Well on the bright side... at least when Sakura shows up in story mode as a bad drawing, people won't freak out that she has a finished character model that won't actually be playable until 2017 at the earliest.
The quality of them though is the issue I'm having now.

The biggest fighting game series folks
lol what a way to put things
Hot Akuma with beard.Search your feelings you know it to be true. Ryu and Akuma are two tops taking out their sexual frustrations out on each other.
Put that in still images.
the problem is the sketchy looking stills don't have any style. they just look shoddy
sf3 had cool/stylish portraits that were sketchy looking
You make it sound like all that money the casual base brings doesn't mean shit.

There's no way that's a placeholder, why would that be a placeholder? Troll Ono at it again?Better be a placeholder. In this day and age that's a low quality effort. No way to spin it.

You're comparing the key character art seen every time the game is played to one of many pieces of art that need to be produced for story mode, that many players will see less than a handful of times. The style they're using allows them to produce a high volume of resources for use in the story mode at a reasonable cost, especially if they need to go keep producing this content with DLC releases.
In any case, it's still far superior to the low budget anime in SF4. And we're getting story-specific character models which is a far better use of resources than wasting budget on story CG bullshit, no matter the quality.
It means less and less with each release. By engaging with the FGC/Twitch/esports communities etc they can reach a large audience of people who are "hardcore" enough to care about the game. These groups are
a) tastemakers that casuals will follow purely because of "credibility" anyway
b) more and more able to sustain major releases on their own (see: every successful esport that doesn't give a shit about advertising to a casual market)
It's not 2009 anymore.
It's wonderful that SFIV revived the market enough for them to take more risks on SFV's starting cast than with the very safe SFIV cast, but I'm still not sure how far they can go. I doubt casual players care about tastemakers or e-sports in the slightest, and everytime I think of Capcom creating games just for the hardcore, I have memories of the bad old days of Capcom Fighting Jam. There's marketing enthusiasm to be had for grabbing the hardcore, but there's infinitely more money in making sure you also make a game that everyone would like to play.It means less and less with each release. I still think those sales help a lot. Especially for day 1. FGC continues it, casual helps with the large lump in the beginning.

Oh, no slight intended for our lord and savio(u)r Urien! I'm just talking about Capcom Fighting Jam as a symbol of a time when Capcom had such a narrow and diminished base of people playing fighting games that they were forced to pull together a Frankenstein's Monster of recycled assets and ancient sprites for lack of any real funding or interest, with a resulting game that sold as poorly as 3S.What's wrong with Capcom Fighting Jam? It had Urien DA GAWD, the greatest fan favorite.
Meh I don't mind. It would also be understandable if they keep adding new story mode content for every new character DLC.

DLC alts where every character is Ono cosplaying as themi wont rest until there's an Ono announcer pack
It looked like a MUGEN made game. Overall gameplay is fine and soundtrack is great. Background stages are fine if taken on their own.
Just the overall package was underwhelming.
i wont rest until there's an Ono announcer pack
Rating Summary: This is a fighting game in which players engage in one-on-one combat with a large cast of human characters. Players mostly punch, kick, and use special attacks (e.g., fireballs, flying attacks, electrical strikes) to deplete opponents' life meters. Some characters use weapons such as claws and chains; some special moves are depicted in brief cutscenes with slow-motion, dramatic close-ups and opponent reaction shots. Combat is highlighted by cries of pain and frequent impact sounds. Several female characters are depicted in low-cut, form-fitting outfits that display large amounts of cleavage and/or buttocks. Female characters' breasts sometimes jiggle during character selection. The words a*s and bastard appear in the dialogue.
They fixed the glitch
They fixed the glitch
Sweet, so the 1P side also jiggles now?
Need more announcer options in non-anime fighters.Harada announcer where he just talks about wanting to play tekken instead.
Was Zangief in it? Because that would ruin it.It also had Karin AND Alex.
Perhaps it's the greatest fighting game of all time.

Welp, there goes the chances of it being the perfect roster
Personally I'm expecting him to be a lot like Tao Pai Pai

Which would be awesome
Stop hating on Gief.
Although he does look less interesting in SFV.
He's being sarcastic, and Gief looks more interesting than ever imo.
No no green hand has always been the stupidest move and makes no sense. I want it to stay away, even if it's useful.Looks wise he needed anything.
Still needs green hand even tho he got air spds and whatnot.
The happiness I would experience if Capcom made Ryu being gay canon. Like...even if it's in passing like:
Chun Li: "Ryu! I'm glad you were able to make it!"
Ryu: "I'm happy to see you too. I'm going to miss John while I'm here, but he promised to take care of the dog while we win this tournament."
CAPCOM PLS
"Hey, my names Ryu. You come around here often? What do you say we go out back, and you can ponder my fist if you know what I mean."I'm not sure if Ryu would know what to do with a man or a woman in that situation. He's too busy pondering his fist ...
"But why do you fight Ryu?"I'm not sure if Ryu would know what to do with a man or a woman in that situation. He's too busy pondering his fist ...
