Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Yo Frank/Stinkles, can you set it up so the next Silver pack I (gamertag RobinsonJD) open contains the Noble armor?

90 hours in the multiplayer alone and I still don't have the only armor I want. It's not even Legendary or Ultra Rare, it's just a humble Rare ; - ;

I feel you were punished worse in Halo 3.

If it was ranked your rank would take a hit and you would lose some EXP, which you needed to climb ranks also.

It's the aiming. Imagine this (when I shoot the marine, look at my reticle movement lol) for every encounter against competent players, how frustrating it can be having to compensate. Watch streams of people playing, everyone has these issues, albeit on a different scale and consistency. I feel it's a more frequent issue to adjust to in Halo 5, but I probably shouldn't be complaining. Somehow I aim like a madman, but still put up decent numbers lol

I can't wait for the aim assist settings to drop though, then hopefully less johns.

A temp fix for those on NXE, swap sticks in the console setting then in game switch the sticks to southpaw. Problem solved, no more acceleration. I saw Unstable mention it the other day so I tried it out and it works great.

Hmm my memory might be mistaken, but I never remembered Halo 3 being on Halo 5's level of quitting.

Halo 3 launched with social playlists.

Halo 5 doesn't have those. Some people just don't care about ranks or even winning. Some people just want to have fun, and if they aren't having that fun leave.

Which was apparently an unknown phenomena by the people who created the playlists of Halo 5.

Btw you can get a target rich camping environment if your team quits in shotty snipers. They can't even rush you safely.

Are there going to be harsher penalties for quitters? As of right now the game is really bad when searching Arena solo. Especially with the skill based matchmaking, it makes even 3v4's pretty difficult when everyone is of similar skill.

I have no idea what this is

Install the Discord app on your phone or tablet. Tap that link on your phone or tablet (it's essentially an invite to the Halo 5 group)

Discord is more or less a chat room. Super handy because you don't have to wade through posts in here to see someone looking for a game. We have a bunch of regulars in Discord that all play regularly with each other. Join in!

Couldn't you quit a bunch of games, win one and get a huge boost to your XP? I remember hearing a lot a things about quitting or losing games to boost back then.

It would also be nice if you were outnumbered that the match wouldn't count against you. It sucks being in an outnumbered game and getting destroyed simply because people on your team quits so your stats end up getting hurt as a result. Those games shouldn't affect your KDA, W/L, or ranking.

Not sure why, but halo 5 is the only game I play where I experience lag.

Tried other games, nothing. But once I start Halo 5 matches, lag.

I've been researching the issue, and I see threads in various places where others are having issues as well, but I'm not sure if it's a large enough issue where 343 has eyes on it.

I really want to like the game. I really want to PLAY the game. But for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. All my other games are fine. Connection is fine. I just don't know.

Just offer some more info, I tried to play some custom matches with a friend. Ended up jumping all over the place. After a match or two, I received an alert that I failed to connect to halo 5 servers, or something like that. Then, xbox just froze and I had to reboot.

We decided to pop in some master chief collection. We played for 2 hours without any issues.

Something about Halo 5.....sigh.

Yup, this. I quit twice the night I started playing when the rest of the team disappeared. But I've never quit since. I don't care about KDA. If I'm good, I'm good. But I refuse to quit anymore. Always go down and fight till the end!

and then get punished by the ranking system even though you were clearly outnumbered, wooooo ranking system go!

Sorry to jump into the convo later, but there is no way the quitting and griefing was this bad back in halo 2 or Halo 3. It was probably the worst in Reach, where I think the saturation of shithead kids with consoles just converged on the game. Even Halo 4 launch was bad, I still remember launch week, people just betraying you and destroying your tank on exile, all kinds of stupid stuff.

I think the fact there has been very little consequences the past decade, you've allowed this shitty behavior to be cemented. People need their instant gratification, scared to lose or scared to play ranked playlists, used to just quitting without punishment, thinking that they can just team shoot and nothing happens etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's always been there, but I feel it wasn't as bad back in the day. Maybe that's just my memory though.

DO YOU FEEL LIKE ARMOR HOLDS NO VALUE ANYMORE?

TBH, I don't mind that 99% of Armor can be unlocked through REQ Packs.

Me neither. I mean while I agree that it kind of is an issue how you could theoretically go the entire year of playing and due to the randomized nature of the system, not get any armor or the one you want, I don't remember it being such an honor that you got Hayabusa or whatnot. I mean Reach was a ridiculous grind to get some of the armor.

