Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Warzone is amazing. As a terrible 4v4 player thank you 343. Slowly improving, managed 10 kills , 9 assists, 2 boss takedowns on that round. Still died 25 times tho. Sad that my best contribution may well just be to stay in a base and hide :-(

Happened to me today, final kill in Shotty Snipers.
 
Game felt soooo good last night, so massive props to 343i for fixing that huge blunder on the weekend with the connections. Good turn around. Had solid games throughout, BUT, did notice a few people sometimes glitching about the place, not sure what that was about but it happened in a few games. Maybe one guy was downloading as he played? who knows.

What I do know is, you have to premade in this game, with minimum 3. So many shit players in Diamond, all the way up to Diamond 3 who are just really, really bad.

I got graded in Gold because my premade buddies were all Diamond when I started, so I was playing against "better" players while I learnt the game. Now that I'm Platinum I regularly stomp Diamond players, I'm talking going 15-7, while some have gone 3-14 against us. That's....not very good lol.

Is the ranking just whack?
 
Having played a bit of Shotty Snipers now, does anyone else think the bullet magnetism is way too high for the sniper? Despite the fast movement, I've had shots I know I didn't hit.

Nah, the Platinum/Diamond doesn't mean much when you can't be de-ranked until next season. If you get lucky with your placement matches you will have a much higher visible rank than your matchmaking CSR is once it's been corrected by subsequent losses until the ranks are reset. Not sure if I like it or not, I quite like not having to stress about losing too many ranks which makes solo queuing a lot more relaxing than it used to be but it also makes the rank lose some of its meaning.

Tried other games, nothing. But once I start Halo 5 matches, lag.

I've been researching the issue, and I see threads in various places where others are having issues as well, but I'm not sure if it's a large enough issue where 343 has eyes on it.

I really want to like the game. I really want to PLAY the game. But for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. All my other games are fine. Connection is fine. I just don't know.

What's your ISP, general locale and setup?
 
CTF in this game is really great.

Marking the flag carrier temporarily with damage is great for non-communicating randos.
Having the pistol and the ability to drop the flag is sweet too.
Flag tossing is awesome.
The fast return times are great too.
 
I think the flagpound makes capping on Truth a bit too easy. Not sure if flag should be able to thrust, kinda makes the whole idea of you needing to man down them really well and have your team escort you a bit less important.

Just a little unnecessary casualization IMO.

It's why people think Halo 3 Valhalla is the best gameplay combination of that map, because you can waltz by people once you're at a certain range and not worry about getting pinged. Thing with that is though, when you get a Spartan Laser and a Hog on the same team, that's good game for the other team because the mobility is buns and the range of combat is burgers.

It's a matter of taste, really. I can understand why people enjoy that, but personally I'm more a fan of Halo 4 Ragnarok because the pings are balanced by the increased mobility/defensive options. It's why I'll probably enjoy Halo 5's version of it.

I don't think "casualization" has anything to do with it. Gameplay just feels better when the objective carrier isn't a limited tank that can't do anything on their own.

But its like giving Oddball carrier a pistol. That would be p weird, no?

Having the objective is supposed to limit you. Isnt the pistol enough? I don't even think flag carrier moves slower in this game do they?

I don't know I'm too old for this kind of thing.

The flag carrier does move slower. 80% of the base movement speed, I believe.

I remember when Halo 4 came out and the flag carrier did extra damage with the pistol. My K/D was so good.

I'm in the camp that believes the flag carrier should have no offense.

The purpose of OB is to hold the objective for time as opposed to moving it to a certain spot, so it's a different scenario. Mobility and offense as the objective carrier being limited for the OB carrier makes more sense since turtling is the point.

Also, the objective already limits you in CTF because you can't sprint, you get a KILL waypoint over your head if spotted, and you can't use power weapons unless you expose your position. I think it balances out. And you're only in your 20's breh.. Age is only a number ;]
 
OMG I'm so sick of randoms in Warzone Assault. Less than a minute into the game and the attacking team already has the garage half captured because my team is sitting back at our spawn and trying to snipe the attackers in the garage with pistols. Like, WTF.

NAT: Open

No other devices running on the network when gaming.

Currently using a Comcast Arris TG862G modem and router.

In the threads I have been reading, some people had mentioned that the Arris hardware is just no good.

I’d believe the issue were to be related to wifi issues or the router in general but I just don’t experience lag outside of halo 5 matchmaking.

Very strange, would like to avoid messing with new hardware for just one game, but we’ll see. Still looking into trying other things.

I'm glad Shotty Snipers won the first week of voting for the community playlist. Now I know never to vote for it again.

Seriously, the maps on this game are awful for this playlist - and the shotgun needs some serious work.
 
Did skill matching just stop working or something today? All my games today have been stomps. Just finished one particularly fun game where my teammates went a combined 9-41, holy shit. One dude dropped an 0-15 bomb.
