Can someone explain to me how the scrap works. If I pick up shitty items, they can all be used to build things right? Are they broken down to base materials when I move them into the junk section at the workbench?

Also can this be done with weapons? I haven't noticed weapon a degradation system so I have been dropping weapons I don't need.

There is a peel that let's you break guns down to pay for mods i believe.
I've just been storing them in my weapons workbench.

Played a few hours last day. I hope it gets better, because so far I'm pretty disappointed in this game.

The intro sequence is just bad. It felt rushed, nonsensical and all these obvious "Feel emotional now!" of "epic stuff happening" moments made me feel nothing but apathy. The minutemen quest in the second town just didn't make sense AT ALL.

However, I found that I spent more time building a base than exploring the world. I don't know if this mechanic has any longevity, bus so far it's okay. Where can I find copper for building stuff?
IT makes more Sense when you find the logs of the Rainer Group that were attacking them

AHHHHH this game is so awesome. My goty so far.

Anyways two quick questions: Love the settlement system, but how do I do lights? I attached one to my powered radio beacon but its not powering on and I don't have an option to connect a wire like the radio beacon had. Do I have to build a switch?

Second, when I find weapons with mods I like, such as a pipe pistols with comfort grip but... I already have a better one I just want the grip is there a way to scrap for just the mod, or is that a perk later on maybe?

Thanks for answering in advance, at work just wanted to know for when I get home. Such a cool game!

You need to put a conduit on the ceiling or wall and attach a wire from power to it, I managed to get 3 lights working with one conduit but then I moved one light and it stopped working so not sure exactly how it works

I love aiming a molotov at something only to have a companion step infront right as I'm releasing, so it blows up directly in my face

I'm still pretty early in the game but where exactly do I find
the Brotherhood of Steel?

Eventually you will get a distress call on the radio just south of Lexington, this will lead to them.

I don't know why but Dogmeat's continuous breathing like "hah hah hahh hahhh" is kinda annoying for me, hahahah, especially if I want some peace and quiet during my adventuring.

Huh, do I need to do anything to hear this distress call? I've been bumming around Lexington, just did The Last of Us over in the local Walmart. So I think I'm in the right general area?

This is my first Fallout game and I can see why it gets its appeal...it's addictive as fuuuuuuuuuck. Basically just had to force myself to stop playing right now or I would never sleep.

Loving this on PC so far, but technically, it's a mess. Having framerate issues in certain areas, major stuttering and the subtitles will commonly just freeze up.

Yeah the bit with minute men in the museum the whole subtitles were stuck. It was embarrassingly amateurish.

GAF is nuts, this is a very good looking game on PS4, absolutely destroys Witcher 3 in terms of anti-aliasing, lighting, and shaders. It regularly looks stunning. Facial animation not so much but they get the job done. Maybe it's a different story on PC compared to the standard there, but I'm really impressed with what they've done on PS4.

Just a little up from that place you were is a big ole factory. Up on the roof you will get the signal.

You will get a notification that you are picking up a police signal, then you can go into your pip boy and tune into it. This will put the marker on your map.

I got it on ground level, close railroad tracks that go over the river at the south of this area.

Umm... here you go *hands you Anti-Flaming equipment*

...Good luck!

They learnt nothing from Fallout 3 feedback?

They should add a muzzle as an item in a future patch.

Yeah, it's quite annoying for me personally. Though admittedly I never am a dog person, hahaha.

ughhhh wtf. Just had part of the ending spoiled for me in some Donald Trump meme shit on facebook. Clicked off before I read the whole thing, but still got a big point spoiled.

Needless to say the person that posted it is no longer on my friends list

I got spoiled in this very thread and then again in twitch chat. Needless to say I kinda wanna just rush the main questline and get that over with now that I know the ending so I can just chill and do settlement and sidequest stuff but that's probably not plausible. I usually don't care about the narratives in Bethesda games but I was kinda getting into this one a little bit and just as I was bada boom fuck you PepperedHam.

On a more positive note, I love the Diamond City radio DJ. Something about him is so hilarious to me.

what audio too?

Someone will start to say something, and it will imminently just skip the rest of the line. You can see the subtitle play, but it just goes to the next line of dialogue or the start of a whole new conversation completely. I have had two quests end like that.

