Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Really bro, I didn't know that. Thanks for the knowledge bomb you just dropped.

I'm sure you guys haven't had one instance when you did something like that. You guys play solid the whole time.

You all are ridiculous, he knows what the radar is and what it does.

No we don't play solid the whole time... The difference is we don't blame the game for our own mistakes.

Rant time.
I have played 7 games in row in which it was either 1 or 2 against 4. How hard is it for 343 to allow people to join in the middle of the game. Is there a valid reason why that was implemented. I love the game but its shit like this that makes me jump back to Destiny or COD.

Because too many Halo fans are too concerned with being an MLG pro and "proving" themselves in ranked games. Join in progress has been a multiplayer standard for years now, but Halo is the only big franchise that shies away from it, as if having lopsided games is better than joining mid-match.

Has nothing to do with being pro, it's a shit experience. I do not want to be launched into a game that's already underway.

To start, we’re removing Orion, in its current form, from all playlists so that we can take some time to remove and patch map exploits as well as make additional improvements to the map before re-adding it where appropriate. In parallel, we’re also working on multiplayer spawns (and any exploits that arise) on existing maps as well, based on information from feedback and videos you’ve submitted as well as internal playtests.
It's gone.

We has join in progress in halo 4, it worked like shit. Halo is not like those other franchises. It has equal starts, and map control and weapon control matter. I can drop into Destiny, pick whatever weapon I want, and even eventually get a super. In call of duty, I can drop in when I want, it doesn't matter where because there is no weapons to pick up, I just spawn, I can equip a sniper, an SMG etc.

But in Halo, if I join a match midway. Not only am I more than often joining a losing team, but I'm put with AR/Magnum against the other team which probably has a few BR at this point, probably controls the high ground or key areas and may even have power weapons. Seriously. If you don't see why it sucks for Halo, there's no point arguing. It's not about proving yourselves as Halo pros, it is about not wanting to join shitty matches midway through.

I don't want this at all, unless of course there is a separate playlist for social slayer. I actually love the way that the game matchmakes after each game , which probably also seems outdated to you.

Very random, but I work at Sequence and I worked on Fall of Reach! Mostly screens, consoles, holograms etc. I have some stuff here and I will upload more soon—more process stuff and "raw" screens :)

Nothing beats getting a shit spawn (sandwiched between two ghosts) when you burn an expensive req card.

I have to admit, I bought BO3 to check it out. Halo is my groove but it's already really repetitive in regard to maps and whatnot, variety is the spice of life I guess.

Doesn't even remotely compare to the suck that is playing 1 or 2 against a full team for the duration.

There's no join in progress because people care more about their personal stats than having a good experience. Buts that's what the e-sports/competitive crowd wanted in the arena, and they get what they want this time around.

I still think the match should end when someone bails or disconnects. Its pointless to punish the player(s) left on the gutted team, and a victory over such lopsided odds shouldn't count anyway.

Join in progress also isn't a good experience ... To me, being forced to join a ranked match that is half finished is punishment.

But your right lopsided matches are not fun either. Hopefully the bans will push quitters away from the title for good (before lopsided matches chase of the good sports) That AND there needs to be a social playlist that actually has JiP.

Why is it punishment? You're helping other players who need it, you're allowing a broken match to be more fair, and it can still be competitive, though it shouldn't count for stats.

Its still the same game, and you've got a balanced set of teams. The alternative is to play a match where you get double or triple teamed for the duration.

But yeah, this fight has already been had more than a few times over. Its solvable without JIP though, so there's hope. How about every time a player leaves mid-match, that team gets to vote on whether to stay in the match? Anything besides penalizing the remaining players would be nice.

Wanted to squeeze in some mp before COD tonight but last 3 hours have been constant disconnects. Guess it's just me, haven't seen anyone else mention it.

No, join in progress is bad because the last thing I want to do is join a game that's already been decided for the most part just to lose so I can go back to the search lobby and join another game that might be in progress and so on and so on. Join in progress works in something like COD or battlefield because once you find a lobby you stick with that lobby until you leave since there's no skill based matchmaking. So in those games you'll really only run the risk of joining a game in progress when you search for a new lobby. In halo however you get matched with new people every game (even Halo 4, which had join in progress, was like this) so it doesn't really work. Plus once you add in the ranked play it gets really annoying to join a game in progress since wins and losses actually mean something.

Why these map additions were not there at launch, I'll never understand. At least Arena is getting more maps in each playlist.

Why is it punishment?

It's punishment 1) because I enter matchmaking expecting to play a full game. And 2) because more often than not, i'll end up on a team that is losing severely, and/or has conceded all map control.

The broken match might be more fair to the victims of the quitter... But it isn't fair to me (the joiner) to be in a screwed up situation. "Equal Starts" is a staple of halo. And there's nothing equal about coming into a situation where you don't get a fair shot a obtaining leverage (map control).

It's also unfair that I launch matchmaking expecting to play a match that effects my rank, only to find out that it won't be the case.

They tried JiP on H4 and it didn't work.

Maybe if they had an opt-in setting. Where users like yourself could volunteer to be available to replace quitters...

Grinding for hours and then opening packs and getting alternate versions of armor that you not only think are ugly, but already had a version of, is the worst feeling. All I want is the Noble armor set :(

FFA needs to be decreased to 6 players.

+1 to this

Also I thought JiP was horrible during Halo 4 while soloing. I was placed in games half over more times than I care to remember. I am glad they kept it for the Big WarZone stuff and would not mind it so much for BTB but 4v4? I'll take my chances and love starting fresh every time.

Oh man, your work is awesome. The small details on things like consoles and holograms really help flesh out the scenes and reinforce the story and lore.

Looking forward to anything you put out.

I'm glad they're removing Orion and adding the rest of the maps to slayer but they need to make Ffa 6 players, remove breakout from Team Arena and not add Pegasus to slayer.

Both of your points are 100% true when you're severely outnumbered, but not always the case with JIP. I've frequently joined games in progress and then won.

I still see in the multiple answers above a reliance upon personal stats and winning more than providing a space for everyone to have the best chance at a fair match. Which was my original point.

I remember discussing this all when 343 announced they were ditching JIP and was told that PC games manage quitters just fine through penalties. Why aren't those penalties working here? Are they not stringent enough?

wait I thought fathom was already in team slayer? is that the underwater map with the railgun in the middle on the bridge crossing?

Thank you 343i for adding maps into the hoppers so quickly, I was expecting to wait weeks for a change...

Yea but the other team is already bending you over in those 1v4 instances, no one should have to join in on that.
