Restarted with a female character hellbent on revenge. Being familiar with some of the early locations and systems, as well as my new RP take on the game, I'm enjoying it a lot more.

However, I think a large part of my newfound enjoyment is staying the hell away from the ugly and bland downtown areas. The game is at its best when exploring the wasteland, not the urban areas.

I've put a few hours into this an am already overwhelmed by all the stuff. Didn't know I was going to play minecraft going in. That being said it is growing on me.

Except the interface and key-bindings, which are utter trash and restricted by the need to hamfist everything into the pip boy. A proper map and a reasonable way to manage inventory would probably give me 15 minutes of additional gameplay every hour.

I usually always enjoy these kind of things in games, but with the shitty UI they slapped on it it just is more tedious than fun.

go where again tho, hes with me with the quest icon on his head. if I dismiss him to a location (like any other companion), when I talk to him I can just tell him to come with me. meh

The last signal you found was the guy in the bunker to the north. I had Danse with me and when i was done talking to the guy in the bunker he went out of the bunker on his own and waited there for me so i could talk to him about what happened in the whole mission.
Don´t really have any other ideas for you that´s how the mission went for me.

I kind of want to respec my character since I went with the standard builds I often go with in Fallout games (high intelligence/strength, low charisma/endurance, because that was mostly filler in the previous FO games), but then I realized this game doesn't have skills so I'm stuck with this mediocre build (and high intelligence isn't as useful anymore since science is gone and you don't get more skill points if you level up).

But then I think of the terrible bore that the first two hours of the game were for me and I really don't want to do that again.

I still went with a high int build because even though there aren't skill points, there's no level cap and higher int gives more exp so you'll essentially get the skills faster

Does anyone have any tips for dealing with the
Super Mutants at the Revere Satellite Array.
I can't tell if my weapons suck or if I'm just too low level for this

Wow, i so regret going STR 1. Constantly carrying too much loot.

Your dog can carry a ton of stuff.
You can modify armor to have additional pockets to carry more stuff.
You can check vendors for +str gear.
You can use chems to enhance your strength.
You can take the Cha 3 perk to let you carry more stuff.

I run a Str 1 character, and it took me a bit to get used to it.

You can build a bell which calls all settlers to that location (it's in 'specials' I think). Takes a lil bit for everyone to gather but it's very useful.

There is an item you can build which is a bell that you can ring and everyone gathers round in the settlement. No perfect but it is something.

I knew about this already but thanks anyway. I'd still rather have a simple companions/settler listing. There's too much dead air meddling with the building/workshop/crafting side of the game.

I had trouble when I got to this part of the game as well, go do some other quests, get better weapons, I went back there a couple of hours later and laid waste no problem.

Legendaries will appear more often in higher difficulties, enemies get their stats boosted with each difficulty, gear I dont know, it also depends on LUCK.

Thank you!
But is there somewhere I can see the exact difference? Let's say, the percentage chance of finding a legendary enemy or how much stronger or weaker they are.

ah see I didnt have Danse with me then, I got him after going up to the ship. Oh well I rolled back a save before I did the sattelie array part and shit, was only 1 hour or so

Has anyone been using power armor regularly? I haven't used it once outside of that first mission. It's kinda of nice in a way. I'm a really big fan of the new armor system.

So the general consensus is, more F3?

I'm happy with that. Soon as I have more free time I'll pick this up and delve in.

I don't think that's the general consensus at all. Yes it plays like Fallout 3 but with new mechanics, new graphics, new story and entirely new world.

I think I'm being an idiot here, but how do I equip just my fists? I want to
have a boxing match with a Mr Handy.

Anyone else having trouble reading text in the game?
It always seems very blurry to me, making me get a headache?

Hope a mod comes up soon to tweak this.
I guess you're playing on PC in a lower resolution than 1080p. I noticed that too.

Its not so bad at 1600x900. I'd recommend you to try that res if that's the case.

It is totally alright at 1080p though.

FO4 definitely has the FO3 feel about it.

Some people have taken that to mean 'FO4 is just FO3 with some changes', which is not what we're saying at all.

One thing I noticed is that perks this time seems to be much more useful than previous games. It's hard to me to decide wich perk I want to add points every time I level up!

Thank god they did it, cause in F3 and NV the perks were sometimes pretty useless.

Has anyone ran into the glitch for the quest "The Big Dig"?
Quest Spoilers
I got all the way past the mirelurk hunter and can't proceed because Mel is glitched out along with Sonya. I tried reloading a previous save to get him to destroy the last wall but he won't he just stands there. I've tried attacking him but all he does is go agro and I can't stop him at that point. I'm thinking about reloading really early and trying the entire quest again but I don't want to.
Any help is appreciated I'm on ps4 too.

I'd say Fallout 4 is the logical next step from Fallout 3. Some great changes were made and it's a fantastic game.

That being said, it's not perfect. The wonky start is a bit crap - I much preferred the openings to both 3 and New Vegas, but who's going to let the first hour of a massive RPG ruin the 100s that follow?

I've got plenty to do in this game & then I'll be eagerly awaiting the first big mods when the creation kit launches.

The luck tree is fucking crazy. Pumped points into it on a whim and the whole thing is bananas. Gonna get hacking, lockpicking and smithing but other than that crits all day.

My biggest complain about the world is that a lot of explorable buildings (even pre-war ones) are made from the same type of prefabs that you use in your settlement.
Sure, there were a lot of copy-paste buildings in previous games, but they looked unique, here they are made from combinations of these square blocks. It makes them feel "procedurally generated".
And I can't unsee it now :(

you can modify it to use cells :-)

Can I build power armour stations whereever I want?
I like the idea of limited use power armour, but what if I run out of power when I am in enemy territory? Do I just leave my armour there out in the open?

1)how do you power tv;s and bulbs with a generator?
2)can we quit a guild for another and rejoin?
3)is respeccing at all possible?

create the light (or whatever) then hover over it & there's a button prompt to wire it up, select it, then select the generator, or the pylon (depending if you're creating a chain)

for fuck sake I cant finish this quest, even rolling back.

because I have the quest that starts going up to the
brotherhood airship
, Dance just triggers that part, runs off to the roof of the police station and I cant talk to him about the other quest

seriously Bathesda, I love you but fuck man...

I don't understand why all the workstations inventories aren't shared. I know all the workstations within a given settlement have shared inventories, but they should just have a global inventory.

There's too much junk, it becomes tedious to have to constantly move it all between settlements.

isnt there a console command to finish quests? I never use the console, but this is bugged and I finished the quest, the game just wont me hand it in and its driving me nuts

Quick question, is there a point of no return in regards to factions? I'm still pretty early into the game and got named
General
of the Minutemen. Will this interfere with other factions, or will the game just force me to choose between them at a predetermined point?

Sorry if answered but can you build your own house that only your player character can use? Just so I can store my stuff there.

Alternatively is there a safe place to store your items? I was thinking the workshop but won't it automatically scrap stuff as and when needed to build?

I'm only a couple of hours through, but can anyone explain why I'd bother building anything? I don't see the point, and combined with the fact that there's sod all explanation to anything in this game it just feels a little overwhelming.

For lights, TVs whatever you wire up a connector piece that you stick to a nearby wall to simulate in-wall wiring.

Automatic scrapping only happens to junk items, so it won't accidentally destroy a cool gun or anything like that.

oh right yeah, I forgot about that

yeah, you need a connector attached to a wall, floor or ceiling nearby.

it's a pretty good system, though I'd like to see modders take it to the next level of complexity
