I'd rather it become Splatoon Squad, personally. Because I have feeling they're going to pull a 'this is Metroid's last chance' on people closer to release. Don't buy the spinoff leading to no more main games is a thing Japanese publishers seem to do a lot, and Nintendo isn't immune to it, either.

Wtf? What's the logic of having a game being cancelled? Like, they just magically recoup the money they spent and put it toward a proper metroid game? Is that what you're imagining?
Game looks fun as hell, despite not being the metroid game I want. Attach any other nintendo IP to it and no one would be pissed (i'd wager even F-Zero because at least it's SOMETHING with captain falcon). If it has a monster hunter style loot system it'll be an amazing game. It's the tri force heroes of the metroid universe and there's nothing wrong with that.

Along the same lines as me, minus the last two. I don't think we'll see a Zelda amiibo line until Zelda U is coming out. I also think splatoon has enough amiibo, but the game could be updated to use other existing amiibo for clothing.
Mario wave 2 for what? bowser/DK/Wario? What game would it be tied to? Just mario party/tennis?
Eh, Other M already exists. This game has "spinoff" written all over it, so I doubt it'll leave any kind of impression on the series. Unless it's so good and successful that they just make more of these instead of proper Metroids, but I can't see it selling well.
Wario, DK and Rosalina. Toadette perhaps?

All they need to do is include a port of the original Metroid Prime in 3D. I'd buy it just for that.

As a fan of Next Level Games and everything they've created with Nintendo, I strongly disagree. Federation Force may not be the Metroid game I wanted, but that doesn't mean it won't be an interesting title worth playing.

We've had Link Between Worlds and a new Wii U Zelda coming soon so we don't have any lack of the Zelda series.
With Metroid, we haven't had anything since Other M and everybody is butthurt over the direction they took.

Because Zelda has had multiplayer focused games in the past while multiplayer goes against the prevalent feeling of isolation in metroid games. Also no appearance from samus in the game and a chibi artstyle in a game that's always had a more serious art style. Also we get tons of great zelda games but haven't had a good metroid innforever. All that said I'm still playing it.

Yeah I was just as disappointed as everyone else with Federation Force was revealed as the first Metroid game in 5 years, but demanding its cancellation is ridiculous. For all we know the game isn't even coming until later in 2016, so it could look very different by the time it actually comes out.
The existence of Federation Force just gives me more hope that a true Prime game will come alongside it from Retro for the NX launch...maybe. I know so far it seems unlikely since Tanabe and Retro are apparently not working together, and Tanabe is in charge of the Metroid Prime franchise (why Nintendo decided Metroid and Metroid Prime should be headed separately, I'll never know.)
