Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

They should find a way to incorporate daily challenges without breaking the game.

Ie. Non of the "get x number of kills with this gun"

I just don't know how they would do it unless it's tied to wins or some harder to achieve medals (Ie. Get 5 double kills, get 5 perfect kills)
They did it in Reach and 4 just fine. Some were tied to campaign, some multi.

Everything must be competitive so the pros are satisfied. And we all know only pros play halo <3

What is the point of a social Playlist anyways? Are people worried about getting a shitty rank... You can play socially in ranked mode... It will ideally match you with other people playing at that level.

It is barely a mission. But it probably cost about 3 million dollars to make given how insanely impressive that environment is.

I really enjoyed that mission even though it was just walking around and exploring but it was neat to get a break in the action to take in the lore. I'm not much further past that so I hope there is more

People wanna wreck noobs sometimes. Same reason people hated the skill based matchmaking in CoD AW.

I don't understand why it matters if it's ranked or not. You don't have to play any differently.
I just drank a bottle of red wine and really want to play some halo CTF now...but I can't because I won't play ranked with reflexes influenced by alcohol. So no I won't play now. If I could play in social playlists I could do that.

The same when I just want to relax/are tired etc. Or if I want to try play different than usual

I don't like warzone, so this is not an option.

Getting a bit fucking ridiculous in all honesty. De proz!!

That's all that is going to be left if they don't take their fingers out of their ears.
For a second I thought you are angry at me lol

Play...socially?....in...ranked?

What?

But on a serious note, there's times where I don't want to have sweaty games all the time, so I'd hop into a social playlist to stroke my e-peen.

The point of a rank is to show everyone how big your Halo e-peen is, but there's times where I don't wanna let that peacock show and let it relax.

That over simplifies the issue...

First of all social playlist usually include game modes that are a little to random to be in ranked playlists... For example, should a game of Fiesta be ranked? GrifBall?

Also, the stigma associated with playing ranked alters how you play. Maybe you want to experiment with new weapons, but don't want to bring down the rest of your teams ranks with your trial and error. Maybe you've been drinking. Maybe your significant other/sibling/buddy wants to play using your account, but you know they are terrible.

It's not just about being uncomfortable with your skill level.

Back when I was a young whipper stapper, I used to drop into the occasional social game, just to unwind a bit.

Showing a Rank or not isn't important to me. However, I have really appreciated the skill based mm do far. It has been a great addition.

I don't wanna play with people goofing around nor do I wanna play with those who are better than I ever hope to be.

Social would be ideal for the people that don't want to feel like that slayer match had a million on the line. Plus they could finally let us choose where we matchmake. Not everyone gives a fuck about their rank good or bad..

A social playlist could help to keep people I think.

Why is this belief still being spouted? I'm an admittedly BK now and I want ranks. It's for me, it's not for pros. Competitive games need rankings. It tells you where you stand, where others stand and is also a good indicator if you're improving.

If you don't care about ranks, then it shouldn't matter whether you have a silver emblem near the playlist or a diamond one. Believe me, I get the tension at having to play ranked, but that's because we've become so coddled by other games and even the last few Halos where participation was all that matters. You see it all the time now. Gamers are just scared to play ranked because they don't want to be judged. It's why Spartan Rank, aka your time invested into the game is front and center.

But who cares? It's a weekend/week playlist. After that it's gone and something else will come. Internal skill tracking will still function the same. I mean, you're still going to play the same or have the some ability whether it's social or ranked.

I hate over aiming and i'm on speed 2 right now, this terrible acceleration has to go 343i it's really bad.

The game will eventually "click"

I play on 4 and literally, the game started to come together 2 nights ago.

This was the first Halo that I ever played when I went into MP and went "wow, I'm actually not good at this."

After about...10 hours, it came together and I feel very confident again in encounters and have no problem being the aggressor.

I have so much more trouble getting that last shot in for the kill in this game than in MCC. It can get pretty frustrating sometimes. :/ I didn't realize how much I rely on making small aiming adjustments in Halo until this game came out.

