Wow, I am stuck after using the first computer terminal in the game. Like, literally stuck, can't move out of the way. :(

I went dark on most of the game.

What is the purpose of base building exactly? I've been able to construct stuff in a couple of locations but the benefits aren't super clear to me (like they are with weapon/armor mods).

This game has much better presentation than I expected.

The way the story is framed, the dialogue, the art style are vastly improved over Bethesda's previous games.

Couldn't disagree more assuming you are talking about the opening. I thought it was awful and did not do it's job in the slightest assuming it was meant to make me care for the character's family.

Feeling much better though now that I'm exploring the wasteland.

Log into steam whilst connected to VPN, browse the store.
Disconnect from VPN, browse store.
Reconnect to VPN, browse store.
Does anything start downloading?

Do I need to change my account store region, or are the steps you're giving me assuming I've changed nothing (both store and download set to US)?

Survival is pretty tough. Took me like 10 tries to kill the damn
deathclaw
in the second quest lol

Honestly, bump back to normal for an hour or two and just get setup. Survival and very hard are extremely brutal at the early hours of the game.

To stop the dog being a follower do I just tell him to stay when in my settlement or something else?

Talk to him and there will be an option that says dismiss.

No way ... What is this? ... The bug persists when I reload a save. Seriously, Bethesda? The first computer terminal in the game. Did your testers not try and use the first computer terminal in the game?

ammo does seem pretty scarce early on. I took the scrounger perk for more ammo and I still need to conserve my better ammos. Currently just using pipe weapons because its I don't have enough revolver or hunting rifle ammo yet

Is it better or worse than the first hour of NV? I liked both FO3 and NV almost equally (NV slightly more due to the writing), but the first hour or so was so goddamn slow in NV, and the game didn't click until getting to the strip.

Way better imo. The beginning of NV didn't do much for me either (even though NV > 3 overall for me).

You can't just connect to VPN with Steam opened. Exit Steam and the connect to VPN and then open Steam. You don't have to browse anything in the store.

Two hours in this game is fantastic. Looks like a generational leap from Fallout 3/NV, the crafting system is amazing and the combat is much improved.

Make sure you're setting steam to offline mode after you log in with a VPN. Then you can just turn off the VPN and not have to worry about the awful clogged connection of a free VPN.

Do you get to select any Perks at character creation, like the unique Perks at the start of New Vegas? (Weird Wasteland, frail limbs, etc.)

Yes, assuming the difficulty reading it right. It states that legendary enemies show up more often on higher difficulties.

This has been happening to me every now and then. Not enough to be annoying, just weird.

This is my first Fallout game. What are the advantages of facing and beating legendary enemies?

I imagine most people aren't at a place to answer this yet, but do powersuits ever become something you can wear all the time? Or are the fusion core just not plentiful or long lasting enought to do that?

They drop weapons with unique modifiers like say "Incinerating Pipe pistol" that gun should have a fire proc. Those kinds of enemies are new so it's not clear if all these weapons are one offs or if the game just spawns random legendary enemies from time to time.

Still crashing on starting a new game, anyone have any clue or suggestions?

It's because you're lost; come home Hawkian.

Hope you get it up to speed.

I asked this earlier but for the people who have played a bit and know Boston - how well/accurately is it represented (granted that it's post-nuclear)?

Are there a lot of landmarks featured? Does the geography make any sense?

What is the best setup for lag-free streaming & audio? I have a few friends and family members who don't have the time these days to dedicate to Fallout 4, so I wanted to stream one of my playthroughs with them and let them jump in and out as their schedule allows.

We've tried Twitch, but the lag is a bit too much (15-30 sec makes a big difference to us). Audio is fairly easy to resolve using Skype or Mumble. But any suggestions for video? OBS? Skype? Other?

There's not much you can do using Twitch or YouTube to prevent at least 15 seconds of lag. If you are playing on PS4 and they have a PS4 also, you could have them spectate you using SharePlay which has no lag but it's limited to one connection at a time.

Previous Fallout games only had a handful of legendary enemies and they were always in certain areas. I'm not quite sure what legendary enemies in this game do just yet.
They drop special loot according to the Giant Bomb quick look. Like unique, named weapons for example.
