Can't wait to start finding legendary gear. Only got one pipe pistol from seemingly accidentally killing a legendary radroach, and seen a legendary sword in a vendors inventory. Hope I'm not too badly deprived of the stuff because I'm playing on normal

Is there anything to prevent you from playing on survival, and bumping it all the way down when you have an encounter with a legendary enemy?

I've gotten a fuck ton of legendary stuff from legendary enemies over the past 20 hours, playing on normal.

Question re: Brotherhood of Steel intro:

After clearing the mission alongside Danse he gave he his rifle but he also said I'd get my own power armor. Where is it? Or is it later? I mean I have my own from the intro anyway but I imagine the Brotherhood's is better.

You get the
BoS power
armor once you get into the
flying fortress
of theirs

So noob question time. Ive just been storing junk in my workshop. Does it get broken down if I need the parts automatically? Do I need to remove the junk, drop it on the ground and scrap it?

did you join the brotherhood after the mission?
I said 'Maybe'. Are there any disadvantages to joining? it sounded like I'd be turning my back on the minutemen if I did.

Can we talk about Kendall Hospital for a second?
You reach the bottom floor and you're trapped in that tiny area with a giant deathclaw that just bursts out. Biggest moment of regret from exploring I've ever experienced.

sooo much yes.
I had piper sacrifice herself, the ran to hit the buttons, and hid in the hallway he couldn't get in, and then shot him with my pistol till he fell!

They give a missile launcher in one of the room above. I just stood on the generator in the middle of the room and missiled-his ass while dogmeat distracted it.

Oh, man! So I am about 10 hours in and a level 14. Back around hour 5-6 I had wandered to Vault
88.
Did a once over on the place and really nothing special so I left. Did a couple side missions and went back a couple hours ago because I had found
the cat for the missing girl.
Anywho, went to the
woman working in the kitchen area
and decided to barter with her. I go to her weapons and she has this
Overseer auto rifle
and it does 3 times the damage any of mine did! She wanted
3,900 caps
for it and I only had
4,258
. Sat there for a solid 20 minnutes trying to decide if I should spend everything I had worked the last 10 hours for. Finally decided to buy it and holy crap the thing is a monster! I'm taking out
mole rats, ghouls and raiders
with like a quick 1 second burst.

It's one of those Fallout moments where you go YES! I am now a bad ass!

Shout out to the peeps who posted all of that useful information about crafting, cooking, and salvaging. I didn't think the carcasses of dead animals nor dirty water would be useful, but man, the stuff you can cook up elimates the radiation from the meat, which then heals you w/o rad poisoning and gives incredibly useful bonus and temporary perks that can last up to two hours.

Grab everything, people! And get that perk where you can salvage crafting parts from weapons and armor as soon as you can. You'll always then have a healthy supply of uncommon parts to use when upgrading weapons and armor.

I've spent fifteen minutes looking for Dogmeat at Sanctuary to no avail.

Eff this.

He goes to any of the dog houses in that area, all are behind houses (I think there is 3 locations). What i did was to scrap everything in that area and set a dog house near the main workbench. That is where he goes for me now since its the only dog house for him.

Noob question, but whenever I select a gun in the pip boy I see an ammo type with large number in parenthesis next to it. Sometimes that's my ammo, other times it's a much larger number. Do I have to "open" ammo or something? For instance I have one gun that shows 500+ in parenthesis but has no ammo when I equip it.

Now that i ditched my companion i'm enjoyng the game a lot more. I've always been a lone wanderer in previous games. Hate having companions. They break my immersion.

Thankfully i had two bottlecap lunchbox mines and ran the deatchclaw in a circle, such quick thinking i was quite proud XD but such a cool encounter and a 'oh god im fucked' moment

So uhhhh

Do I just leave my Power Armor at the red rocket?

I dont want to lose it, but you cant store it in your inventory...

So far I'm loving this game! There's just so much to explore and do, it's crazy. 10 hours in and I haven't even gone to Diamond City yet.

Also, while wandering though Lexington, I found
an elevator behind a bookcase in the basement of a diner
. I was wondering if anyone figured out how to get it to work, cause I couldn't figure it out.

I generally just transfer the Fusion Core out of my Power Armor so it has no fuel and so far nobody's ever run off with it.

