Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

So basically if you're about to lose just have one of your teammates quit. Have a predetermined rotation of who will quit so you can better avoid the timeout. Better yet, have someone get on an alt account to be the fall guy.

Look, we've been over this argument a million times on this forum, usually in the context of join in progress and it's place in Halo. There's no perfect solution, hell there's not even a good solution. You can mitigate some of the fuckery by punishing quitters in various ways, but everything has a trade off. People suck, bottom line, and it's not worth making serious concessions to the ranking or matchmaking system to deal with it.

If you're really frustrated, the solution is simply to search in a party of 4. Ask on gaf or just randomly invite people who were just on your team. If people on GAF would spend half the energy they spend raging about quitters, and instead work on building their friends lists, this wouldn't be such an issue.

Here's the better solution. No penalty on losses if someone on your team quits. To negate the abuse, there's still a penalty if its someone on your search party who quits. Real, real simple solution.

Hell, even just negating a loss if someone quits and just letting the abuse happen would be a much better solution than the shit show ranking system that exists right now.

This looks like it could go far.

Is it worth it to get a xbox one just for halo 5 and MCC? Halo 3, was one of my favorite MP games last gen. How does Halo 5 MP hold up to Halo 3?

Also what console would you guys suggest i get? The Halo 5 CE console seems to be overpriced for what you get (about $100 more than any other 1tb bundle). I was thinking maybe the Forza 6 LE console.

In my opinion, not really, no. Halo 5's pretty fun but too light on content and too flawed to be a system seller and MCC is just broken.

It would also be nice if you were outnumbered that the match wouldn't count against you. It sucks being in an outnumbered game and getting destroyed simply because people on your team quits so your stats end up getting hurt as a result. Those games shouldn't affect your KDA, W/L, or ranking.

as many have said, then you could have a "fall guy" to take the loss hit and the rest of the team gets off scott free.

I didn't suggest anything real specific on purpose, just that something should be done so stats aren't destroyed for the people who stay. I think suggestions mentioned in this thread like the search party still being affected by a whole if one in that party quits (the match will still count for the rest that stay), there could be a 3 minute time for someone in the team to rejoin a game in case of a disconnect, and there should be a mercy loss system (ESPECIALLY in Warzone) are all great suggestions that'll improve the current system.

as many have said, then you could have a "fall guy" to take the loss hit and the rest of the team gets off scott free.

And as others have said, you could make the fireteam excluded from having stats not count for them in a match if one on the fireteam quits (but then allow 3 minutes for a fireteam member to reconnect in case it was a disconnect). That would get rid of the possibility of a fall guy.

You might as well wait for black Friday now to score a deal. By then, the new BTB maps will be here, etc. I think it's worth it. I mean as a Halo fan, you're going to play this over CoD, Destiny, Battlefront no? If you're also looking to buy an Elite controller, they're sold out pretty much everywhere, so the Elite Console if it's available near you could also be a good choice. Remember though you essentially get 14 gold packs as part of the limited edition. People are already spending like $3 per pack to buy them. How big a forza fan are you?

If you're a huge halo fan then sure it's worth it, don't know what hachtag is talking about MCC is in MUCH better condition then it was in 2014, game is very playable with lots of playlists going for it.

So, I was definitely wrong about this game -- it's actually quite brilliant. Truth is, I'm getting older and tend to be cynical and quite judgemental about shooters these days (I am absolutely done with the Call Of Duty franchise), but after putting some time in Warzone and Arena, I can safely say those modes are some of the best multiplayer content currently on the market. I didn't like the campaign here as much as some other Halos, and it would be cool if there was matchmaking for the campaign, but the mechanics are so tight and the gunplay so good that it almost doesn't matter.

What I think might add to the game a bit is a sort of kill cam -- I know it's a feature Halo doesn't have traditionally, but I'd love the option of seeing a replay, from my opponents perspective, of my death. Basically, sometimes I just don't understand how I died so quick and I get a little frustrated. Only solution is to "git gud" I suppose!

Yea but you SHOULD be able to mercy quit (Have it still count) but avoid any negative bans once someone has quit and you are down a certain amount.

Yeah, give the players a loss, but the ban hammer should not be handed to the mercy loss guy.

A "final" kill cam could be cool, but I do not think we need anything more than that. And while you are seeing it now, the gameplay in 5 is absolutely top notch. Yes you may have issues with the campaign or map counts but the gameplay itself is just too damn good. And I agree with the "best" multiplayer shooter on the market :)

MCC is something that still worries me, and stop me for buying a xbox one last time, when the bad reviews came out. Even still it sound like it some people say it fixed, others say its broken

The plan was to sell the forza 5 code, maybe on the neogaf BST thread. I am Canadian so we don't always get as good deals as our neighbours down south on black friday. But right now MS store has a deal to get Black ops 3 free with any console, which i would try to trade for halo 5/MCC.

I guess i'll see if i could sell the gold req packs if i buy the halo 5 console, or if they are tied to the game download code.

