Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

what is the deal with Boosts? Sometimes they seem to stick around after matches. Even showing Arena card in Warzone, etc.

I've had this happen too. I'm also not sure how the Gambit cards work. Say you get the "top 50% assists" gambit, but you get no assists that game.. does it waste the card or stick around until you have a game where you meet the requirements? I don't check my boosts often enough to tell...

Also some of them don't say gambit but require you to place highly in a match or or other requirements. Are they any different?

That reminds me of this one match of breakout where i was heading for the BR and the guy behind me bashed me so he could grab it... happened every round that i ran for it in that match.

Like... Fucking seriously man.

People are serious about that BR in Breakout.

I was playing a game and some guy had already decided that it belonged to him. When someone else managed to grab it before him (no betrayals involved), he started threatening the guy with the mic. Next round when he is again beaten to the punch, he started threatening with the typical "my dad works at nintendo" kind of bullshit, getting rancid with his words and following the guy around harassing him rather than playing the game.

So at that point I decided to mess with him and would pop a few rounds into him here and there throughout the match when I would pass him by. He went nuts and started following and threatening me too of course. Told me that his uncle was going to ban me for 24 hrs from my "precious halo that I love so dearly" (his words). So I called his bluff and betrayed him while cracking up. We still won the game and the ban never came.

Moral of the story? We are both jackasses. The end.

I'm so sick of getting splattered just by jumping on a tank. If they're moving in the slightest and I'm running up and jumping I get splattered. It's bullshit.

Getting SO frustrated playing this solo. The fact no one I know picked this up is really dampening the fun I'm having...

Yeah, playing solo sucks completely. Thankfully that's why we have Blops and Destiny. 343 really needs to buckle up and make a social playlist.

Unfortunately, that was very common back in the day.

Also tired of jumping in the gunner seat when I want to board the tank.

Why would I want to do this? What purpose do I have being in that position? Why do I have to be so far in the tank to start boarding it? Why does it seem like that you can't shoot someone off of you when they are boarding you?

Yeah first time it happened i was like, oh right, people used to pull this shit in Halo! Nowaydays in FPS games you choose your own loadout and there's no friendly fire. It's awesome going back to even starts and weapon pickups, but kind of makes me wonder if this type of player behavior has contributed to the design decisions of other FPS games that don't allow it to happen.

Put Destiny 'in the cupboard' for now. Had my fill of TTK. Tempted to pick up Blood for some less stressful solo donging though.

Just finished it on Legendary (solo).

Total time 21:03:53 (Heroic + Legendary)
3,997 kills
237 deaths

Still missing most of the skulls and intel so I'll go back to the campaign another time. Now, if only I can play MP without getting disconnected every 10 minutes...

Using an Arris modem or Netgear R series router by chance?

agreed. Also didn't it used to be where if you got boarded to get a grenade planted you couldn't get out of the tank?

Guys I have done H3, H4 and Reach solo on legendary. Before I attempt this on solo run just wanted to ask how it ranks in the Halo difficulty. And how long it will take me approximately. I will be collecting EVERYTHING too.

So I continue to record clips in game, receive the clip uploaded confirmation and the next day zero clips in XboxClips or XboxDVR. Hmmm, something has gone awry. I had at least 4 clips I wanted to record last night, nothing, nada, zippo.

6 Losses in a row now. This time we got pushed back in the first 5 minutes after I killed the Banshee for 150pts!

Warzone. Warzone Never Changes.

what a jackass, lol, he deserved the betrayal.

Yea, i remember it happening a lot back then, but it hasn't happened to me in any game for so long that it was really jarring. i think the occasional asshat doing things like that is okay if it means even starts. but i think you are onto something with that being a contributing factor to most games abandoning it.

It's been like two weeks and I think it's safe to say Halo 5 ranks amongst my two least favourite Halo games. I feel completely misled and underwhelmed as far the campaign goes, and more bitter towards 343i for prioritising their lorecraft over the games to the point you need to actually do some homework to piece it all together. I could forgive them once with Halo 4 because they were new to the game, but this takes the piss.

