I think ignoring weapon mods for so long is starting to catch up with me. I might as well be throwing gravel at some of these super mutants

Has anyone ran into the glitch for the quest "The Big Dig"?
Quest Spoilers
I got all the way past the mirelurk hunter and can't proceed because Mel is glitched out along with Sonya. I tried reloading a previous save to get him to destroy the last wall but he won't he just stands there. I've tried attacking him but all he does is go agro and I can't stop him at that point. I'm thinking about reloading really early and trying the entire quest again but I don't want to.
Any help is appreciated I'm on ps4 too.
Quoting for help still haven't figured it out yet? Should I just say fuck it?

As someone who dove headfirst into mods from the beginning, it's practically a must. There's more than enough scrap to give your top 5 or 6 guns a badass high-damage makeover.

So are the other companions better than dawg? I have been using dogmeat exclusively but I can try minuteman guy

I had to get rid of Dogmeat as soon as I got someone else, I couldn't bear his sad whimpering when he got hurt :( the fact it happens almost immediately when a fight starts was even more annoying

Has anyone found anything better than the vault suit that lets you use layered armor? I was super excited to find a hazmat suit until it takes all your armor off when equipped.

Should be under Misc buildings or containers, if I remember right.

nope, not appearing in either of those places for me. misc structure just has two spiked poles, and it's not in misc containers either, even after storing the sanctuary doghouse. i must be doing something wrong? or maybe my game is bugged? it's weird that storing it doesn't actually transfer it the workshop. it just disappears.

EDIT: nvm found it. it's in decorations > misc. which makes absolutely no sense but whatever lol

omg............this entire fucking time I was pumping points into the base attributes thinking they needed to be maxed out in order to unlock the next tier for that ability.

So intelligence needed to be maxed out before moving onto the next level and it would light up

Nope the only reason they are grey is because they are not bought....but the base number represents what level you can go to!

Fuck me........is there a way to respec or do I have to start over? I mean its only 7 levels and two days thankfully.....but son of a bitch did I waste all those points.

Oh boy, hope you didn't level too far up. If you put points into your chosen SPECIAL, ie if you wanted the rank 10 perk for INT for example, I guess that's fine for long term planning.

Traded in the game today for credit towards xenoblade x. It was just boring walking around the wastelands, and the story didn't grab me to do anything. Disappointing but it is what it is

And after spending so long teaching myself not to take every piece of trash I find in a Bethesda game. Time to start looting duct tape and spoons I guess

My last guess is Misc decorations. Or perhaps I found a magazine for it.

There are magazines scattered throughout the world that unlock new building materials.

I did this too, :lol.

Do pistol perks count towards laser pistols as well, or just ones that use bullets?

That would be Gunslinger perk. Regardless of weapon damage type. So a Laser Rifle would increase from the Rifleman perk for example.

Gunslinger - Anything One handed & Non-Automatic
Rifleman - Anything 2 Handed & Non-Automatic
Commando - Anything 2 Handed & Automatic

I think that covers most things.

Really wish you could respec. I would lower intelligence and charisma a little and put those extra points into Strength. Turns out Gun Nut is pretty useless if you're not skilled in Science--you find much better shit lockpicking and looting than you can make using low level mods. Also Melee is more useful than ever for ammo conservation now that weapons don't degrade, not to mention pretty powerful out of the gate. The machete has already proven invaluable against ghouls, insects, and the like.

I know there's no cap, but I'm fighting against my OCD wanting to restart. Only lvl 11 , but does leveling slow down considerably at any point? I'm guessing it would be quicker to just grind those extra 4-5 levels to raise my STR?

This Silver Shroud quest is great.

A costume has more armor rating (42) than a bunch of steel armor lol

I loved this quest, but isn't the 42 armor rating cumulative i.e. it's not as good as having a set of individual 17-18 pieces (which is about what I was at when doing this)?

Also, is there any perk to upgrade this outfit. I can't seem to. Also military fatigues I have the same question.

Used military fatigues for a bit but the vault suit has radiation defense so I switched back.

Are they afraid people with a lot of bottle caps would just max out terminal/lockpicking, unlock everything, go back and re-spec with no terminal/lockpick skills?

thanks!! yep found it right after i posted, its misc decorations. such a weird category to file it under

Why is there a delay after you load a save? You can't move for like a second after loading which screws you over if you saved during combat

^

I'm actaully asking, this happens to everyone right?
Also, do you sometimes have your gun model disappear and reappear after switching it? today I had my Pip-Boy disappear as well, but reloading solved it

SPOILER AHEAD (regarding armor)

If you keep doing the Silver Shroud quests from the radio he calls you to return to him and he will give you an upgraded outfit

SPOILER AHEAD (for modding outfits)
Railroad quest line there is a reward to allow you to mod outfits and make them better. Just when you keep doing missions keep trading with tinker tom and you'll see armored versions of clothing

Cool, I figured the quest line was over once I
went to the hospital and killed Sinjin (took me like an hour to find the bastard).

Haven't gotten to the second quest line yet.

Idk. Bethesda has always been pretty lax about exploits people discover in their games.

I'm like 15-20 hours in and not even bothering to touch settlements right now. Game does barely anything to explain how they work or why I should even bother, and since I went with no Charisma I'm nowhere near being able to get the Local Leader perk which I need for a lot of it. It's super annoying, and like 50%+ of Fallout 4 discussion I see online is revolving around the settlement stuff and how the fuck it works. They really dropped the ball badly on this aspect of the game.

All that aside my main issue right now is at level 12 I don't have any of the gun/armor mod perks and I'm starting to get to the point where some enemies are getting difficult. I'll start putting points into them now but leveling has definitely slowed down for me.

well got dogmeat and nick back via the console. now need someone to figure out how to complete quests via the console too so I can "hand in" this quest :/

I don't know if you were able to resolve this, but there actually are console commands that may help.

I ran into a bug in the "Call to Arms" quest:
I made it to the top control room at ArcJet Systems where I was supposed to retrieve a deep range scanner. I scoured the control room and could not find it anywhere. I found this reddit post that helped me clear it. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3s9oj8/need_an_id_for_a_deep_range_transmitter/

I tried using the console to add the item to my inventory, but that still didn't clear that quest flag. Following the steps in the linked article allowed me to advance. http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-...Get-Past-Broken-Quests-on-the-PC-242822.shtml

Make sure you do a hard save before you mess with the console commands. It worked for me, but YMMV.

Gotta make Dogmeat fly. Even though I don't use companions, he needs to be looking fresh in the Commonwealth.
