Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

I struggled hard fighting the Warden the first time on Legendary. I'm not looking forward to the other battles.

I did that one by sprinting up to the Incineration Cannon, jumping down to the platform he starts on, and unloading into his back. Took me a few tries. The next one is a lot easier.

Pretty sure that KDA formula is kills plus 1/3 of assists minus deaths divided by games played equals KDA. So you can have a positive kill/death ratio but your KDA could still be less than 1.0

Here is an example. 3 games played, 29 kills, 28 deaths, 3 assists. (29 +1) -28/3 = .667 KDA
You should check your math.

Halo 5 maps are really weak and boring..How can they come up with these maps after 3 years of working on this game..I mean what were you thinking when you were making maps like Orion,Plaza..I constantly play on the plaza over and over again..WTH man..Bring back voting system and make sure that Colliseum come more often..I am really bored of current maps.

It bothers me when I read stuff like this. Halo 5 is at least 4x the art demands of Halo 4 which was already overkill on the 360. Give them some time FFS. They need a veritable army of artists to build custom maps. Something like Plaza is wall to wall detail and industrial variety. Why is there such a lack of art appreciation when it comes to the game while simultaneously bitching about gameplay content that is forged like Orion and Pegasus? They said more maps are coming, they are working on them. Enjoy the game you have.

29 + 1 = 30
28/3 = 9.3333

30-9.3333 = 20.6667

That's the proper way to math your equation.

Ok, added.
Not quite. 29 kills, 28 deaths, 3 assists over 3 games.

Overall KDA is [29+(3×1/3)]/28, which is 1.07. KD is 29/28, which is 1.04. The game count is irrelevant to those calculations.

One more thing about mics and sound. I've noticed that whenever I start up multiplayer it has me automatically set to "party only" with an option to switch it to "game chat."

I don't notice any difference whatsoever when I change this option. I still hear people in the game while it is set to "party only" and I dont hear anyone new when I switch it to "game chat."

What's the difference? Does this setting only affect my mic? I gues it must but it isn't labelled. And also why does it refuse to remember my preference? It's really annoying.

you are not alone. I still don't understand that lol..

Am I the only one that is actually impressed with that? Yes the map is missing textures, but other than that the map is really impressive looking for forge.

nope. looks awesome. seriously, the only thing that really looks off and should be removed, are the white stripes in the road. i wouldnt be opposed to using a few more colors either, but thats kind of nitpicking and may even be featured in the map interiors. i'm impressed headlong can be recreated so faithfully.

Just played a game of FFA where 2 people quit at the beginning. The game played so much better with 6 people on the map. There was a bit more room to breath and it still felt chaotic in the right way.

It felt good spawning and not getting shot immediately.

343 pls

Man Plaza is beautiful when you have a look around a bit. I have been killed many times sightseeing when I should have been paying attention. All the 343 maps are stunning except for regret.

Now they are swimming in req money, hopefully they will get in some artists or get certain affinty to do some maps lol.

You can skip the final
encounter with him completely.
Just look it up on youtube if you want.

Why would you?

That fight takes like 15 - 20 minutes at most. Maybe I just got lucky with checkpoints after killing each Warden, but it's super easy.

I honestly think the Warden was a missed opportunity. He should have had different forms each time that required different attack patterns etc.

I just don't see how people say Halo 5 is so feature rich. Game feels ridiculously barebones for me already. Campaign I'm trying to replay, but there is no scoring, no theater, no fun skulls like H2A added, no things like certain checkpoints (rally point bravo) so that I don't have to slog through the cut scenes or starting to get to a fun battle.

There is no firefight, no Spartan Ops, nothing to do besides Warzone, which is 3 maps, and Arena which is a handful of maps I already played so much in the beta. Just nothing to do as a single player as well. I used to love just firing up Gruntpocalypse and just shooting in Reach, or doing a few fun Spartan Ops missions over and over.

Even commendations, some of them I've already completed. There is no other things like weekly challenges, kill 2 wardens this week for extra EXP. I wasn't going to buy Battlefront, waffling between canceling pre-order and buying it, but I may keep it, would be nice to use that game to just screw around in.

I really hope they add an option to choose which server you connect too. It may add a bit of time to matchmaking but it would be better.

Focusing on competitive gameplay is good. The first two games were good at it by accident and then the scene gradually disappeared. Halo 5 only plays as well as it does because of making it a priority (although not without some compromises).