The only issue I have is with removing emblem customization and moving that to the REQ system. Coupled with the fact that the UI is worse than Reach and MCC in terms of showing players pre-game, and you see the same 5-6 emblems every match, those little thumbnails.

Yeah it felt bad and most people didn't do it.

It's really damn annoying and they need to get stricter on it.

I think only like 90 of the Emblems are in REQ Packs. So 100 of them are unique to you.

But yeah, I miss the customization of Emblems.

And we really need to see how the players look as in the Carnage Report, they don't show.

Just played 5 games of Escape from Arc and surprise surprise we got it again for the 6th time in a row. This needs to honestly stop.

If Armor was unlocked through progression, req packs would lose that much value to people who didn't care much for warzone.

It's obvious they wanted to implement a gachapon/gambling system. Because of the REQ system, people get attached to the game in a way some people get attached to pulling the lever.

It's kinda lame there's no real progression for getting cool looking armor. It's kinda lame they have this REQ system. But..I like it. I like loot games, so it works for me.

I think with cod it showed people that you can be a dick or be an ass to others with out much consequence

Good thing they added the ricochet to hardcore in some of the CoDs so you take damage instead of team members

REQS level the playing field, everyone gets a chance to get items, plus helps for those who can't invest lots of time too

Couldn't you quit a bunch of games, win one and get a huge boost to your XP? I remember hearing a lot a things about quitting or losing games to boost back then.
Only if you were playing with someone who did this. They were called booster accounts. They would quit a bunch on purpose, so when you actually played for real with them and won, it looked like you played with the scrubbiest of scrubs and ranked you accordingly.

I'd say 4 games out of 5, I do pretty poorly. Most the time, I admittedly struggle to even keep a positive K/D. But then every five or six games, for whatever reason, I'll just dominate - on my second-to-last Shotty/Sniper match just a few moments ago, I just got 24 kills with a near 3.0 K/D.

It's strange. I really can't tell if I'm playing better, or just against worst players. Honestly, though, it just feels like I get "luckier" sometimes - catching people running across halls and not seeing me, or running with their backs toward me, etc.

Just thinking out loud...

So tired of quitters in Arena. Played about a dozen games tonight and I think half of them one or two people on the team quit early on. I spend the rest of the match getting dominated by kids who think its impressive to 4v2 and corpse hump their kills.

here yah go

So I played through the campaign on legendary with 3 friends last night, and I don't know if it was just the difficulty level or the fact that we marathoned it, but a lot of the game was just straight up not fun.

Like, overall I still liked it and really enjoyed certain parts, but most of the last 20% was pretty repetitive and often felt unfair (spawn at a checkpoint just in time for promintheans to spawn all around you). There were also a few moments earlier in the game that were similar.

Most of what it comes down to is that any linear progression gameplay was fun, but trying to stay alive or achieve objectives in an open battlefield was way less fun.

Yup. There needs to be some crazy clamping down on quitters.. Never been this bad before.

Part of the problem is team of 4s being matched with solo randoms. It's just totally ridiculous in a game like this where callouts and team shot is everything, especially considering quicker ttk compared to the past couple of Halos.

Stinkles is all "I could just pull the pin and make the pain go away forever".

Don't do it Frankie :*(

ROFL, he really does look like he's considering it

OT - Went hot my last game of Shotty Snipes. Was down at 4-7 and something got a hold of me and finished off with 17-10. Plaza's a bit cramped for SS though

I've been watching a lot of Halo 5 gameplay videos recently. Not played yet because my Juan doesn't get here until tomorrow, but have been replaying a bit of Halo CE on PC.

I'd forgotten how inaccurate the assault rifle is. Is the Halo 5 version actually usable? In Halo CE, it doesn't seem to hit anything.

Just bought the game digitally for 40 ( amazing price) and its been downloading for almost the whole day.. Can't wait to join you guys :) my gt is Deap92x

So basically if you're about to lose just have one of your teammates quit. Have a predetermined rotation of who will quit so you can better avoid the timeout. Better yet, have someone get on an alt account to be the fall guy.

Look, we've been over this argument a million times on this forum, usually in the context of join in progress and it's place in Halo. There's no perfect solution, hell there's not even a good solution. You can mitigate some of the fuckery by punishing quitters in various ways, but everything has a trade off. People suck, bottom line, and it's not worth making serious concessions to the ranking or matchmaking system to deal with it.

If you're really frustrated, the solution is simply to search in a party of 4. Ask on gaf or just randomly invite people who were just on your team. If people on GAF would spend half the energy they spend raging about quitters, and instead work on building their friends lists, this wouldn't be such an issue.