I'd like to write a longer post about it, and I may still, but for now I need to get it off my chest how fucking infuriating the MP is. It's more COD-like than Halo has ever been. They turned it into a run and gun twitchfest from which I simply cannot derive any joy even when I'm winning or doing really well. I just don't at all feel satisfied playing the game, and it's not because of the Spartan abilities or Sprint - it's the goddamn low TTK. It's the worst thing about this game by far.

At least Warzone is dope, though it could use some more maps - which I'm pleased we'll be getting soon.

I have played a little bit of Mission 1 of the Campaign as well but I don't plan on continuing. Honestly, I have no idea what's going on anyway and who's who. I'm thinking of buying the Master Chief Collection tomorrow.

Should I just go through them by release order: Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach (when it's backward-compatible), Halo Wars, Halo 4 and then Halo 5?

Should I read the books as well? I had 3 books years ago but never read them before selling them again. How many books are there now? And is the lore and stories still worth keeping up with? Are they actually great (not just the books, but the over all stories of it all) ?

I'm about 150 CSR from Champion in SWAT.

Just had the easiest game of my life, was 3v4 but their fourth went 2-22 poor guy. It was on Pegasus though so I can't blame him.

Just play the games in release order. You can skip Wars.

Halo Wars and Halo Reach are prequels.

Did you check to see if the clips are on Xbox.com? Are they on your xbox itself when you check?

Try watching them through xbox.com > profile.

If I play some slayer tonight I'll stream it. I won't promise consistent wins or domination, but I can promise some competitive sweaty games.

Hopefully since everyone's onyx now we will get more intense matches. I love a challenge and playing against good players.

Using an Arris modem or Netgear R series router by chance?

No, I'm using a Technicolor 8305c from Comcast, but I did have them send me an Arris modem just a month ago and that didn't fix the issue. I also bought my own modem and for some reason it wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure Comcast is fucking with me but there's nothing that I can do since they're the only broadband provider in my area (except for shitty AT&T DSL).

I really hate how I get disconnected from Halo 5 servers the moment I get any lag, even it's just a couple of seconds. In other games, I never get dropped. MCC, for example, would just cause a rubber banding effect that eventually goes away, but it never kicks me from the game like Halo 5 does.

TTK needs to be low or the abilities wont work - see Halo 3, Halo 4 and Reach.

But the AR being available to spawn with for all players on top of the overly segmented maps makes for frustrating gameplay, I'd agree. The game plays better with just Pistols.

Sometimes I just cannot land shots on certain players in a game. It must have something to do with connection, because a shot that would land on someone else every time just gets eaten up by some players. Either that or they've found a super helmet that's hard to hit.

So sick of unlocking ARs from Req Packs, my kingdom for a longshot BR or DMR!

Still getting matched onto US servers which is a bummer, I'm guessing that's just the way it's going to be :(

I'm sorry you ain't feeling it man... But the TTK is really on par with the other games in the series...

Some weapons in particular have a shorter TTK than they did before, but the amount of time it takes to kill a Spartan really hasn't changed much.

Also, added mobility, should actually lengthen duals, since there are more ways to spoil perfect kills...

OMG my first win after 6 Losses!

Me and 3 other people started talking when they took down the Warden and took East Armory, making it like 890-890 and with us losing the lead!

Someone was even like "Why did we start talking near the end? We coulda done better if we spoke from the start."...because barely anyone replies.

I kid you not, I thanked everyone on my team.

nope, it's the same exact TTK that it's always been. Same amount of trigger pulls, exactly. So, it must be you.

My biggest frustration is that it seems that you can't leave the tank once someone has planted a grenade. I may be wrong, but if not that sucks.

Same deal, no clips from the last 5 days. The ones that are there are sporadic with the same issue. It's been quite flakey for me since launch.

Just for Halo 5? How about other games? Is your drive full of saved/favourited videos? You only can store a few, it might be not even writing the new clips right away.

Damn. You must be pretty good. I'm on mission 14 of my Legendary play through and I have 180 deaths already.

Good point, I'll try some other games tonight. I've got around 45Gb free so storage shouldn't be an issue.

I don't care how "balanced" it seems on paper. Dying in less than a second is pure awfulness in Halo; it feels totally off and plays like shit imo. It belongs in COD and other twitch shooters, but I suppose we can add Halo to that genre now so that feature is right where it belongs.
