The fact that junk doesn't pool across all settlements is such an arbitrary limitation. I should not have to fast travel back and forth between.places just to get the resources I need, especially with my weight limit.

Should I follow the Fallout 3 idea of not putting any stats at 10 due to Bobbleheads? Shoudl I worry too much about the initial stats?

Stupid question, but what's the best or only way to get around/through a chained door in a house?

As far as I know chained doors can only be opened from the other side. Which means... you need to find an alternate way into the house/building. So far I've only encountered two chained doors, and both were opened from the other side. There was always another path to get to them, but sometimes these paths are hard to find.

So clearing out the Federal Ration Reserve was as lucrative as expected. Got a sweet combat rifle, fat man, 2 unique guns from legendary raiders and a bunch of ammo.

It does, but you need to establish a trade route.

What do you mean? Where would this number appear?

It appears down the bottom in your pipboy (IIRC it says 'Level up (1)' ) At that point, you put that 1 point into your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. or in a perk if you have met the requirements

It sounds like to me, you have put your point/s into special, leaving no points left to put in perks. You have to make a choice between the 2 each time you level (ie you dont automatically get given a perk to choose each time you put a point in special)

You need the leader perk to be able to do that.

Hey guys I have a small question. I'm enjoying the game a lot, but my one frustration atm is managing new weapons and gear I pickup. This game in my opinion really needs a system when you can compare stats of guns easily, for example if I highlight a weapon in my inventory it will then highlight any other I scroll over, showing a stats comparison. I'm kinda only starting out in the game and all these weapons that have minor differences/stats is sort of stressing my out organizing.

I know you can sort by value, dmg etc but it's still awkward without a side by side comparison/chart. What do you think? do you manage fine with it or would you prefer something improved in this area?

Yeah, it's been pivotal to my conversational success. In fact, it's... all that matters in that regard.

I have a leg armor piece that gives 1 charisma, glasses give 1, hat gives 1, and I have a set of shorts that can be worn with the legpiece that give 2 charisma. that adds 5. I can then drink a beer and get 1 more.

In other words, I can easily get my 4 base charisma to 9 if I need to pass a charisma check, and if I REALLY need to, I can drink a beer and get it to 10.

The challenge is in micromanaging all of this gear. I generally change my gear to charisma any time I think I'm going to be talking to anyone soon, so if I enter a town or see some npcs. It gets pretty tedious...

No because bobbleheads don't give you a specific SPECIAL point, instead they enhance a specific perk or stat under the SPECIALS (fusion cores last longer, stimpacks heal more, etc)

The current system uses + and - next to the weapons/armor values to determine if it's better or worse than what you are currently using (equipped). Each value can have up to 3 +++ or - - - indicating a larger upgrade/downgrade. It's not a great system but I am managing to get by on that alone.

Thats not true I found one that increased my Luck (i think) and one that had a perk associated with it.

Wait, so your SPECIAL levels are locked for good after starting the game? No way to increase them?

Aside from bobblehead you can increase them at any level by using a perk point

lol the game can't handle you changing your appearance right before you leave the vault on PS4. Wanted to make a quick change, but the menu to change appearance in there runs at like 15 fps or less, and crashes within a few seconds. Had a save right near the exit that I used to reroll my character since you can change stats and appearance there, guess I might be screwed changing my look unless I completely restart the game.

I don't know why people need to keep spreading misinformation

YES there are bobbleheads that give a special point.
just because you havent found one, doesn't mean there aren't any

So for crafting we should just ONE workbench right? Like always use sanctuary so all my "screws" and things will be there.

I read something about if you have the leader perk you can send a settler to another settlement. Which then links the settlements and the workbenches.

This is incorrect. There are two types of bobbleheads. Ones that increase a base stat by 1 point, and ones that give you unique bonuses such as longer lasting fusion cores, etc.

If you have a stat at 10 and find the bobblehead that raises it...that stat actually goes to 11.

So if you're a min/maxer you might want to not use the stat bobbleheads until you've raised all your SPECIAL to 10. :)

Wait, so your SPECIAL levels are locked for good after starting the game? No way to increase them?

There's a bobblehead for each stat and a You're SPECIAL book that will raise any stat by one. Also when you level up, you're free to put a point into any stat you wish instead of a perk.

I blew an arm off a ghoul and he fell off a building, still alive. His severed arm was able to be pickpocketed and then I beat it until he died. Best glitch ever!

Yeah. Until you have local leader and can make one person be the one that maintains trade routes it isn't worth it. I don't know how they expect me to build anything in Home Plate (Diamond town) if it's not considered a base. That means I'll have to bring it its own separate set of materials which is a pain. What a stupid implementation of housing.

I'm amazed by how much ammo and weapons I am picking up in first hours of the game. And I am not talking about paltry ones either. I actually find myself wishing a patch would bring it down quite a bit. I'm overwhelmed with stuff to a level that should only occur by the late game and by clever tactics to break the game. It is silly just how unbalanced it feels.

So when do mods start coming to Xbox One? I know that PS4 is "next year," sometime, but heard PC & Xbox One will be this year. SOrry, I'm sure this has been asked a billion times but I couldn't find the answer online or in thread w/ search. Mostly got PC mod discussion.

So, what is up with
Brother Simon at the charles view amphitheater? Has anyone given up all their items? What happens? I did it, but reverted my quicksave because he wouldn't give my stuff back.
...I should've shot him.

Ok I will bare this in mind, I wasn't exactly sure about the plus system/what it was for, so ty for explaining. I also was just looking on this reddit page and found this point useful to know, so I'm sharing here.

"When naming weapons, put a hyphen or space at the beginning of the name (EX: -gun name), and those weapons will default to the top of the list in your pip-boy.(Thanks: CromeDaBeast)"

Interesting. I scavenge a bunch and while I have a bunch of weapons, I run out of ammo quick. I have 2 points in the ammo scavenging perk, too.

I had a crazy amount of ammo early on but now I'm finding them hard to come by. The .308 ammo anyway.

Enemies become quite the sponge later on.
