Am I weird for not being particularly interested in my character's build or the perk tree in general? Like, I don't think leveling up is going to be as exciting for me as finding new armor and crafting new guns. Definitely more excited about customizing my gear rather than my build.

Amazon says they are expecting to ship today. Would be amazing if it arrived Monday, but Amazon pre-orders almost always arrive on release day for me, never earlier.

Not that I'm complaining.

Well it's the biggest part of character progression in this particular RPG, so... A bit, I guess?

But hey, different strokes!

Me too I am going to max hacking and lockpicking early and hope for the best. Most bethesda games are too easy later on anyways, maybe it will be harder if I take non-combat perks early.

Question about SPECIAL skills. With higher INT, you get more EXP. Does any other SPECIAL perk give something to this effect, aside from the actual perks themselves?

Because from what I understand, even if you only have one perk in INT, if you have 8 SPECIAL points in INT you get more XP than if you had, say, 3 points in it. Is that the only stat that works like that? The others seem to just be perks that unlock, not some behind-the-scenes EXP multiplier.

Hope I worded this correctly.

Well, yeah INT is the only one affecting EXP gain.
Strength affect how much you can carry and your melee damage, Perception your VATS accuracy, Endurance your max HP and how many AP you drain from sprinting, Charisma affects dialogues and prices when trading, Agility your max AP and sneak ability, Luck affects loot rarity and Criticals recharge rate.

Every SPECIAL has its own effect, perks are something related to them but different.

Same. I was also going to play on hard and take Lone Wanderer since I'm not a fan of being followed by AI in the majority of instances. I'm planning on having 4 points in everything and then boosting the rest via bobble heads.

Got paid and pre-ordered for my xbone this morning! CAN'T. FUCKING. WAIT!!

EDIT: I keep trying to build a character and I just can't decide on the stealthy-ninja-melee-thief type or nerdy-lucky-smart-sniper type. Too many cool perks to choose from!

Yep it was great , and a basic element of a RPG game.

Fallout 1 and 2 had no item degradation or need to repair and were just fine as RPGs. Also guns don't really degrade when used, it was an annoying mechanic that enforced collection a bunch of the same item since weapons would degrade so ridiculously fast

So I haven't received my e-mail from GMG with the key, but I found my product key on their site under Games/Steam Games after logging in. Activated and ready to roll. ;) Should be there for everyone I imagine, whether the e-mail has been sent to you or not.

I like you. I absolutely hate weapon degradation in games. For me part of the fun is finding that perfect weapon and then KEEPING it. I love survival games but weapon degradation is just annoying to micromanage.

aww I actually liked that, made things more tense and choose different weapons

I liked it (I guess?) in F3 and NV, but I don't miss it at all in F4. There's a metric ton of crafting and modifications in my inventory now. Holding on to a bunch of extra copies of a gun just for repairs would have sucked up too much carry weight.

At this point, I'm guessing the difference between PS4 and Xbox One versions is negligible. If it was noticeable, we'd have heard something by now, right? I still don't know which to preoder, and I'd like to get in on that Best Buy preorder promotion.

The sreamcountry.com site has been, off and on, running a decent FO4 stream. If you go to their site now, you'll see a very interesting FBI message. Lol

Get your point , Iam talking about games like Souls or Witcher 3 where you find that fantastic weapon and it degrades but you can fix it with skills and tools. No need to have tons of the same.

Potentially stupid question: can you activate the season pass on Steam before the actual game? I got my code from GMG earlier but won't get my physical game until Tuesday.

Reddit user is going ham with early copy and testing out different names, to see which ones are spoken out by NCP's; https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3rq939/codsworth_name_test_see_if_your_name_works/cwqm5t5

Edit: Not all tested names on that list, browse all comments to see if one you want is in; https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3rq939/codsworth_name_test_see_if_your_name_works/

I never create myself in RPGs, but my name is on that list and it would be cool to hear NPCs directly reference me...

Nope. I tried that earlier and it didn't work. After that I went and checked my GMG library and saw that even though I'd only been emailed the code for the season pass, they had my code for the main game in there too. Check it out, you might have it too.

The Game Collection [UK] are not dispatching the game until Monday, more information here:

Heart sank. Ah well, no waiting on the dispatch page now. I appreciate TGC being transparent, and if its that way for them it will be for everyone else. For me all it means is working a tonne on Sunday/Monday so I can enjoy Tuesday.

Looks like Bethesda should chase up brick and mortar retailers if they're that fucking bothered, they've massively failed in keeping it under wraps in any case.

They vastly overestimate Royal Mail though. Even with 1st class, one day just isn't enough, and they're probably causing untold stress for TGC and others having to process stock and ship it out within a day. I wonder why this is solely a UK issue, as we've had warehouse pics of FO4 popping up on Reddit for a good week now.

This is now a great thread to find out peoples first names.

On an entirely unrelated note, i wonder if Dean is in there.

can anyone confirm if Jonathan as a name is in the game?

Not on listed of confirmed names, I'm not sure if it has been tested.

I forgot to put into PasteBin that ALL names work both genders, according person doing testing. Added new PasteBin link with this info to my original post, here it's with said disclaimer; http://pastebin.com/nqiuRcXh

I know that my Dutch name is not going to be in here so I hope that the English version : Henry : will be one of the names that they've recorded :)