Snuck into a gun store and stole a gas mask, the owner obviously saw it and came to take it back, as the owner was returning to his position i stole a Gauss Rifle unnoticed, lol.

I don't think i was supposed to get the gun this early in the game though, don't think there's any way to get any ammo for it at this point, not even the store owner sells it :(

Feeling so OP right now, having an easy time mowing everything down with my recently gotten Assault Rifle and fully upgraded Combat Shotgun in close quarters.

Nice. Where and what gun store was that?

Or, does anyone. Else know to find one?

Enjoying this, but one thing that I find frustrating is the whole settlement building aspect.

I have found it very aggravating and frustrating to clear out a settlement, get instructed to build something, only to discover I don't have the obscure scrap item needed to build the necessary items and have to go and hunt down items for that scrap when you can't obtain it in the area you cleared.

So much time has been wasted just in that aspect.

Any tips on how this can be avoided? I pretty much save and keep everything I see, but I always seem to lack the items needed to get things go.

I really need to find a place where I can farm items.

Its really the only truly negative thing I can think of.

Where can I get more energy cell ammo?
Ran out after I finished the quest with the Paladin and he gave me a gun which has been pretty useful, but now I'm out of ammo

WTF...

This game is really fun to play on Survival Difficulty, provided you don't think of it as a shooting game but rather some kind of bullet based geometry puzzle. The vast majority of firefights devolve into messing with enemy AI, pathing, and shooting between geometry fixtures since enemies kill you insanely quickly. It forces you to emphasize long range engagements, harassment, or the ever-popular corner peekabo with a shotgun.

I remember beating an outpost with a Fat Man Power Armor raider by baiting everyone into the woods where I could engage them one on one. There was also a Legendary Mireluk I killed by constantly kiting it up and down a cliff it could not path around. It's not really anything like shooting games but the combat is a whole lot more interesting than anything else Bethesda's done.

Though now I have enough super-weapons to disintegrate most enemies pretty quickly. At least they still shred you, so it's somewhat balanced.

Really nitpicky question: one of my settlements has dead feral ghoul bodies all over the place and it's weirding me out that my people are sleeping two feet away from corpses. Is there any way I can get rid of the bodies? Do I have to assign someone to corpse janitorial duty or something?

Need some help with the quest " Reveille".

I have as my current objective "Investigate the Brotherhood of Steel airship". I went to the location and see the ship in the air, but have no idea what to do. Any tips?

Hey guys I got to the fire support side quest and the military frequency isn't working. Has anyone experienced that and knows how to fix it?

So I've played Fallout 3, it's DLC, and Fallout New Vegas and it's DLC and am now 15 hours into Fallout 4 and I just now realized that you can get rid of Dud answers when hacking terminals. Apparently you could do that in all the games.

I feel like my entire life has been a lie up to this point.

Almost every side quest being 'go here and kill everyone' is really grinding me down. Theres a few decent ones too but you dont know what its gonna be until you start it

Just had a legendary raider with a fat man blocking my only way out of a building in a cramp hallway.. Luckily Valentine was holding one for me else I would have been stuck on that for a while.

I could be wrong but you have to be in range of the signal. I just did that mission and of I went too far it would say I was put of range of the channel.

The classical music station is ACE.
It feels like the only way to play, especially since the oldies station is just 3 repeats. It makes battles seem really graceful.

I had a raider that wasn't legendary with a fat man shooting at me from a hallway/bridge over the road. I finally killed his friend from hiding and got him wondering where I was and the fool started shooting without seeing me and wasted his two mini nukes, then I came for him.

Realizing that loot doesn't transfer between settlement is a game changer for me. I migrated everything to Sanctuary and for crafting. I'm focusing on INT, so crafting is going to be pretty important to me. Last night I was dying constantly because of my terrible guns that I didn't have he parts to modify (or so I thought).

Now I'm a force to be reckoned with, and I keep stumbling on even better loot. Super mutants are dropping like flies.

I feel like I'm not exploring as much as I did in games like Skyrim. I'm going after quests, and those quests keep drawing me to the same areas. I want to go off the beaten path, but I'm having a hard time actually doing it for some reason.

Anyway to cure radiation if I'm out of radaway?
Find a doctor, they'll cure it.
