Seeing all of these posts of awesome settlements make me want to jump in ASAP and continue building. They are just so time and resource consuming it's hard to really invest early game.

That the old back out trick?
Was glad it was still in.

Nope cause the passwords change if you back out. You enter in all the words, then press Process Solutions. It will give you a % of the highest chance at the password. If it's not the top choice, you type the word you selected, then how many letters are correct.

Really digging this version of Fallout...although building settlements is an unbelievable time sink.

Quick tip for power: choose a power component, hit triangle (PS4) for wires, extend wire to next component, then hit triangle again.

i fixed the elevator!
Whoever reccommended fast fravel much thanks.
I have a theory as well.
It seems the game has 2 different elevator ride sequences.
One involving crappy elevator muzak and one with no muzak but a strong sense of movement such as a shaky view accompanied by vibration.
Every elevator seems to hse one of these and its predetermined.
Now that it worked it was the non muzak variant while all the bugged rides featured muzak.
It simply seems that the games was loading the incorrect elevator sequence and getting stuck due to it.
Anyone else who encounters it try the fast travel if reloading fails.

Fast travel from the elevator?

Can someone enlighten me on the difference between hard and normal. Is it a big bump in difficulty? Do the enemies become bullet sponges or is it just more legendary enemies appearing?

Game was running fine for me on PS4 till I got to the first large interior on a quest for the minutemen and holy shit that framerate is garbage. I don't even know why, it's not as if it even looked very nice graphically.

between settlement building and the sheer amount of shit there is to see and do in this game...

it's not the greatest game I've ever played, but it's one of the most consistently engaging and fun experiences I've ever had with a game, and it'll probably be my most played single player game ever before the end of this year even hits.

This game man

It's damn fun. Like really damn fun.

It's gonna be a toss up between this and W3 for my GOTY. 2015 was a hell of a year for videogames.

Hehe, yeah, I knew it! I didn't have the same bug but fast travel seems to fix the problems with vault

So, JoeBoy's Pro & Con for today:

Pro - Settlement Building

First off, its completely optional so people can ignore it. Always a plus. But should you decide to use it...

And what makes it even more brilliant than simple construction is how all the junk and vendor fodder suddenly has maddening purpose (more adhesive anyone?). People's time is being annihilated by this feature of the game, and they haven't even gotten going on the main quest.

And this lightly touching the management side of assigning tasks to settlers, growing crops, working power networks, etc. I doubt this feature could translate well to Elder Scrolls, with the exception of building a player's home piece-by-piece. Which they BETTER do. The settlement feature suits the world of Fallout perfectly and I hope they expand on it more.

Con - UI

3-4 years of SkyUI and this is the best Bethesda can do? Granted, now you get some sorting options, but it is still clunky, obtrusive, unresponsive, and difficult to get to the items you want to use. Same goes for other gameplay mechanics too like trading, but a bad one in particular is for that settlement building. No clipping allowed at all, no way to manage settlers' assignments well, a map that is too small and can't take custom waypoints. Its just a mess as it is. Some of it is the artificial PipBoy requirements they put on themselves, but Bethesda really needs to start making some strides in improving the interface.

Wow! Can you build all that without the PC unlimited build mod?

I have collected much better armor, but I still run around in that same coat and hat. Gotta look good in the wasteland.

Same.
I have better shit...but that outfit.
With the 2 additional items i reccomended.
Outstanding.
Throw in your best SMG for the godfathery feels.

I wish I knew how to upload pS4 screenshots here =(.
Unless some wants to do it for me via psn message.
The fashion in these games man.

Considering how bad this game runs on PC I couldn't even give this game a 7 at that moment. Too buggy and unoptimized to have a great experience playing it.

It doesn't run as well as it should and you really have to brute force it to get it at acceptable levels. I have GSync and that seems to mitigate the framerate issues, but it shouldn't come down to that at all and it does.

Do you ever need to have more than one power suit? I took the one you get very early on back to Sanctuary and parked it and haven't messed with it since. I know you can upgrade/replace the individual armor pieces, but do you need more than one suit unless you want to have multiple sets or anything? Like can it be destroyed or anything? Not real clear on how it works.

Going up Trinity Tower, performance turned to shit pretty quick. Looking forward to patches, which are desperately needed with the inconsistent my fps has been. Drops as low as maybe 12 or maybe even lower, yet hits 60 majority of the time. Need them patches, Beth.

Anyone notice how weird it is in VATS when it comes to super mutants? I stand point-blank yet only get at most 56% chance at a hit?

These new ghouls are just the worst. They are Gandhi levels of aggressive and always in packs. So far the worse has been inside the
national guard buildings
. Limited space, and oh yeah, there is a glowing one too.
Even in power armor
that place has been ass

Ten hours into it. This game is pretty good! But for anyone who has beaten or nearly beaten the game
does the weapon modding, crafting, and "workshop" areas or whatever stay compelling throughout the game? Or do you hit a dead end at some point?

I got screwed by a legendary radscorpion. I used 20 stimpacks and so much ammo to bring that fucker and his friends down, and he somehow died underground and I can't loot him fml

I didn't really want to spend the time collecting resources for building and then I see that there's a mod for instant 1000 resources that you can just use over and over. Now I'm gonna make some cool ass forts. Soon, my console brothers and sisters you'll get to partake in the glory of mods. I'm happy they are gonna let that happen. It(mods) can add so much value and longevity to a game.

Woah I just Skyrim'd a raider. VATS'd him with my sniper rifle, 2 shots in the head and when he died he shot up a mile into the air for NO reason other than lolphysicslol. He shot up so far he hit atmo and about 10 seconds later he plopped back down directly where he used to be standing. I love Bethesda games so much.
