Anyone else see static in their vision?

OP

I also have moderate tinnitus too from firing a 24 gauge shotgun 22 times without hearing protection so I wouldn't look like a pussy in front of my veteran uncle.

Never again... it ain't worth it.

At night, yes. Especially in the dark. Goes will well with the tinitus.

Funny, this apophany could result in an epiphany.

There could be a correlation... I don't remember seeing static before I developed tinnitus which is barely noticeable. I hear up to 16kHz, and it doesn't really bother me. Maybe I've developed a type of synesthesia for all the high frequencies I'm not hearing?

White noise is a blessing.

It used to happen when I was younger, just very short episodes of tinnitus hitting randomly through my normal day, I had the high pitched noise in my ears and my vision started to fill with television like static. I don't know why or how, but it stopped sometime after high school.

I have tons of floaters. They are more visible when I'm tired for some reason.

Also my vision looks like this when I wake up every morning, this one goes away after a bit tho.

If you have this many floaters that could point to any number of serious, life changing, eye conditions.

You should get checked out by an Ophthalmologist just in case.

I do see a very faint red/pink/green noise when I close my eyes. When I was a kind I remember being amused at seeing my brain trying to find images on it, but as an adult it's just noise.

When I look at a a clear blue sky, I can see something that looks like thousands of very tiny bright pink/green "particles" that move in endless brownian motion. They don't look like floaters (I have a couple of those) but they don't look like the shut-eye noise either (it's nowhere dense enough).

-- EDIT --
I'll be damned, it has actually a name: Blue field entoptic phenomenon. It looks almost exactly like this:

YUP! You're talking about visual snow and I've had since I was about maybe 7 years old. I went to a ton of eye doctors and neurosurgeons when I was younger and they had no clue what it was or what to do. I eventually just came to live with it and barely notice it until I pay attention to it. My visual snow gets pretty intense in the dark too.

So is this when the OP figures out he is actually a android.....crap I said too much ..... I mean Of Course Everybody see static in their eyes you're clearly a normal human.

So I've been seeing static in my vision all my life. I thought it was normal, just what everyone else sees. It's not bad, doesn't affect my life in anyway but it's always there 24/7 whether my eyes are open or closed.

My friend thinks I have something called Visual Snow. Looking it up it seems pretty much like what I have, I can't find anything else really like it.

That's pretty much what I see with my eyes closed and with my eyes open (minus the solid colour background).

Any other Gaffers in the same boat? Or am I just sitting peacefully in an eternal visual hell?
I have it.

I've had it all my life, there is no cure. And it's exactly what you described.

Yes, light or dark, doesn't matter. I thought everyone had that. I can't even imagine what life would look like without it. :P

Now i'm jealous that I don't get to live out FFX every day.

No static at all here btw.

One of the strangest visual effect I have is occasionally when I wake up in the middle of the night my eyes are not adjusted yet and it appears all my walls are covered in strange moving runes when it first happen it freak me the fuck out.

Here we learn how everyone on Gaf seems to have this rare condition, including me.

See, this is really weird to me. Growing up I knew this shit was super rare to the point that trained medical specialists had no idea what the fuck I had. Eventually I found some medical symptom forums for people that suffered from visual snow and was like "nice to know I'm not alone." But, then one day on GAF some dude mentioned he saw "static vision" or whatever and I was like "no shit, me too" and then a bunch of other people chimed in and I was like "WTF?" This super rare phenomenon is apparently widespread among the GAF community, go figure. I also have grown up for a strong disdain to medical professionals due to me having rare conditions like visual snow and them just shrugging as if I made it all up.

I also want to point out that as a kid I figured I was seeing like The Force or Chaiwhatever from DBZ and could harness the power. Alas, despite many attempts, that shit never turned out to be true.

Now i'm jealous that I don't get to live out FFX every day.

Nah dude, it sucks.

Nah I have a floater and this is not that, just some weird eye adjusting thing every morning.

I didn't realize this wasn't normal. I can see it all times if I pay close enough attention, but the it's only obviously noticeable when I'm looking at something dark (like the night sky when camping).

