Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

That makes sense and all, but I've had better luck with Gold packs.

Silver packs have unlocked certifications for a bunch of crap I don't want to use, whereas Gold packs have gotten me a ton of mantises and scorpions, as well as better boosts. I usually wind up selling anything that isn't a tank, banshee, mantis, boost, sniper rifle, or random vehicle/weapon (uncommon or better).

The way I see it, you get better certs on average in gold packs, and you can stash them while you unlock everything else. After all, once you have EVERYTHING certified, your boosted odds of acquiring that item are no more, since everything else is boosted as well. There's diminishing returns there.

Like you said, it all comes down to chance/luck. I've just had better luck with my gold pack openings.

Sure luck plays a part, but basic statistics should govern how people generally spend there Req points...

If you are just starting out your req collection, the best most efficient way to spend is to start with Bronze, then move to silver, then move to gold...

If you start with gold, it will take you longer to accrue points, then when you spend them, you will often end up with common permanents anyway. That's a waste. Sure you'll occasional get some nice single use cards, but getting certifications if more fruitful.

Buy a ton of bronzes first. Doing so will up you chances of getting rarer cards in silver. The same will apply when you start going for gold.

I think I'm done with Halo 5. I have it a fair shake. I wasn't going to even buy it but received it as a gift. There are just too many things about this game that either don't feel like Halo, or just are wrong.

-Aim acceleration.
-Lack of game types on launch.
(People can say reach was bad all day but the amount of options on launch is still the best to this day.)
-No split screen to share with my friends.
-No Lan
- Poor map design (too many sight lines and cover is either poor or insanely easy to grenade)
-TTK is too low. (Not enough opportunity to turn fights in your favor)
- Sprint (just all the things listed a thousand times that break halo staples)
- Thruster and grenades. (Thruster to avoid grenades, grenades made bigger to counter thrust)

I could go on. Never mind the way they've butchered characters and lore. I WANT SO BADLY to love halo, but I just can't get behind the lazy writing and the incredibly questionable design decisions. It only makes me all that much more angry how badly they botched MCC, never even allowing classic halo to have its chance to come back.

343 I hope you're happy. You're systematically destroying the thing I loved most. :/

It sucks that you don't like the game, but I feel obligated to remind folks that Halo5 TTK is basically the same as every other Halo game... Except for halo:CE which has the shortest TTK of all...

If you can't turn things around like previous Halo's, it's likely that you aren't as good at this game as your were at the others.

Also this games grenades have nothing on Halo:Ce's mini-nukes

It's so frustrating man.. I might have to play this game less until BTB comes around or until more people are familiar with Halo 5 not being Call of Duty.

They should keep releasing a 2001 game.

Well said. So many incorrect opinions based on imaginary facts around here. #gaf #believe #loveit

So strange to hear such a different experience. After near completing disconnecting from the series post 3, I feel drawn deeper back into the fold by 5 than I ever would've imagined. The MP is just firing on all cylinders for me.

Someone please help me out here. There is just so much fucking lag on WZ. People won't die. NEVER. am in EU.

What the fuck should I do. No matter what I do what weapon I use, how many health the enemy got left. The won't die.

343.. What the fuck are you doing?

Is this how dedicated servers works?

I'm the same. I've changed my gamertag since I last played Reach but I'd be surprised if I had more than 20 hours /played. For comparison I have about 300 hours in Halo 3. Somewhere around 20 hours in Halo 5 so far and my only problem is that I need more content, which is an infinitely better situation than having a massive amount of content but disliking the core gameplay.

Man I just love playing lazy Halo so much.

Neglecting the BR and just using the Boltshot and SMG, and Plasma Launchers and Hydra's. Not having to aim and just screwing around letting the game get kills for you while you just have fun.

Halo 5 is apparently a US-only game. *sigh*

I also am flabbergasted why people don't expect to be matched up with parties. There is no split screen or LAN. That means anyone who doesn't want to solo queue will be in a party.

So they should really implement a solo/party split first, and then join up for when the matchmaking time is too long trying to find party vs party or solo vs solo. Solo vs 4 man party shouldn't happen first.

I was at the time specifically thinking of the smg which has a crazy fast kill time. I understand not being good at the game. I have never been overtly good at a halo game at launch. You have to acclimate and learn new systems etc. my problem with H5 is that I feel like it is actively working against me with things like the aim acceleration (at least they're addressing it) and the terrible spawns and map design. Halo 5 is also especially terrible and letting me know how I died. Hell, the kill feed will often times just say X killed X. No cause of death, just, you're dead, because. Then you can't turn the camera after death often times. The game is, in my opinion not allowing me to get better due to poorly designed pieces and inconsistent feedback it gives the player.

I've spoken to many people. Some are more sensitive to these things than others. Some don't notice, and for others it's a red thumb that can't be ignored.

I'm in the EU and have barely ran into any issues with servers. Had maybe 1 or 2 laggy games in about 15 to 20 hours.

I've spent two days and 6 hours in WZ. And the problems just keeps getting worse and worse.

Everything went smoothly at launch but it's a disaster now.

