Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

One thing I don't like is thumbnails for players and yet all this wasted space on the side where 'my fireteam' is. Such a poor UI decision. I mean Halo reach and even MCC got it right. Why not let me see the 4v4 on the right in the fireteam area instead of some thumbnails for ants I can't even click on.
 
Zeta Come on now dude, surely you can't disagree with me even on this. Who the fuck doesn't want a lobby system where they can see the other players. If anything even just to be able to socialise with the other players pre and post game like in the past. Fuck me dead.

Edit: and you mention reach (and yes I'd love it if they implemented a system like it) where stats are fully visible pre game -- I'm guessing this is what you're referring to as "other parts" of my post? Uh...Your thought process is strange.

I said I don't disagree with that, it's the ranks in the lobbies. I have a whole paragraph explaining that.

Well I played WZ Assault for the first time, played two matches. Both were on Summit and both times as defender. Can't really say I enjoyed it. I had flashbacks of Operation Metro. It just doesn't play well at all, it was just a turkey shoot. I was hoping it would play like Invasion but it doesn't. The req points from it are insane though, got around 3k for both matches. If I play WZ it's just going to be the regular mode.
I don't care for rush mode either in BF or this. I know some love it but it's not for me.

That fills up when you have a 12 person fireteam :P
 
Anybody know if Forge is coming in this/next week's November BTB update? Also... the screenshots of the Headlong (one of my favorite Halo BTB maps) Forge remake....

Look bad... like REALLY bad. If this is the DLC map quality we get... let's hope not.

And let us see the armor of our fireteam without going into the menus.

Yeah, I'm liking the look of it. Really slick and clean, appreciate how different it looks from the arena maps, whilst looking completely different from the other forge BTB maps.

And these are forge maps coming out weeks after the release, I can't believe people really think that going forward, REQ packs are paying for forge stuff.

Lol ok... it does kinda look like a Team Fortress, cell-shaded map hahaha... i'll give ya that! But compared to this...

Have you recently discovered forge? Of course if you compare a forge map to a dev map the contrast will be stark. That has always been the case.
 
I hardly get EU servers even during the day, just had 2 Slayer games and both were full of US players. I couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo in either game :(



My last few silver packs have all been AR's, I'm getting #reqt all round!

I didn't get that friend request mate. Server allocation is beyond fucking terrible
 
Forge is an amazing map editor but honestly if 343 plan to release official forge maps they should make dedicated locations and textures for them too, they already do this for breakout and it works perfectly there.

The default forge texture is ok when it comes to making maps with friends or trying things out but to place them into a matchmaking list for thousands of people? they need to look better.

I'm glad you can find some attractiveness in that. I can't. I'm very familiar with forge and am well aware that a Forge map wont look like a regular developer map. My comment was intended to highlight that BTB maps are unfortunately just Forge built. Yes, we've known this for quite some time but it's still unfortunate when you see something that could have been amazing... like a H5 remake of Headlong... but see the Forge. *shudders*

Yeah but I mean when you're going in solo, it's basically just you on the side. I mean it doesn't show the people SR rank, their emblem, their names etc. Just seems counterintuitive. I get it for Warzone where there is 24, but 4v4 should've had it there.

Same. As long as they play well I don't care all that much and I'm sure they'll look better in motion, especially the Headlong remake.

I think aesthetics and playability are both important. Don't really care to play on a shitty looking map.

Hopefully the DLC maps are not just more UNSC bases.

Quitting is already bad enough. We don't need to give people even more reason to quit if they see they are going up against folks that are higher level/rank than they are.
 
True. Save that it's not like the other Guardians. Which could easily be explained as a design aesthetic change over the years. I still think it's post-halo 5, and that there was stuff removed from the campaign and is being saved for Halo 6 (cloaked Chief and the like, which can be seen in the achievement art also).

Yeah adding a big evil grinning skull face to the Guardians was a weird decision. They looked much cooler as weird metal birds like the reveal.

Thought the same thing. Might as well call it Skynet. What could go wrong...

Chapters 12 and 13 down. Two more to go. Only two more chapters. Also, something I discovered regarding Wardens on the later levels:
you can just keep pegging them in the head from a distance and they will go down. (You could do this on the first one too, I suppose, but there's not much room with that first encounter.)

You edited all that shit in afterward that's what I'm saying lol. Your original post simply referred to reach so I was like wtf.

Previous system worked better, we had less quitters. So before we work on how it can be made better, how about simply returning it to the way it was.

And also I want persistent lobbies. I'm sure even you agree with me on that. The social aspects have been all but forgotten it's a pretty lonely ass game especially when playing solo.

I'm sure it will be a complete blast to play these Forge BTB maps and i know i'll enjoy them; however, i'll be bummed that they look like they do and could have looked like some of the beautiful stuff 343i has done to the stock MP maps. I'll much rather have paid for DLC maps if that meant more "developer maps" vs forge maps.

They will make maps, just not that many. But paying for dlc kills the playerbase. Fee with fore is better imo

The UI for Halo 5 was a step backward from Halo 4 and that UI was pretty bad IMO.

Yeah, but I don't think 343 has the balls to release DLC maps that are forge lol. They are making new ones, but the whole design philosophy of Halo 5 maps needs to be overhauled, in my opinion. Halo 4 had some great maps.

Accidentally posted Reach first. But even this. I mean look at the way customs games can look. But Warzone or Arena cannot. Instead you get some useless pictures of thumbnails until the match is over and then you have to go 4 menus deep just to see their stats, emblems, service records, etc.

I agree. I love all the new emblems but you can't see them all that well and they are not attached to a gt in any real sense. I like the look of the custom match. I wish we had that in mm.

I really hope that's the case because if Forge maps count as the DLC maps than I have big issues with that.
 
Custom games actually looks half decent, everything else especially the matchmaking UI is embarrassingly bad

Yeah why is that... i mean the current matching UI is one of the worst i can remember using online. Shows little to no information about your team, party, or opponents and is visually minimal (and not in a good way).

I'd vote for this

or this (glorious)

to replace this (gross)