Could be what's called a "scintillating scotoma"

There. Another oddity for everyone to realize they're not alone

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scintillating_scotoma

it's similar to https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/Scintillating_scotoma.gif

Except much smaller than the image shows and more of them like I said it's almost like the wall has unidentifiable text that keeps on changing and it covers my walls as they are solid green color and so I guess it's more noticeable.

Yes. When I close my eyes its all static. If it try hard I can break the static and do images but its hard. I kinda wonder if i didnt have it if i could get the images to stay. Its like my head loses focus becuase of all the motion. It goes well with my the ringing in my ear(ear buds suck),.360 degrees of chaos.

Didn't know this was a thing. I figured this was normal. Has never affected me a lot though. Only really notice it in the dark.

In many instances, this is literal neural noise.

The amplitude is very small so we can only hear/see these things when there's not much in the way of sensory stimulus.

If the intensity ratchets up, it may be a sign of some physiological damage - in the case of hearing, nerve cell damage to the cells that pick up on vibrations in the inner ear could be the cause of tinnitus.

The cause of significant visual snow would be harder to guess at.

Flashers and floaters occasionally. Static only right before I've passed out and the 1 time I got knocked out in the boxing ring.

I hope that's an animated gif *rubs eyes*

I got that after a car accident when I was young and I would see it often in the sky and the dark.

To this day I see it when it's dark or focus on it and it comes to me easy, but I can't say I see it in the sky again.

The best way to describe it is is that white-blue-green static that used to plague some electronic ads in baseball game TV showings.

Dont know what flashers are, will research in a sec. But i get static when i shut my eyes, esp if its tightly. Looks like fireworks or as if im staring up at night stars, but whenever i try to focus on them or look in their direction they change.

I have this one floater i dont see it a lot but every so often. Same guy. I always thought that it was just a scratch on my eyeball due to a certain poke in my eye from years ago.

Another issue with my vision is when i stare at solid patterns that fill my vision(carpets/wallpapers/etc), kind of like when you focus on a 3d magic picture, i begin to have residual trip effects (atleast thats what i think it is as i dont recall this from prior times in my life). Its like the onset of when i have taken mushrooms and the patterns move/ buldge/bubble etc. do others get this (having a history or none at all of mushroom use?)

I've pretty much always had static-y looking visual snow when in complete darkness. I've had a floater that looks kind of like a snake since I was very young which I usually only notice when looking a large expanse of the same color like a blue sky.

Also, I've found that when I'm almost asleep in darkness and a sound suddenly surprises me, I see a bright light with a kind of zigzag pattern.

Oh, squiggly line in my eye fluid. I see you lurking there on the periphery of my vision. But when I try to look at you, you scurry away. Are you shy, squiggly line? Why only when I ignore you, do you return to the center of my eye? Oh, squiggly line, it's alright, you are forgiven.

This semester of Uni I have had visual snow really intensely. It was comorbid with tinnitus, long sightedness, auras and trails around lights. On my GPs recommendation I've had to apply to discontinue some classes it was so bad. Lots of tests and the next trip is to the neurologist. The current prognosis is that it's all migraine related but it does seem a lot of people get these symptoms just normally (perhaps not to the same severity).

Yes wow that's crazy

I see a lot of weird colourful thing floating a lot it's strange

And I'm not talking about the after starring into a bright screen or light effect

Have you ever done drugs? Namely MDMA?

Visual snow isn't uncommon, but it's more severe in some people compared to others. It's likely that the more you look out for it, the more intense it will seem.

Don't have that many, and there hasn't been any increase in the amount for as long as I remember. But it is definitely something I watch out for.

There are a bunch of explanations for this

- Blue field entoptic phenomenon as explained above. These are the white blood cells moving inside the blood vessels in your eye

- Eye floaters which are clumped up proteins which float in the liquid of your eye

- Phosphenes, the illusion of patterns and colours when the eyes are closed, most commonly caused by pressing against your eyeballs.