NO WHERE IS SAFE BROTHERS AND SISTERS......

I got the F*&^King ending spoiled for me in Boom freaking Beach of all places.... Since went back on facebook and it's everywhere. Oh well...

Oh man this game. I'm so going to love it.
about 17hrs in. Level 15 or so. Absolutely amazing game. I got so many quests to do right now. I really need to get that list done first.

The items stay the way they are. There's basically an "additional" economy to the game where things that have high value also give "rare" scrap parts, so they stay that way in case you want to pick them up from the workbench and sell them.
Giddyup pieces, for example, weigh a lot and give plenty of caps, but have also screws which aren't as frequent to find as cloth or wood or steel.
So you not only have to keep in mind weight/value rates, but also value/materials, weight/materials, and materials/value rates.

To scrap weapons and armors you need the Scrapper perk, which goes for 5 INT.

Holy moly this thread moves fast!!!.

I'll be honest, I am not 100% sure what to make of the game.

I think it looks decent (on PS4), can't understand all the complaints about how bad it looks, it's not amazing, but it does look nice.

I can't get rid of the over riding feeling that, after FO3 and NV, I've done it all before, apart from the base building and crafting, I get a massive sense of deja-vu.

Also, I have had to have a word with myself about the junk, and I have promised myself that I won't pick up tons of junk that I *MIGHT* need, I will wait until I need mats for a certain upgrade and use the search tag option.

Otherwise I get seriously bogged down in picking up EVERYTHING and constantly becoming over encumbered.

TBH, there is crap everywhere, so it's not unlike I am going to wise out on something, on that note, what mats or junk can be considered as rare?

Started playing last night. The intro is pretty bad, it will be a chore to do all over again when I replay the game.

Anyway, my god the faces are ugly. The voice acting is not helping either. Together with the animation it ruined what I guess was supposed to be a scary emotional trip into the valve into something from a B-movie. Though it was fun to run into Nathan from Fallout 3 in the intro. But I have just started the game, I stopped playing to go to bed when I got out of the valve, and I am sure it will be great once I start actually playing the game.
Hold onto a save at the point just before leaving the vault at the elevator since you can change your change/edit your stats, appearance, etc here before hitting the wasteland.

Question about early in the game settlement:

i got to the point in sanctuary where I've built them beds, planted food, put in water pumps, built defense, etc. The quest description now says to talk to Sturges. Every time I talk to him the only dialogue option is to barter with him, which seems to do nothing. What am I supposed to do?

Talk to Preston...not Sturges.

I've seen someone else mention this too. Seems like it can easily be busted. I completed it fine.

About 12 hours in and I am loving it so far. I really enjoy the improved gun-play. Salvaging is great and it actually gives you a reason to loot things. No more repairs are nice too. The biggest complaint I have though (and for me it's really big) is the dialog system. It is probably the worst design choice I can think of for this game. There was nothing wrong with the old system. I used to love starting the game as a high charisma character and playing through the game passively because the games gave you unique dialog options. But now there is had been no difference in dialog besides maybe one different two word response (after playing 6 hours in the story and some side missions with two different builds). I actually started a new game because charisma (and to an extent Intelligence beyond just hacking) is basically pointless except for some perks I don't really care about.

Also the Dialog system bugs out a lot for me on PC. NPCs will just walk away from me or the two characters will stand and stare at each other till I have to walk away and reset.

I like the gameplay, but not the story. It's like Metal Gear V all over again.

I just tried this on a PC on Ultra, and I thought it looked pretty good, sometimes the graphics even left me in Awe. Although some stuff looks very very rough, I dont think anyone plays fallout for the graphics, they are just fine.

top 5 game visually on PC? it looks fucking amazing--best use of AO I've seen

I just have to quote this. Farcry came out in frikkin 2004. How many games have Crytek made since then? 4 more Crysis games? There you have your top 5. And yeah exactly, that's one studio.

That sucks, if anyone in my Task Force spoiled it for me I'd flip. Boom Beach is great though. The only mobile game I play.

I've got about 9hrs through remote play with my PsVita and things have been smooth. The buttons placement is good too. Will be playing the whole game this way. So far the only annoying thing is Npc sometimes have their sentences cut short which ruins the moment.