I should clarify, I don't care if my KDA takes a hit in a 2v4, even 1v4. I'd rather stay. But in a normal match obviously not dying is key to winning :P

definitely but in every arena match I'm in everyone is getting double digits in their KDA. It's really tough to keep it positive and I can barely keep it even if ever lol

and what if that person had a bad connection to 343 that night? or if 343 was experiencing difficulties? Do they change the policy on the fly? It would never work enough to be consistent.

Beta had the killcam, but I wasn't a fan, neither were a lot of other people, only because most kills are either being outshot or a random grenade, and so you pretty much knew how you died, and all it did was not tell you where the guy who killed you went. Whereas now, with the new killfeed on the side, and the body cam at death, you can quickly see that some guy got a BR headshot kill on you, and he took the flag, or your weapon etc. It just overall adds to the match aspect of it. I wouldn't be averse to a final kill cam though, especially considering how abrupt the match ends and just goes to staring Spartans.

For those of you who feel your in the wrong rank it isn't that hard to go to the next of y our winning every 2 or 3 wins without losing should rank you up no matter how much you lose. Easier than halo 3 ranks where if u lose a lot u have to win it back.

I changed ranks after winning 12 out of 15 or so.

I played Co Op and mp with a few of my buddies, it was one gigantic lag fest. All of had a solid connection, were the servers acting up tonight or something?

this is the type of shit I'm dealing with in Breakout with randoms. I get placed Bronze 1 which is complete bullshit and now I'm forced to play with complete shit people who don't know a headshot from their ass. The placing system is fucked.

I get 13 kills with 9 headshots and rank down

If you win 3 matches and then lose 3 matches, then your rank is pretty much right back to where it started. You can even keep track of it on Waypoint. I believe you have to win something like 5 matches to advance to the next tier within your rank. So I am not sure why you think you can lose as much as you want but still rank up from just wins alone. That makes no sense.

If youre below the rank you should be you'll make a big enough difference to win more than you lose. Yea you'll lose games because of quitters or shit teammates but ultimately you'll still rise to where you should be if you actually deserve to be ranked higher... Just keep playing.

Lost another match because the other team sniped the boss. :P
I literally watched a guy camp in the bushes in front of the spire just waiting to unload his binary rifle into the warden. I just sat behind him and assassinated him as soon as he pulled it out lol

Make a friend or two that are decent and you should be able to move out of bronze fast. Arena isn't really something you want to be doing solo risking playing with bad randoms.

Do you make a habit of looking for guys in the bushes, hoping that they'll pull it out?

It's a bit frustrating when the other team throws a hail marry and kills the boss when your team did all the work.

It's really annoying because without a doubt the best way to win is to kill the bosses. Any team which kills all of or most of the 150 point bosses is pretty much garunteed a victory. Every time I hear Palmer say "it's ok Spartans, we can still win by destroying the enemy core" I laugh. It's just not true. The only times you win by destroying the enemy core seem to be towards the beginning of the game. If the game stretches out past 10 minutes it usually revolves around the bosses, and if you can't pull ahead after warden eternal dies then you're just waiting for the inevitable loss.

problem is I'm not always in situations where I can or want to bring in friends as I pop on and off of Halo sporadically. Seems like the ranking system SHOULD take care of me more than it does.

I shouldn't have been Bronze and now I'm trapped with all the scrubs.

Yeah, was on a team just now that ignored the bosses and got rekt.

yes it makes sense, because it doesn't become harder or level locked.

Also, I don't think you need to win that much to rank up but let me check my actual wins.

so, just checking again, can anyone confirm whether there is party chat in the lobbies and menus? was having issues last night.

Maybe did pretty well to rank up fast but it wasn't hard to rank up with wins

20 games

16 and 4 one of the loses was a lag out though (still counts as a loss)
Ranked up from level 2 up until the next rank of diamond

But diamond isn't any harder at all, just sucks that I play alone and was learning the game and controls in my first 10 games and got placed in the plat bracket.

It's closer to 4 or 3 wins to rank up I believe.http://www.neogaf.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=184751105

Had a blast throughout the weekend, the changes the made to the playlist are what should've been from the start. I mean it's common sense, why did they release the multiplayer like that in the first place?

just have fun with it. that was awesome. I'm still in higher ranks and see play like that all the time. standing around and looking and stuff.

My guess for why there are issues is that these games need the real world tests for issues to arise. There is only so much they can reproduce in a closed development environment.

Just beat champions 2, 5, and 13 in slayer :)

They beat us the first game and then we got them on the salty run back, got unstable his onyx rank as well.

That's cool man, a good team with good call outs and knowing how to play can go a long way. i sitll feel a little lost but when i take the time to play smarter I can make a huge difference.

I think it's a mind game though, I had 1 kill the first 5 min of one game and then I just told myself to set up and play smarter and went on a frenzy. i still don't know the call outs though.

do people go by rocket, top rockets or they use the names that 343 gave