My bullets has zero affect. Like one guy yesterday, I shot him 3. Times with the dmr, melee from behind, shot him again two times and nothing happens. Two rocket lauchers on the face, nothing happens, Am having hard time killing the marines at the bases. Like I said, my bullets just doesn't reach the enemies or something. No effect.

Yep... I'm with you guys, warden eternal is worth way too many points.

It's an absolute lottery, out team was just unloading on him, and the other team somehow hot the kill, next thing they are ahead for the first time in the match then went on to an undeserving win.

That's pretty frustrating, it's happened to all of us and it just sux.

I'm starting to think I may have experienced some of this. EU server as well. A few times my kill would also pop up a second or more after my own death, as if there was some sort of delay with it. 25mb connection here, so it's not like I have slow Internet.

I've had that happen to me in the US but I think it's the result of either a marine finishing off the person that killed me or their teammates killing them with grenade spam and me getting credit for the kill.

That said, there are times it's 800-400 and Warden Eternal doesn't even seem like enough points to save us.

Wow, this post really hit home with me. I now realize how fucking ridiculous I sound when I pick apart every single aspect of a game instead of just enjoying the damn game.

I should just play what I enjoy, and stop nitpicking and stressing myself out over things like this. Thank you sir for snapping me out of my cloud of bullshit and ridiculous expectations.

Sorry about last night. I was about to go to sleep. You probably wouldn't enjoy grouping with me anyway. I've only played 10 games so far and I am so bad at this game lol. Somehow I hit platinum which is middle of the pack but even that is probably higher than I should have ranked lol.

What should the incentive be?

Please don't say weapon unlocks.

I'd just like a fully PvE version of warzone, with firefight as its inspiration. RNG+PVP doesn't work for me.
Yeah, the lack of modes and features is disappointing. Firefight is the biggest omission, of course, but I also miss "smaller" stuff like Campaign Theatre and Campaign Scoring (seriously, why isn't this in the game?) A couple of social playlists (with join in progress) and some kind of Mercenary playlist (no parties) would be nice. The map variety isn't great either, but I guess it will get better over time, with Forge and the free DLC. Hopefully the DLC maps will be less dark and industrial looking, and more like the classic Halo maps.

I really enjoy the core gameplay, but the game needs more content and variety. Heh, now that I think about it, Halo 5 is kind of the opposite of Halo Reach, which had tons of features and modes, but a somewhat annoying gameplay IMO.

And I don't really need any extra incentives to keep playing (beyond the game being good of course) Progression systems with xp, loot drops, etc, do nothing for me personally (sorry Bungie)

Playing some CE right now and the aiming feels a lot smoother. I can't wait for those aim assist settings.
Yep, at first I had zero problems with the aiming system in Halo 5, but after going back to Halo CE (to help a friend with some achievements) I noticed the aiming felt much better. IDK why though...

I know this sounds incredibly unnecessary but they need to make it so you can't shoot your own core in Warzone. That's two games now where the other team got all 3 bases and two players in our team just started shooting our core. I jumped in a Gost and was firing at them to get them to stop and they start firing back, I the run them over, they re spawn - start shooting it again, I run them over. Repeat.

I the get kicked to the lobby for killing a player in our team.

Fuck people!

could campaign scoring be patched in?
its omission here is really bugging me. I just do not understand why it isn't in the game as it does much to prolong my enjoyment of Halo's single player campaign.

Finally getting used to the aiming (a bit this might take a while) The multiplayer is really polished and definitely has Halo written all over it. But that damn radar. Jesus it's just unfair. You just can't have a game with sprint and spartan charge without a functional radar. Honestly this really needs to be fixed. Not everyone can play with a functional team with headsets this is absurd.

Yeah, I got 100mb so no problems here with the connection.

Do 343 know about that?

Holy shit. I was playing Fallout all day today and I decided to play a few Warzone Assault matches to get a Silver since I already had 1600 RP from last time I played.

Lo and behold...

I can finally stop whining about not getting Noble armor!
still need the helmet tho

TBH I expect it to be patched in at some point.

man I sure hope so. ive been enjoying Halo 5 a great deal but there are a lot of points (large and small) that stick out in my mind as definite knocks against the game, including:

lack of campaign scoring
non customizable emblems (that don't even appear on player armor)
a pre game player list that does not provide me with gamertags or any other relevant info

there are other things I dislike about that game but I'm saving those for a more in depth write up

TBH I expect it to be patched in at some point.

Doubtful. Especially with enemy AI. I mean no matter how much you try as well, they take a lot of kills. And in the large areas, you get downed too quick trying to go Rambo taking them all out. So scoring would be so random in that, you got less points in one run because Kelly got a headshot that you were supposed to get or in another run you gave everyone fuel rod guns etc.

I now also believe that the non-interactive sequences in campaign, coupled with all the button pressing loading or 'speak' to so and so and trigger events is the reason full theater never panned out.

It just sucks that the game feels so barebones in that sense. Don't get why none of the cool Halo 2 Anniversary skulls weren't added either. Do you know how much I'd replay some missions on legendary over and over if I got something like infinite ammo? No firefight, no Spartan Ops etc.
