Not really a fan of how power armor is implemented in this game (or at least how it's introduced). I hope I don't feel gimped by not using it. I only used it in the beginning to kill
The Deathclaw
in that town.

Why? It finally feels like what actual power armor should feel like, a walking tank, instead of an ugly suit that behaves identically to a leather jacket to conventional body armor.

So say I stored a waterpump. How do I get it back to place it somewhere?

Go to whatever settlement you stored it in.
Go to a crafting table and press Transfer, you'll what is stored there and what you are carrying and you can switch items back and forth.

Amazon haven't delivered my copy.

Played for 2-3 hours. Feels good to play more Fallout, New England setting is promising. Crafting capabilities alone are almost overwhelming, seems like a real time sink but I'm starting to mess with weapon upgrades and it's a cool system. These games are always a slow burn for me, hard to form too many concrete impressions this early and I have some hangups but overall it's been positive and I'm looking forward to really digging into the world.

Already encountered one of the more charming Fallout bugs I've come across - after meeting Dogmeat he immediately started powerbombing roaches from 30 feet in the air to their death. Will probably put that one up on YouTube. I've had my share of bugs with the series from the amusing to the debilitating so I'm definitely saving often. Unfortunately saving on PS4 isn't as simple as it should be, feels like the PS3 process for some reason.

Is there a way for me to easily switch between normal armor and power armor?
I just don't want to feel like i have to, or really should, use power armor when setting out on a tough challenge.

I don't know what normal is like, but on hard, legendary enemies show up routinely. I've killed probably 10 of them so far in about 8 hours. The last one dropped a laser musket that has +50% bonus damage to animals, which will seriously come in handy.

the lessons I've learned so far... VATs is crucial on hard... explosives (along with demolitions perk in my case) can really get you out of a pinch... sometimes it's okay to flee..

so, my laptop is a 2013 Sager with i7-3630QM & GeForce GTX 675MX. I knew it was pretty low spec for this game going in.

Right off the bat, the game crashed when trying to launch. I updated GeForce drivers and verified the Steam cache and that fixed it.

The game suggested I use low settings, but GFE thought even that was too much and suggested the optimal settings would be 1280x740 res, low settings, and most other things turned off. I accepted that but the game looked absolutely dreadful.

For now I've bumped to 1920x1080 and a mix of low/medium settings. I didn't get farther than the first few minutes of the game, so I'll have to see how it fares once I get out in the world and into combat with multiple enemies. I'm not expecting much. Playing on PC may have to wait until I have a better rig.

Decided to pick up the PS4 version too.

man, everytime I find quests inside buildings (aka Fallout's "dungeons") I get super paranoid of how many other quests im missing lol

but anyway, just did the
cambrige chemical lab
side quest and it was rad. you even get a cool unique
power armor item
if you complete it "properly"

I'm gonna need to see this.

The game has had many small bugs for me so far, some amusing, but no large or damaging bugs as yet. Just a lot of slop, like long inexplicable pauses in dialogue, the wrong subtitles playing for dialogue being spoken, characters getting stuck in funny places, enemies sometimes healing to full for no reason, if I queue up food eating in my pip boy sometimes one of the foods I ate had its pending effects erased by eating another one, sound effects not playing, etc.

I'm actually surprised. The story ain't half bad so far, had pretty low expectations going in however. By the way, anyone tried the IOS app? Is it useful?

So when more Fallout 4 videos started coming out people said "Don't care about the graphics, this is the only game where you can go everywhere and there will be no loading screens ever."

Why do I need to load up a small cave, and why are the loading time so long? I needed a loading screen to go into the museum also if I am not mistaken. What gives. .

Yeah...I think I'll go ahead and wait before picking this up.

Is this game super hard or what?

Been playing for maybe 3 hours and I´m get killed A LOT.
What difficulty you playing on? I'm on Very Hard and definitely finding it challenging.
About 7 hours in and level 9 playing on hard and getting my ass kicked routinely. Everywhere i go there's another legendary or supermutant or mirelurk or group of ghouls waiting to kick my ass. My ammo is extremely limited, only my weakest guns have ammo right now. Also very few explosives which can help a lot in a pinch, but I am almost always low or out.

I'm just scraping by. I'm not ready to lower the difficulty because I like that the world feels dangerous.. But progress can be slow.
Personally I am in love with the fact that on higher difficulties I'm not some sort of unstoppable upper-god stimpak swilling Jack Of All Batmen like in Fallout 3. This game is real hard on Survival mode but its forced me to get creative and to improvise and improve, and that's cool.
Yeah, I can't imagine lowering it based on what I've encountered so far. Some stuff is super tough and takes a bunch of tries with novel idea to get past, but I really like that. Sort of scared to bump up to Survival honestly.

Yeah, I actually really like it. I'm going to invest in it either as a secondary aspect of my build way down the line or for a second character someday. You can kind of set out toward a goal, "park" and pop out to explore the area, then run back and hop in if it looks like it's going to be a firefight.

You can completely avoid using it altogether if you don't want to.

Thanks guys. Game owns, no bugs so far. Killin some raiders in a coolant cap factory with a pistol. I don't really understand the upgrade system yet, I just keep adding stars to my SPECIAL. Idk. It's really fun.

I just got the first power armor in the game.

Do I just use it till its gone and leave it, or take it back to an "upgrade bay" or whatever it's called?

Also, can you store it facing out like in the promotional photos?

Warning: putting a point into Idiot Savant will bring up an annoying audio and visual cue every time the thing happens. The XP is nice but god damn it's annoying.

Man, living with two people who dislike this game is irksome. I'm having a lot of fun with it, whereas they just keep going on and on about the bad design decisions. That said, they still played for eleven hours in one sitting, so...!

Can someone remind me where it's safe to store excess stuff? I'm quickly becoming overburdened in this world as my OCD makes me pick up everything I find. I'm very early in and wondering if I can just throw all this stuff in a random file cabinet or will it disappear after X amount of days?

Yeah, despite the doom and gloom that almost worried me, it's pretty damn stable and fun so far.

You can store it anywhere, nobody will steal it. But for convenient sake, Sanctuary Hills. It won't disappear either.
