I'm playing without using VATS. There is a perk that makes dogmeat grab enemies in VATS... He seems to grab enemies now when I'm out of VATS. Is there any benefit to this perk if I'm not using VATS?

He grabs enemies even without that perk so it must be something else, like when you trigger vats he has a chance to do it or something.

But no, it seems to be a VATS oriented talent.

Squarely on the fence here. I have it pre-ordered for the ps4 but may hold off day one.

Gaf always loves games on release day. It's day 2-3 that I will be monitoring.

May sit back and finish Witcher 3 DLC.

Thinking of doing a melee build, which I've never done in ES/FO games.

I'll pbly mix in explosives to add more to it. What would roughly be a good SPECIAL build to start out with ? I haven't even looked at any perks yet.
Im a melee teleporting ninja in this game. Got extra vats melee teleportation, sneak and damage.

Those who own the game, is it wort it? Should I get up and drive to the shop and buy it asap or not?

Your'e asking in an OT thread so most of us who answer here are going to be fans of the game. I enjoy it but you're probably better served by watching/reading reviews to decide.

Really need to figure out what kind of playstyle I want.

Required Level 74+ for everything I want. Not sure I'll be playing that long. (Though in 3 and NV I hit the level cap fairly early on, so maybe 74+ is easier to attain than I expect.)

What's this about a "S.P.E.C.I.A.L." Book?

So what's the dump stat in FO4? And is Charisma actually worth taking this time for silver-tongued characters?

How's low intelligence dialogue options for those who have played this path?

And finally - can anyone confirm if you can change your companion's armour?

Man, that character creator is really intuitive. Usually everything goes wrong when you're set lose on unlimited amounts of options, but I think my character came out pretty well, I didn't even have to go back and redo it for once. (Started from the basic 'Face 1' female template)

I've got to say I find myself ending up with sudden day-one purchasing urges lately.

Only thing holding me back is that my single Bethesda experience so far has been Oblivion; a game I wanted to love but after just a few hours really hated. The larger ranged focus of Fallout would help I think. Visually seems more varied than the world of Oblivion too.

I don't know. I guess I could trade it in if I really don't like it.

I am sure everyone has seen the list of names Codsworth can call you already, but in case you havent. Here it is.

I am going to split up by gender, pop culture reference curse words in the next few days.... going through around 1000 names and splitting up them does not sound fun right now though :)

42 minutes till unlock!

She's pretty. I'm looking forward to making my girl!

So... Been messing around with settlement building, and I have to ask: Where the hell does furniture go when you choose to store it in the workshop?

Anyone playing the game on above the "normal" difficulty setting? Hard, etc. Is it actually hard, recommend it over normal?

What is it that powers the suit? And can I find or craft more? Not far past the factory, just building up a house at sanctuary.
unwittingly scrapped my baby's crib
jesus this game is good.
Fusion Cores power the armor and you can find more around the world.

So did I read incorrectly that legendary mobs don't spawn on any difficulty below hard? Or is that true?

They span on normal they are just more frequent on hard+

Yay my name is there.
Is Codsworth the only thing that uses your name?

Is it normal that when I interact with the 'You're Special' book at the start of the game that nothing happens? I thought I 'd be able to use it to raise a skill?
