Basically it depends on what you already have.

Bronze if you're just starting, as you'll get basic certifications quickly and cheaply
(You'll know you've got everything in the bronze REQ pool when they keep giving you Arena and Warzone boost REQ's)

The silver until you have all of the uncommon/rare certifications

Then gold for getting all the really rare stuff and beyond.

There's little reason to buy gold until you've got some time into the game, unless your going for legendary weapons and etc.

Same, in my case it went:

  • My team defending Spire
  • Enemy team still hasn't taken it after 4 minutes
  • Enemy team captures Armory
  • Clock is reset to 6 minutes, My team still told to defend Spire on HUD waypoint
  • Bottom right HUD objective changed to "Defend the Armory" though
  • My team's respawn point though is now back at home base(!)
  • Enemy team captures Spire
  • Clock is reset to 6 minutes, My team told to defend Core
  • My team defends Core for 6 minutes and we win despite this exploit

Finally, did my placement matches for Team Arena. Was scared to do it at first because of Breakout, but ended up kicking ass in it. In two matches I went 19-6 and won both. Out of the 13 matches I played of Team Arena today only lost 3. Last match went 17-8 in Slayer on Eden and lost :(. The guy/girl/little kid (yes there was what sounded like a Toddler) that went 0-15 definitely did not help.

Is anyone else noticing the hit registration feels much smoother after the server downtime? Maybe it is just me, I did contact Time Warner and they sent an update to my modem (that also finally allowed me access to it) so I could setup Static IP's for some of my devices.
 
Holy shit that was nice tonight. Apart from two games, it was almost like 343 had finally flipped the switch. We're almost there 343.
 
I feel like there are no gold players playing. I'm just constantly getting steam rolled by Diamond/Platinums.

Game desperately needs a casual mode. Going 4-13 and 2-10 is just not fun at all.

Halo 5 |OT2| - Reclamation Has Begun

I wanted to use that title back in Halo 4 OT's for when Didact said it at the end, but I think it works better now for anyone who's beaten H5.

Eventually they'll allow the community OT back, especially when Halo Wars news starts. We would be on OT26 at this point.

Yeah, I found them on Hot UK deals. Absolutely insane price given the RRP is £250 and they rarely drop below £200.

Arena rank is almost up to my alts (diamond).

I really do wish at the very least it SAID which server you were playing on. Then if I notice improvements on EU I know it's the connection and not just me sometimes doing unusually well.

Do 2 Silver until you unlock most of the uncommons.

Basically, and this goes for everyone getting REQ, this is the best choice. I mean, you've got Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra Rare and Legendary cards.

Bronze only has Commons
Silver has Commons to Rares with 2 guaranteed permanent unlocks.
Gold has Uncommons to Legendaries with 2 guaranteed permanent unlocks.

As a few people have explained, unless you are somehow guaranteed to get at least a single Ultra Rare, there is no reason to get a Gold REQ, since they're still heavily weighted towards Uncommon cards. You could blow 10,000 REQ points and get 2 Uncommons or you could blow 10,000 REQ points and get 4 Uncommons.

There's the miniscule chance that you'll get an Ultra Rare or Legendary, but after like 7 Gold REQs I've gotten exactly 1. That makes sense and all, but I've had better luck with Gold packs.

Silver packs have unlocked certifications for a bunch of crap I don't want to use, whereas Gold packs have gotten me a ton of mantises and scorpions, as well as better boosts. I usually wind up selling anything that isn't a tank, banshee, mantis, boost, sniper rifle, or random vehicle/weapon (uncommon or better).

The way I see it, you get better certs on average in gold packs, and you can stash them while you unlock everything else. After all, once you have EVERYTHING certified, your boosted odds of acquiring that item are no more, since everything else is boosted as well. There's diminishing returns there.

Like you said, it all comes down to chance/luck. I've just had better luck with my gold pack openings.
 
Missed the discussion, but the reason Halo 5 is down is because it's missing a lot of what 'hooks' people. What are the forgers supposed to do? There's nothing there for them. What are the fans of BTB supposed to do? What good is Warzone for them when they don't even have Banshee or Warthog REQ's like someone here was saying.

There is no firefight, there's no Spartan Ops, there's no campaign scoring or theater (useful for easily capturing and showing speedruns). Play 4-5 matches of Arena, get tired of randoms. Play 4 matches of Warzone and stop. I think it'll go back up once BTB and Forge come, and once the playlists get streamlined. Remove Breakout from Team Arena, it plays too different from the base game. Add in a Doubles permanent playlist.

yea i've gone back to MCC (shudders) to mess around with Forge until December. Arena is fun for 5 games, but it's the same thing over and over. What's the incentive to keep playing? Ranks? lol

That and the lack of basic custom game options and the lack of, King of The Hill, Oddball, Assault, Infection, Race, ect. The game is just missing too much in the way of basic Halo multiplayer. One of the biggest complaints about Halo 4 was how 343i either changed or neglected to add certain gametypes into the game. It's a shame they decided not to take those issues into account for this game's launch as it will surely hurt the population and longevity of this game.
 
Completed Co-OP Legendary ! That was nuts. Only need a few more co-op type achievements and to actually get a match on the winter warzone map and win. Msg me if you all want to do achievements. GT: defendthecasual
 
Tee hee.

Played a game of warzone, 300 points in my team got all 3 bases. Enemy counterattack was on the way. My and some other guy on a ghost slipped past them and took out the enemy core. As soon as the victory screen comes up I can here the enemy team. Not shitting when I say at least 6 guys immediately go 'wtf just happened? It's over already! Fuck's sake. Who the fuck let that happen? Jesus Christ!'

In a moment of silence, I say 'Xbox Record that'.

Man they went bonkers. It's quite a cool feeling when a group of people immediately start yelling at you, calling you every name under the sun.

I'll be smiling about this all week.