I agree however that the were too heavy handed in that regard when it comes to their investment systems and especially the map design. For the former, it's disappointing to have such an emphasis on the ranking system and not even be able to quickly compare your rank to other players. IT's also disappointing to have all of the customization tied to REQ packs as opposed to a progression system like Reach, which means if you want to chase after those items you'll most likely have to play Warzone.

On the map side, most of them are safe, "2 base, 2 tower" designs that do not appear to tread any new ground despite being "more vertical". Sure, they're arted up pretty nicely (often to a fault), but good art isn't going to make a boring map better. To be quite frank, pro players are easy to please when it comes to map design - they'll play Midship 24/7 because it's easy to play on - so I think 343 should have experimented a bit more. The opposite of that however appear to be the bland Forge maps on the way, which aren't doing the map pool any favors.

I think when Forge comes around we'll definitely see more creative (and better looking) maps show up, but 343 also needs to be delivering some more unique designs on their end.

Damn, seems even Fallout 4 can't totally pull me away from a good Halo game for any decent amount of time. Gonna play some Warzone for a while then probably do some Arena; still trying to get Onyx in either slayer or team arena. Just need a little luck I guess.

I think I already have a few people added from here but if anyone wants to play tonight or another time just add me then send me a short message so I know who you are. I play pretty much everyday and will be for a while.

Man.. I just don't understand people. Not to pick on you specifically, but this general sentiment has been bantered around here for days now regarding bad maps, lack of variety, poor art, not enough content etc etc.

Halo 5 has 8 viable arena maps available on launch:

Colliseum
Fathom
Truth
Regret
Eden
Empire
Plaza
The Rig

Plus the breakout maps and a few forge maps.

Sure 2 of them are remakes, but the design changes have a serious impact on how the matches play out. Enough so that I'm fine separating them out into their own maps. And every one of those maps displays a different aesthetic. Bad art? No variety? What?? Are we playing the same game?

I'm not going to make an argument that any of these maps are fall over dead amazing, but they are the definition of what makes a good arena map in Halo. Clear power positions, open sight lines, tons of routes in and out of areas, clear risk / reward incentives around the power weapons, powerups, and other high traffic areas, and tons of skill jumps that make use of the mobility options. You can tell that these maps were obviously meticulously crafted and play tested. I can already tell that the meta is going to be incredibly deep on these maps when given some time.

Then remember that this is just the launch. If this doesn't satisfy you, realistically I don't know what will.

Certain Affinity does nothing for me either. Their maps are too busy with all the lighting and effects going on. Halo is about having a clean aesthetic where everything is highly visible and able to be processed quickly. I don't want people standing in a shadow behind a bush sniping me like this Call of Duty or something.

I'm not going to argue about the others, because I like them, but Empire and another map whose name I can't remember (The Rig maybe?) look very very similar. They both have red and blue bases, and an outside area that curves around a stair area, with a pit on the inside of the map.

I can't remember what the other is called, but I didn't realize that they were two different maps at first because the design aesthetic is the same on both of them and the layout is so similar.

There are probably more polygons and texture data in Plaza than there is in the entirety of Halo CE.

No sir. These maps were designed for professionals only! No one else can enjoy them. Also per your earlier post - clearly Combat Evolved is the best Halo has to offer. Carry on.

Idk man played FFA out was too damn stressful, the spawns were a bit much, angry from putting in work to get my kills stolen.

Somehow managed to get onyx 1500

Yeah I don't see how the spawns in FFA weren't noticed before launch. Can't FFA be 6 people? Would be such a sweet spot, does all of Arena have to be 8 players?

They definitely need something to bring you back to single player. Weekly challenges, scoring, Req points, etc.

Yeah, like the daily and weekly challenges I used to do all the time in reach and Halo 4. Gave extra exp and another incentive to play. Imagine if they had a weekly challenge, defeat 3 wardens without using ADS, only hipfire on heroic or harder for a special REQ pack etc.

There is just nothing to do as a single player. No coop matchmaking, no firefight, no Spartan Ops, no campaign scoring, no theater, no fun skulls, no daily or weekly challenges, etc.

Two guys quit and then I got this message:

Much nostalgia.

When you get EU server:

lol is that a custom game?? Its the rocket launcher that makes me ask..

I could weep with joy at thought of playing this game on EU servers 100% of the time. How good does this game feel my American bros? I am begining to forget.

Also, I just watched the first three episodes of the fall of reach. Man that was good.

You can queue into Warzone solo and kill AI
