broken.

Looking at my stats in Halotracker I'm above avg player. Nice...

It's that Gears feel of having One life.

Well, I really wasnt expecting a response from 343 today when I said that.

Well or course not specifically from today, but it's been talked about since they released the maps available for each playlist and as the past week has shown, stuff is already getting stale. Not enough modes and not enough maps. People are more inclined to move on from it with the state that it's in.

Urgh!

I'm not far in the campaign, just finished mission 5, but man now I remember why I hated Halo 4's story so much again! >_<

Ignoring the fact that I don't remember much of Halo 4's story (cos it was terribly told), here's some questions:

-Why is Halsey so important? I don't mean generally, I mean in the context of the first mission. Covenant have her, and humans and forerunners want her. How did she get there in the first place? Why is she missing an arm? Who the f*ck is Jul?

-This Jul person, he's got ties to forerunners? Am I supposed to know who this person is?

-Halo 4 related more than anything but I still don't know the answer, why are we fighting Covenant anyway, we had a truce with them after 3 yes?

-What is the perpetual devotion? The Domain? The Reclamation? Lots of sci fi buzz words getting thrown around and I don't know what they are.

- Why is Cortana alive? Why are some people not surprised at this fact? O__o

Agree so hard, solid gameplay ruined by this shit.

It sounds like you went from Halo 3 to 5 and skipped 4 entirely.

Go watch a playthrough of both Halo 4 and Spartan OPS and then come back with these questions.

bosses need to hand out points based on damage done not last hits. Having your team take a boss down to nothing only to have it snagged from you from a single snipe shot is just bad. I'm guilty of doing it to but still, wth.

Hmmm.

I can't play halo 5 for more then an hour without having to stop because I get bored, the game is great but the keeping-me-hooked power has gone.

Having a DMR or BR with a scope for Warzone would help but instead I get a SMG which is suppose to do damage to vehicles but it's no different then normal.

Also just going by voice chat in most games i'm being put into american servers.

I've kinda learned to like it since it makes managing the other team far more important than dealing damage to the boss.

Most of that is explained in Spartan ops.
And let's be real. Who actually thought that
Cortana was dead?

You say that...
But I was called an idiot so many times for trying to evidence how she wasn't dead. There were a lot of folks who were convinced she wouldn't show up in another game lol

Ah, seems silly to me to keep such important story behind a co-op only mode but fine, I'll search for it >_>

As for spoiler, I kind of did actually, thought they'd be brave and stick to their guns. Nope >_>

I've finally come to the realization that this is the first halo where you need a full team of players who know all the callouts. Mainly because of how fast the game is, how weird the spawns are, and how small the radar is. If you don't have a full team communicating with you the whole time you're not gonna have much fun.

Definitely the most frustrating halo yet to play solo.
