That easy, huh? Holy shit, gonna go grab it now then.

Supposed to be one of the best guns too. As it one shots most things. I would save it for tough enemies :) Since it has only a 200 ammo thing. You can get ammo much more later in the game.

Holy shit at the RNG outcome of some optional stuff. I tried convincing someone to do something and the person refused. I quickloaded 10 times with the same outcome, 11th time suddenly the person was "okay sure why not".

You can use him to get the gun that is locked in the vault early in the game. Supposed to be one of the best guns in the game too. Dogmeat is "Master lock doge!"

WHATTT!
I am doing this later.

Anyhow the game is bugged like a mofo. For the first 3 hours I had an issue where the dialog camera can project a 1400x900 window on top of the the in-game camera. Also I had to kill two quest givers in order to finish a quest. The quest involves
a shipment of drugs going to Diamond City and where they make them.
Also the dogmeat was whimpering when I killed them, I still can't get that out of my head.

Go back. Stand in front of the case. Ask the dog to fetch item. He'll go, open the container, and get the gun for you.
wut.

Man, for all the options it presents you, Unluckly Valentine seems to actually only shake out two ways.

You have several options that make use of Charisma, but all of them that I tried (I got lost on the way out a couple times trying to find a good exit) end in Darla leaving and Skinny counting to 10. You can talk Darla down, or convince Skinny that Darla is the problem, or taunt both of them... but it seems like that's the only outcome besides attacking them unless I'm missing something
.

Not a *huge* deal since the characters are at least a lot of fun in that quest, but I hope this isn't indicative of how all the choices shake out.

Here's a tip for the Workshop and a mini rant about its horrendous UI:

When walking around in Workshop mode, note how if you face certain items (and are close enough to them), they'll either highlight in yellow or green. Yellow items can only be broken down into parts, but green items can either be broken down or sent directly to the Workshop.

The game does a terrible job of conveying to you how exactly the storage system works. When you're browsing through items in Workshop mode, those in storage will have a number below their portrait representing how many of them are stored.

Here's an example in which I've stored one basic chair (notice the "1" below its portrait):

Although you can clearly see in the screenshot that this chair will supposedly cost me 4 Wood and 1 Plastic to place down, items in storage actually don't cost anything to place! After placing this chair, I'll still have 16 Wood and 8 Plastic to work with. If I were to place another immediately afterwards, however, it would cost me 4 Wood/1 Plastic since I'd already placed the one in storage.

Wouldn't it be nice if the game actually presented this information in a clearer manner, like greying out the resource requirements for items in storage or even replacing the number of required resources with 0s? The Workshop as a whole just feels like a rush job to me.

Speaking of chairs, how do I make the one for the
old seer woman at Sanctuary?
She keeps saying she can't wait for a nice chair and I've made like 30 of them and surrounded her but she won't sit in them.

Oh, man. I totally missed this. Heading back with Dogmeat right after my Wednesday afternoon nap.

Bahhh might restart. I am not sure why I specced 7 STR to start. I have no intention of using melee weapons at all!

I MIGHT want to use heavy weapons but I am more interested in snipers and other precision weapons. Shotgun is fun too.

Is there a list of some of the big guns in the game?

I usually hum and haw about things like this in every RPG so I just went 4 in every category.

Im starting to really like it tbh. It covers most of the things I want to do, and I have my eye on maybe one or two perks that are higher up.

I think for a first run through, 4s is a decent setup.

Guys, guys. You're making things harder for yourself than they need to be. Just bring some Power Armor and FUCK THEM UP. That video I just linked is on the hardest difficulty.
Believe me I'd love to do that but my stupid fusion core is dead and I have yet to find another one. Not really searching as of yet as I've gotten side tracked doing so much stuff with my settlement - a feature I thought for sure I'd pass on. Addicted much? lol

I might use this too then.

This may be a super noob question, but I still haven't found any other way to break down junk to its usable components than to drop it all onto the ground, go into Workshop mode and break then down that way. Is there really no bench to be able to do this at?!

If this is the only way to do this, then someone on the Dev team should be fired...

There's a specific one that appears in your Workshop as it's own entry for her. You don't build any of the ones in the default "Furniture -> Chairs" section.

For sure there's a fusion core in the
Satellite dish building near Tenpines Bluff.

Just deposit it all into any Workbench. It will be broken down on the fly as you build stuff

I was so excited to play with the dog companion, but after 5 minutes he annoyed the fuck out of me with his barking, peeping and all those constant annoying sounds in my headset. Had to swap him for another companion. :<

I expected to be able to interact with the dog in more ways, like giving it a wider range of commands. The way they hyped it up at E3, I really expected more from it.