This is similar to my experience. Had a very rough time the first couple of days, but now it's pretty good minus my occasional issues to get the finishing shot to connect sometimes. MCC still feels much better to me, though. :/ There's a weird weight and accel to the aiming in 5 that feels off from the previous games.

Oh man you totally did not get what I meant and have not read my replies after that..

I care. But I think social unrankend matchmaking should be a thing.

I am literally pulling jack shit from REQs, and if I ever get something remotely decent I get a shit spawn and lose it.

Wish they just added price tags to armor..

People don't like playing people who can kill them consistently, lol.

You guys ever think maybe the bronze and silver tier people you want to shit on might enjoy not having that happen to them anymore? Heh

I never get anything good from these REQ packs. Why would you spend real world money knowing you'll probably get nothing but 10 mongoose, 5 needlers, and 3 ghosts?

Was I supposed to get the Teishen Raiku armor already?
Some say yes and got it already on launch day..
I haven't seen a req pack yet and still have not gotten my pre-order stuff

I get your guys points on ranked, I too wouldn't want to drop a rank because I decided to play some drunk slayer.
Yay you understand me! Playing drunk is so much fun but not when I drop a rank and see it the next morning lol

All previous Halo's have a much more obvious aim-assist, it's reduced in H5.

But yes, there's still that weird slow drag for me when trying to move my reticule diagonally.

This doesn't excuse the terrible aim acceleration though, or the sudden burst of turn speed if you move the stick on the X axis over 80%, the low aim assist I love but the control in general is annoying.

Yeah, we have feelings too! *sniff*

I personally never had that acceleration issue. I just have issues sometimes with the reticule seemingly dragging too long and not letting me aim upward correctly for the headshot, but it's pretty rare now for me.

I have no issue fighting anyone in a pistol or BR fight and feel very confident in winning, versus what I felt initially, which was pain and fear.

I care. But I think social unranked matchmaking should be a thing.

I read what you meant, but it's more a general thing. Not wanting to play ranks says more about YOU than it does about how it's 343 wanting to develop for 'T3H PR0Z'.

It's the simple truth. People are just scared to be judged and don't want a visible rank. There's nothing stopping you from playing exactly how you would have in a social playlist in a ranked one, except ones own neuroses regarding the importance of rank. So it doesn't matter if you're having an off day, whether you're drunk on wine etc. Just pick the playlist and start playing.

Social playlists would kill their entire investment in arena and the new ranked system, because everyone will just congregate there. It's why Arena failed in Reach, it's why social playlists in Halo 3 stole a lot of players from ranked. In the end, you had some of the most unbakanced teams in social because there wasn't that extra layer of skill matching and ranks.

That burst of speed allows for accurate aiming and fast turning. It takes time to adjust though.

I think this part is very true and am very happy with their decision.

I don't believe you lol

Sadly I got Empire on my 7th game lol

Also: No radar is god-tier, completely changes the game for me. Plz 343 make this default.

The player mentality is completely different in a ranked match or social. It's just the nature of the beast. For people that want to play solo, it's a complete hassle going against premade parties and then having someone quit 50 seconds into the match. Social will be a great playlist for people that just want to play without the added pressure. If people want social, the 343 should give it.

Yep, I would have bought armour
Yep same here. Instead I've just come to accept that I'll never get the Helljumper helmet while this game is still relevant. If I wanted RNG I'd go play destiny.

Minus that and the weird aim acceleration though, absolutely loving the game.

I do understand that the aim assist is greatly reduced in 5, and I like that! There's this immediacy I feel with the aiming in MCC that just isn't there in 5, though. I have adapted for the most part, but it really does noticeably worse to me, or at the very least makes me feel pretty inconsistent. The other day I switched from a game of H3 Swat to H5 Swat and H5 made it feel like there was like a half second delay before my aim would actually start moving. I'm hoping that they at least tweak it in some way. I have seen a lot of people comment on it.

Does anyone else miss the projectile physics from 3? I always felt like that added an extra layer of depth to the shooting mechanics, especially in something like SWAT. I think the new movement mechanics could have made having to lead your shots a bit more interesting now that one can boost strafe in any direction at a moment's notice.
