Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

So cheating in Warzone Assualt is a thing... Attackers can cap the second base before the 1st one, instantly opening the core up to attack...

It happened to me this morning and I assumed it was just a one-off glitch. But I saw a post on waypoint that suggests people are using this exploit pretty frequently...

I hope the fix it soon.

I love warzone and hate warzone assault. I haven't had an actual assault match-type yet in warzone assault so that may be why, but overall I'm thoroughly enjoying the standard warzone mode. Had a lot of great moments so far.

BTB being ranked I'm fine with to an extent. It'll mean more balanced(and thus more fun btb matches). But sometimes I just want to go on BTB with a bunch of friends and wreck havoc on the opposing team. I know it's not fun for the other side probably but it was fun for me and my buddies back in Reach and Halo 3 to just go to town on the opposing team the whole game.

Also I'm still waiting on that infection playlist 343... as well as the hammer DLC for my griffball needs.

Do you play with a party?

Your rationale doesn't make sense. I thought a reason to play a video game is because the gameplay is fun.

Reason to play doesn't make sense here.
What if fun is subjective and I continue playing because I think ranks are fun. If Btb wasn't ranked I would rarely touch it.

Sounds like this is probably in Assault?

Edit: Duh, you said Attackers.

Had the Assault thing happen a min ago, I thought the audio had glitches out, lol.

Why don't you guys just admit you don't want ranked so you can shit on some BKs? There's nothing wrong with having to play people of your skill level. I imagine BTB will be full of mixed skill parties anyways.

Yeah, ranks are fun and all, but BTB stands on its own 2 feet as well. Anyways, ranks get reset monthly.

Nope, I am just tired of facing parties. Either give me a lone wolves playlist or social.

That's not it at all for me. I just want to go in there and mess around, and I don't really care how I do.

Do you play with a party?

No, I play solo. I occasionally play with my two brother in laws and their wives. I am right in the meatiest part of the bell curve though in terms of ranking though so that may help.

This is another reason why I am glad it is ranked. I want teammates that are at least trying to win. I don't wanna play with people goofing off which happens a lot in BTB. I wanna play the game as intended. This is not a criticism of you in anyway. You are of course free to play anyway you choose but just on my take on it. I want to play with those of like skill and see how we do. I don't want to get bothered or harassed constantly by somebody that is bored and thinks it's hilarious or with those that are admiring the skybox or god knows what else.

I play a lot of solo arena, there's really not even a way to tell when you're facing a party? I doubt there's going to be many 8 man parties playing BTB anyways.

Nothing is stopping you from doing that?

When the playlist is ranked, people go tryhard, and so do I.

There probably should be 3 ranked and 3 social playlists with the weekend playlist (which should be social) and BTB having both a ranked and social setting. I'm starting to think that EVERYTHING in Arena shouldn't be ranked.

The maps might not be built for this, but social could have 5v5 with ranked Arena maintaining a focused 4v4 as well.

If you fight it out go positive and have flag stops or something. You shouldn't rank down atleast. Neutral rank would make a lot of sense. Having a guy die 20 times will usually result in a loss. Some idiots just keep running trying to punch every spawn

Atleast this would keep more people trying to play instead of giving up with a bad team

When I start a game 4 and 0 and the score is 8 to 5 I already know we lost.

Just don't feel like trying and start to surf gaf and stay back more. You can't win in this game like you could halo 3. People die too much.

This is certainly not unique to Halo 5. It has always been the case.

BTB has always been made for crazy fun though? Also, it's kind of silly to not want people "goofing off." The mentality that encapsulates those thoughts is troublesome and the reason many want a social playlist. Majority just want to get on and blow each other up and have fun with buddies.

Which gives me even more of a reason to play it. I enjoy ranking up. It's one of the reasons why I don't give a shit about Warzone.

Well, Warzone sucks to be honest lol. The concept that a rare req card can be negated by one person is just dumb to me.

Majority are partied up in the arena, especially the higher ranks.

I remember when halo 3 social slayer went from 4v4 to 5v5 and it killed it for me - 4v4 is the sweet spot.

It's a bit like 8 player ffa - too many players turn the game into a clusterfuck and not even in a fun way

Yeah, was playing with a group last night and we were legit shook when they skipped the Spire and capped the Armory ...

This needs to be fixed. It's pretty ridiculous because they were NO WHERE NEAR taking the Spire and next thing you know, we're backed into the Base.

Wasted a rare XP boost on that match.

Which map, or both?

You know what I think would be good for Halo matchmaking: instead of figuring your skill purely on whether or not you win a match, they should gauge your individual and team performance, against a pregame spread.

the system would look at the make up of each team, and make assumptions about how the game will playout... Sort of like how Vegas predicts point spreads for NFL games...

If you and your team play better than the assumed spread, then your skill ranking should go up. If you under perform, it would go down...

If a team statistically SHOULD win by a blow out, but instead win by 1, maybe they aren't as good as their ranks show... On they other side, if a team nearly pulls of a major upset, they are probably better than there rankings suggest...

This system could also be applied to individual performance, so that people who carry their team, even in defeat, get some recognition for their skills.