Are there any good tutorials for the whole building a settlement aspect of the game? Super confused, especially setting up things that require power.

When you access a bench hit "transfer" instead of the other option. Then, you will see a button that says "transfer all junk". I believe this will do what you need. The resources are then there in your workbench when you need them.

I have a weird relationship with this game. Sometimes it clicks and it's the best thing ever, other times it's the worst thing ever. I guess I just don't like the combat at all, and there's a lot of combat here.

Dogmeat keeps disapearing, I saw him inside an elevator with me after a few hours of not seeing him, then he disapeared again, is this a known bug?

I do this all the time. Specially to free up my inventory and free the space. Really tempted to mod in a larger amount i can hold for items.

I did the same thing.

There should be an option for 'special' segment of the workshop (leftmost), which is where that chair is.

Junk is broken down automatically when you build things

Molerats were such cute critters in Fallout 3 and New Vegas.. now they are outright terrifying. The amount of jump scares they've given me..

Minuteman question.

if I help rebuild the Minutemen would that lock into their group? Without spoiling anything, if there are other groups I don't want to locked out.

Just got it, thanks! That's hilarious.

Don't thank me. Thank Dogmeat.

But that doesn't help when you're trying to build Mods, right? I thought the Transfer was just to store materials for the Settlement building.

That whole UI is a fury inducing mess, if I wasn't weirdly obsessed with building a five story, shanty town in Sanctuary Hills for no good reason, I wouldn't engage with it at all.

I think you're correct. I tried all the different ways as well.
In the when he started counting down, I dropped a Nuka Grenade on him and he died. I wonder if he plays into a later mission?

So, is there anything else to do in vault 75?

I checked the Overseer's terminal and the quest just ended. I was expecting something a bit better than that. Oh well, at least I found some decent weapons.

After playing for 5 hours, I'm going to start over again.

I've spent too many points on CHR and now I also have a better impression what Fallout is about (first game in the series for me).

And what will you be spending your points on? I am only an hour in so I am curious...

Also, this gun behind the glass case that people are talking about, is it in Vault 111 (the vault you wake up in) or a different one?

I do this all the time. Specially to free up my inventory and free the space. Really tempted to mod in a larger amount i can hold for items.

First thing I did was open the console and set my carryweight to 1,000,000. It's probably overkill, but I'm such a klepto in these games. Let's just say I'm ready for the broom dungeon.

Code:
player.modav carryweight x

Dogmeat keeps disapearing, I saw him inside an elevator with me after a few hours of not seeing him, then he disapeared again, is this a known bug?

I've read that if you sleep in a settlement for 24 hours your companion should return. Give that a try.

I have a weird relationship with this game. Sometimes it clicks and it's the best thing ever, other times it's the worst thing ever. I guess I just don't like the combat at all, and there's a lot of combat here.

I started out hating the combat, but I found two key-binding changes made it way, way better.

Changing entering VATS to "v" and throwing a grenade to the middle mouse button made everything work sooo much more smoothly.

And now I'm back to using nothing but VATS.

Oh, also, crafting better weapons. Adding a scope onto the bolt action pipe rifle completely changed the combat difficulty.

But that doesn't help when you're trying to build Mods, right? I thought the Transfer was just to store materials for the Settlement building.

All junk deposited can then be used when you craft mods for guns, armor, etc. I have not broken down one piece the way you were saying and I have been modding the crap out of my guns.

I need help please guys. I'm playing on PS4 and my game seems to be glitched on the Clear Concord of Hostiles section near the beginning of the game. Trying to avoid spoilers, I've killed everything in the area but the mission won't progress.

The only thing I did that could have caused this was leave the museum, take down most of the raiders and quick travel back to Sanctuary to clear my junk before I actually went to the roof. Any suggestions that anyone knows of to get past this section?

Dogmeat keeps disapearing, I saw him inside an elevator with me after a few hours of not seeing him, then he disapeared again, is this a known bug?
I got so frustrated with him walking off cliffs and just disappearing that I took the Lone Wolf perk (or whatever it's called) and decided to just go about playing on my own. I like the added weight capacity and damage reduction along with not having to worry about my companions. I assume later I might need to revisit this but as it is now, I'm just going at things alone.

Yeah you should definitely be upgrading your weapons if you find the combat difficult. It's crazy how much damage one upgrade can do. My 10mm Pistol called First Love (the one you get in the beginning of the game) has a wicked amount of damage now, just from me changing out the receiver.
