you can see your feet in fallout games, correct? totally forget.

also, bump: can you start out on the hardest difficulty? haven't played a fallout game in years. need that good loooot.

Nope.

There will be a mod eventually. I'd be surprised if the mod doesn't come to consoles.

Anyone know if the Idiot Savant perk is any good, yet?

"Randomly earn 3X experience for any action. The lower your intelligence the greater the chance."

Randomly? And how low does your intelligence need to be? It's so damn vague.

Yeah, I wish they gave me actual percentages. The vagueness is fucking annoying.

Gonna maybe have to do some testing before I actually start my character.

I'm going with an idiot savant build early on because that's when it'll be most valuable. My INT is at 2, which is low but not too low.
I'm going to have at least a 5 or 6 INT so I can't tell if that perk is worthless to me or not.

Totally. I'll probably have to make a save before I get that perk to test it.

anyone else doing a stealth/sniper build? i'm assuming perception, agility, and endurance are most important for that.

Damn, I planned to play with zero HUD, but turning down the transparency of the HUD also affects the overlay that appears when looting and shit.

So, in other words, don't compare the game to other recent games in the industry because Bethesda is in its own bubble. I really can't wait for the review thread, prepare your popcorn because there's no way this game gets critical acclaim with the official footage we've seen (I didn't watch streams). The new dialogues and constant VA forced on you are two factors that will absolutely tick off one or two points. The characters still look horrendous and plastic. The animations are not impressive at all. And this is coming from a fan of Fallout. I'm lowering my expectations because everything I've seen so far isn't spectacular. Without Obsidian on board, you just know the writing won't be on the level of New Vegas. The lack of factions also hurts. I could go on and on as I feel they ultimately dumbed down the Fallout experience. Of course I haven't played it, maybe I'll be surprised, but I'm speaking from the official coverage we've seen so far.

I would think it fair to judge progression of a studio by comparing it to other games from the same studio no?

I've always found this weird. Don't people subscribe to the threads they want to read? I practically never go to the actual gaming board view, I just check the subscribed threads page.

e: sorry to hear you got spoiled, though!
Hope it wasn't my post

i never use the subscription, comment on threads and just use the neogaf plugin to search if i got quoted or not. I normally stick to steamgaf so i don't really need the subscription

Thanks! Character creation looks quite good
God. I can just imagine those awful, awful anime type models being modded into the game. Ewwww.
Always preferred the mods that enhanced the basic game when it comes to characters textures etc. As it is the characters look okay. Significantly improved over Skyrim.

... Wow. That's disappointing. Can I tell everyone my name at least :( ? So they know who killed them
So much for that feature. Thought there would be more behind it.

There seems to be a rumor going around that your companions all say your name, but the earliest earliest statements have always been that they got the voice actor who does Codsworth to record over a thousand different names. Since he can be your companion as I'm guessing they recorded conversation dialogue with all the different names as well.

talking shit about my waifu?

Why should we?

Because it's the last game that came from these developers, and basically the only worthwhile graphics comparison to make. It's Bethesda's best looking game so far.

You can either accept that their games aren't ever going to be the best-looking titles in the industry and play them for what they are, or I suppose you could spend more time complaining online.

pre-load was a lot shorter than i thought (PC). not sure how long it took because i went to sleep right after it started, but i was surprised to see it finished. black ops 3 took all day. maybe something's up with my connection or whatever

now i wait SIGH

So, 2 hours played and I am taking a break for today, was a long day.

So far my impressions.

+ female voice actress is doing a mighty fine job, I like her very much
+ It's Fallout, alright
+ shooting feels good
+ 3rd person view is nice while exploring, but shooting with it is and looks sluggish
+ atmosphere is nice, I am not very far
+ DAMNIT TODD. I wasn't going to do any housebuilding stuff, but I did that for 30 minutes out of my 2 hours. It's weird to control, but you can definitely get into it
+ the IQ is really clean

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- frame rate problems are there, mostly when entering buildings. I thought the intro sequence you see in the trailer was very sluggish and that continued in the vault. It got better when I left the vault, but I can notice the drops frequently
- Draw Distance isn't very good
- animations are really underwhelming, in one dialogue she held the weapon really weird, like it's glued to her hand. (There is a gif of that vault guy where you can see that happening with the clipboard).

These are my impressions so far, I am excited to play tomorrow, but I am now too tired and I don't wanna miss any story stuff.

If you have any further questions, please ask me.

Been in a vault of my own, protecting myself from irradiating spoilers. Just a couple of questions about this game:

- Does FO4 has a level cap like FO3 did?
- Can you respec your skill points at some point of the game?

Sounds like your typical Bethesda game.

Can't wait. :)
