Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Stealing this realisation from Reddit, but with the naming of the content updates, you have to think they're going to add all the Halo CE REQs in one update. Rocket launcher, CE pistol, Mark V armour...

Was trying to think of what else would be in a Halo CE update beside SPNKr rocket, CE Pistol, and the Mark IV/V armor... Maybe Plasma Rifle? Seems a bit early to add a completely different weapon type though unless it's a reskin of the Storm Rifle.

Also, get ready for the Grifball update someday with Grifball, Grav Hammer, etc. ;)

I hope they start adding some more interesting decals to weapon skins. The blurbs mention marines decorating their weapons, but every weapon looks like its been decorated by the same 343 concept artist, featuring stripes and more coloured stripes.

Only if the pro team approves.
If that's the case then 343i should remove their pro team for making future decisions on any games. Halo was never a success because of pro's or MLG gamers. The lack of gametypes and overall variety will hurt this game in the long run and Forge will only help so much without the gametypes to take advantage of it.

To me actually connecting is easy, but you're still wagering that you're a faster draw for the headshot than your opponent is (or that your shields are high enough that his automatic spray won't kill you faster.)

I'd rather stay at a safer range than try and rapidly close the distance and kill myself in the process. As you say, a slide to melee seems like it would put you out of commission for less time (would be great to see the numbers though.)

Spartan charge has worked wonders for me in Slayer. More kills than deaths by a substantial margin. I have payed the price on many occasions, but until people are used to countering it, it's a fantastic method to get a quick kill without trading for a death shortly after.

I was being slightly facetious, but yes, I am tired of 343 talking about their pro team. The whole esports thing is so contrived with Halo 5.

I need green machine. And light rifles. Yesterday was the first time I saw a light rifle pop up in a Warzone match when I picked it off a dead enemy and even though I had only a few bullets to work with it was a lot of fun and gave my longshot br a run for its money.

other random note, on my second playthrough on legendary I actually enjoyed
the warden fights (except for the one I cheesed, because I was in a hurry to get back to Warzone)
. After Heroic I expected to really hate those parts, but overall I ended up liking the campaign more.

edit: and tundra skins. Damn, can I have an armor set with that? This is why I like REQ packs, the structure is in place to keep adding this kind of stuff.

This is an on-going joke...mainly because of the aiming situation where pro-team was the deciding factor on their change from beta to the halo 5 release.

The pro team isn't the cause of the lack of gametypes. I'd say Warzone was. Thanks casuals ://////

Oh please this. I need my Mark V.

Am I crazy or did this make no sense at all?

And it was a headshot too.

I've had this happen on a number of occasion, the short and long of it is that ping is king and I play wirelessly and with the 3.5mm controller so I'm just running around with arrows in the knee.

Spartan charge is honestly kinda useles of an ability imo. I wouldn't be surprised if a slide to melee is more effective

I find I end up using it more for its mobility function than as an offensive maneuver, same thing with groundpound. Half the time I've tried to use it on someone I completely whiffed and flew by them, but then again I'm terrible.

Arena was the pro teams focus though, the oversight of specific gametypes and options that were available since the original trilogy is borderline heresy imo.

Agreed. While I agree Halo 5 has much better gameplay than Halo 4 I am not liking this constant focus on pro 1337 MLG type gaming. I always disliked the sub-culture of MLG wannabes in the Halo 2 or 3 days whom always said, you are garbage if you used anything else but the BR or Sniper Rifle.

He didn't say 3.5mm controllers specifically but that would explain why I'm not having problems with my original controllers.

Based off the reporting from other users in the thread, the issue seems to be related to the 3.5mm and when I first had played the game just moments into my session I noticed that the aiming felt weird, sure my own subjective experience but it lines up with what others have said.

Focus? Did you miss warzone?

Those helmets... Ugh. I also find it slightly ironic that they're releasing a new visor color but keep releasing helmets with no discernible visor.

Put this joke to rest, the Pro team is not making decisions of that magnitude, give me a break. These are guys with no game dev experience and you think 343 just hands them the keys?

So wait, are the new controllers with the 3.5mm connection the ones having the problems with aiming? I just bought the new master chief limitied edition one, my other x1 controllers is the first gen

As badly as I want the Mark V, i'm not a fan of 343's slightly revised look of the V.

It just looks... off

Yeah, but it looks better than 80% of the armor currently in game right now. Even in Halo 4. I'll take it.

Everything else about the update has me psyched, though.

Taking a statement and then extrapolating to extreme levels. Obviously I never said such a thing. Pro team had a lot of input on Halo 5.

True. I'm just not a fan of most of the exclusively-343 designed armors. They're generally too busy.

Weird, you just said the only way other gametypes get in is if pro team approves. Joking of course, but you pretty much say that line every time someone asks a similar question, it's not even funny.

Here's the official word: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/november-sneak-peek
Unfortunately, some players have identified an issue that occurs due to variance in controller hardware, commonly referred to as “slow turn” bug. This can cause players to become unable to, or inconsistently reach what we call a “pegged” state.

The “pegged” state is a region in the outermost range of the analog aim stick in which we blend the players turn speed to a much faster rate. This issue is compounded as the control input fluctuates depending on multiple factors - if you are applying even the slightest bit of downward pressure (clenching), moving the stick around the edges a bit (which is why it’s even more problematic when aiming diagonally), or torqueing the stick on the edge a bit more than normal on some controllers.

The good news is we have a fix for this issue that introduces no perceivable change to the current feel of the game. This change is going through test and pro team validation now and we will have it out to you soon.

One thing that has become clear in absorbing all your feedback is that Halo players want choice when it comes to controls. And with that in mind, we are also working on another little pet project that will allow even more precise tuning. This update will offer more custom fine-tuned control over controller settings (hint: independent vertical/horizontal sensitivities, the ability to calibrate your own dead zones, more granularity in sensitivity, and more). We hope to have that out for you in December and we will follow up with more details later.

"Funny" is a subjective term. When 343 announced the changes coming, they mentioned running it by the pro team (someone just posted it earlier). Hopefully, they will stop talking about their "pro team" and go back to making Halo a fun game for all kinds of people.

You have the right to your opinion and have the right to mine. I am sure we both own every single Halo game released.

So with the new REQs, will they be weighted higher? Will we be able to buy packs that only contain the new REQs? I think it really defeats the purpose of adding new REQs if they just dump them into the pile of 1,000+ potential items you could receive.

Clarification on this would be great.

(agree with others, themed content updates sound awesome. I like what they have started here.)

If I was a betting man, I'd bet they get lumped in all together. The reason I think this is because if they wanted people to pick and choose what they wanted they'd have done it already. It promotes continued play and revenue to keep it random.

Maybe they will be weighed more heavily? I just think it's a bit disingenuous to advertise all of this cool stuff coming in an update when the chances of you unlocking the Legendary or Ultra Rare stuff is already so low.
