Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Love the game. Haven't had this much fun with Halo multiplayer since Invasion in Reach.

Going to play through that campaign on legendary as soon as I get one of those fruit emblems....which could be a while.
 
Didn't notice much of a drop off due to Black Ops which is awesome.... there probably was though, but I just didn't notice it (Aus/NZ server).

LOVING the MP, I'm only Gold rated in Breakout/Swat/FFA and a lowly Silver 1 in Slayer, but man, this is the most fun I've had since Unreal 2003.

Finally put this game to bed last night. Overall it was ok, I guess. I still don't find fighting the Prometheans fun at all. I wish we could just stick with the Covenant. I hope for the next one they do away with the squad mechanic. It is completely useless. Not a fan of what they did with (story spoiler)

. And this series has managed to get even worse about conveying it's story. Way, WAY too dependent on media outside the game and even having consumed a lot of that, it still managed to loose me in spots. Maybe I missed a comic or a Mountain Dew bottle somewhere.

Probably not going to get into the multiplayer (which is what this thread seems to mostly be about at this point, it seems). Fallout 4 is out, and the skill gap 3 weeks(?) out from launch is not something I want to try and overcome.

That's not a good reason to not play multiplayer (especially considering it's really good). A couple weeks is nothing, plus the game has ranks so you'll be matched with players of similar skill after you play your 10 games in a playlist.

We'll see. I had mentioned previously that I had played a game and my team was razed 50 to 10 or something like that (on that same, boring looking level from the demo, no less). Not something that makes me want to jump back in right away. (Plus, ya know, Fallout 4.)

Jesus Christ I don't mind waiting a bit longer to have a local match. Your fast matchmaking is great, but in all honesty ain't worth fuck all to me or all the others that are saying the same thing as well.

Sort it out.. Please.

FFA.

I thought I did average in FFA at best- got placed in to Onyx. Ive played Slayer almost daily and just now made it to Diamond, for the same reasons you are struggling.

You really don't have to 'overcome' the skill gap. You are matched against players at your skill level...

Oi... reposting from elsewhere because relevant, but:

Yesterday I was placed in Diamond 1 in FFA... I probably blew it on my first game. Tried it at the end of a long night on day 2 of release and did poorly.

Placing: 7,1,1,3,1,1,1,1,2,2

Apparently I would have placed better had I played closer to launch, when seemingly everyone was getting Onyx (like my friend who went 1,4,8,1,7,2,1,7,2,6)

Does the ranking floor hold true for Onyx too? Or is it just Diamond and lower, you won't drop a tier once obtained? Seems odd if Onyx is protected like that, given the displayed rating

So ridiculous us CTF fans have to resort to trying to win a vote to play the mode we want. I pretty much play Halo for CTF and the only game in the series to have a dedicated CTF playlist 24/7 was Halo 4.

I'm with you man! Though i'd be even more excited for a Team Objective playlist of 4v4 CTF, Assault, Team Oddball, Neutral Bomb and Strongholds.
 
I'm glad BTB is ranked. The ranking system in general has been great. I am getting some of the best most fun matches of my Halo career.

Ranked BTB...we really can't have that in the background? The Arena hopper is in desperate need of Social Slayer and Social Big Team playlists.

I would argue that there should be some modes that are just 100 percent unranked

The weekend lists, btb, action sack - making them competitive just takes away the silly fun that can sometimes happen when people aren't 100 play to win

im looking forward to btb all the same but hope that ranked doesn't make it super hardcore

Also agree. We need an action sack, casual BTB and other shenanigans lists... I honestly can't believe there isn't one or two yet. Is this really supposed to be all serious business all the time? That's no fun... and that's coming from someone who hates Warzone and loves super competitive play. Even i'm not monster 343i. Give us some social love.
 
Happy BTB is ranked but I really want a social playlist that is not Warzone. Alternatively give me a Warzone Slayer playlist or add it as a variant to Assault.
 
Had a weird glitch where bronze packs stopped giving me common permanent unlocks (and started giving 500 RP) the other day so I moved onto mostly silvers, but I still had a common AR variant left to find.

I noticed last night on Waypoint. It did end up dropping from a silver pack.

Anyway, my math might be off slightly depending on how many rare emblems are tied to commendations rather than packs, but I'm at roughly 55 silver packs left before I can move onto gold.

Also, I was checking out HaloTracker to find out just how much I've been poopsocking. I'm at SR 64. Looks like the highest is SR 94 right now - dude has almost a thousand Warzone Assault games played with a 99% win rate.