Game is a lot better at higher ranks than lower ranks. No one quits anymore, and I've only had one bad match where my teammate didn't try so we lost. This is going in as a party of two as well. Even solo is better now because the people that weren't good at this game or just trying out halo for the first time are gone and all that's left is the people who want to try and win which is nice.

This is from my experience anyways going in mainly as a party of two or three from the past week.

If you want to see why forcing 10 players into maps that are built for 8 is a bad idea, just hop on MCC and play Halo 4, a lot of the maps are clusterfucks because there are simply too many people.

BTB is fun and crazy at times I agree. I do not agree that it is too much to ask that you don't spend the whole game driving our Warthogs in the water and thus killing yourself and destroying the warthog the whole game. A small example of what I have encountered in my time in BTB. I could care less about the rank but if it is the only way to help this from not happening so be it.

I'd sign up for the feedback program if you haven't already they seem to look at data a lot. I have been advocating for fair, similar skilled matches since it started. You may want to join if for nothing else just to offset my opinions lol.

LOL. Not calling you out specifically. But reading the comments here about it being ranked, you all really just want to wreck shit, but don't want to get wrecked. so how do you think the other team feels when they get matched with people much higher than they should?

The game does need a social playlist but the reason why given by this thread is terrible.

How is your experience with the API so far, i was thinking of writing and hosting
a private telegram bot, so me and my friends can easily get some halo 5 data
like the percentages needed for next rank. Shame the game doesn't shows it ingame
i saw something like that in a json data dump somewhere.
I haven't looked too much with the profile stuff yet, so I don't know if that's a thing quite yet.

I'd be interested in helping with that if you want contributors? I'm comfortable with pretty much any language that isn't Objective C.

I've being doing heaps of meta stuff with the Halo API. Mainly this JS client which now has unit tests with JSON schemas...

I also produced API documentation from my TypeScript sources which is super useful.

I'll poke around for help on H5O or whatever I decide to call it further on down the road. Right now, I'm just making deserialized classes for Java and experimenting a bit with some Python things. I've been watching what you've been posting in the API forum. It's pretty helpful stuff tbh.

Is the argument of starting off the game 4-8 and you being the only person with kills(4) equalling a loss really being used? I have played dozens of games where we start horribly. Sometimes down 10 plus kills. Yet I don't quit or stop trying, in fact I also have been able to win a large number of those said games by coming back.

Stop giving up on your team 20 seconds into the match.

You know this is odd. I hear of everybody getting destroyed by spawns in BO3 but I haven't been spawn killed once. Maybe it's my luck lol

The thing about the content is that when you have such a good mode such as Breakout, at least for me, then I won't play anything else besides the occasional Warzone and not even notice the lack of content if there even is XD

Warzone is awesome even if the practice of P2W is kinda eh, and I really wish BO3 had that wow factor Multiplayer mode. My biggest complaint with BO3 is that there isn't really any different game modes.

I love breakout and swat but the lack of maps and quitters make it hard for me to play it for a long period of time.

I love warzone when it's competitive but all to often I've been in games that are lopsided.

I agree with you about BO3. None of the modes really stand out to me. I enjoy it for what it is a face pace fps, but I enjoy the slower and longer combat of Halo much more. It's more skill base IMO

Could be that I'm just getting old and can't handle the low ttk games anymore lol

I had a horrible teammate a week or so ago

I started the game really badly - about 2 mins in I was like 1-5 it was a disaster.

I started to pull it back and finally got a double kill to start to pull it back - would have got the triple if my teammate didn't accidentally ar me

Oh wait what - he's still shooting me

I end the game heavy neg because a guy spent the game betraying me for having a bad start

The most annoying part was I couldn't boot him because for whatever reason every time he would finish me off it would count as the enemies kill

First game I went neg in - I couldn't believe my rough start to that game but I honestly think it would have been fine if I didn't have a teammate go full idiot on me

Why would you want 5v5?

I remember when halo 3 social slayer went from 4v4 to 5v5 and it killed it for me - 4v4 is the sweet spot.

The maps probably don't support it so 5v5 is a bad idea, but my main suggestion was ranked/social split. I think the social playlists should be the wacky, crazy fun game types that can't be competitive (action sack, Griffball, etc.) while ranked can be Team Arena, Team Slayer, and maybe Objective?

There should be limited playlists but social and ranked should serve two different styles of Halo.

Halo 4: Built for casuals, chasing the COD crowd
Halo 5: Built for pros, no fun for casual play

Or course, there's a middle ground, but some of ya'll just need to fess up and admit the lust you have to dong on scrubs in an unrestricted manner in social playlists.

Yeah I agree with all of this. I think the ranked side is okay right now (would personally like an objective list but if the data shows it would be difficult to maintain population I'm okay with Arena), but when I come home from work on weekdays I'm usually too tired to play properly and would just like to play some silly games where I don't have to concentrate without hurting my team mates.

Edit: I get this is what Warzone is for, and I do enjoy it, but it's not quite the same as FFA Oddball, KOTH, Griffball, and so on.

Took me forever to find my medals on Waypoint service record.. apparantly my best medal is Killtrocity (Obviously in SWAT) but I've never remembered to record it. Wonder if I can find one in Theatre.
