Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Anyone else get melee or weapon switch issues. like they are slow to register or dont register at all?

Yes. Intermittently it won't switch and I have to jam the y button purposefully to get it to work. All of the MCC Halo's have instant switching and no delay between the weapon switch and scoping. The no weapon switch bug seems to happen more frequently whilst in scope. The scope delay issue was very noticeable in the beta (particularly with the sniper) and I thought it would be fixed for the retail release. Really needs to be looked at.

Man Warzone is THE way to rank up.

Used a Rare XP boost, and finished 3 Commendations (3,500 XP for all 3) and still only for 6,748 XP. :P A usually victory in Warzone gives me 6k, heh.

God I hate the low range motion tracker. Just lost a match because the other team were crouch camping and skulking around corners waiting to ambush us. The motion tracker needs to be upped to 25 meters, there is no valid argument against it imo.

Definitely been playing and enjoying WZ more. I was mainly Arena when I first started, around 150 games in that. However, I've been playing WZ a lot more now, over 30 games, and it's just more enjoyable for me. More xp, req points, and JiP so I don't have to worry about quitters. Plus all the cool weapons and toys you get to play around with. Sure it can be chaotic and unbalanced, but it's fun. Too much Arena just gets frustrating.

Is it me or is the Plasma Caster the most useless "power" weapon in in the history of Halo?

I love it. Usually get 2+ kills guaranteed with it everytime. So many people avoid it. But a fully charged shot at a crowd gives so much splash damage as well.

Sure it's no grenade launcher, plasma launcher, sticky detonator, but it's a good weapon if you can use it well.

Yeah, the charge up is great with shelling an area with splash.
I end up using it as a frag+ with the added benefit of sticking to friendlies.

FYI this is in reference to Exwife's game being super borked, like... for real. His game is showing all vehicle as driving sideways.

The last day I played all vehicles in pvp were upside down, and everyone's gun was pointing to the sky, no gun model in my hand either.

I gave up until the patch comes next week tbh.

Um, if you buff the range people will crouch and camp even more because that's how the radar works.

Nobody toggle crouches when there is no radar.

mate you lost cos you got out skilled.

Valid argument for motion tracker? It becomes a game less about situational awareness, communication and teamwork and more about staring at your radar?

I also wished the radar was a little bit longer ... 18m feels so weird. 24 like in warzone would be better IMO.

And saying you have to rely more on awareness and communication,... I kinda get it, but not everybody can communicate in Arena and use the Radar, cause the radar actually requires skill/awareness to watch while playing the game. i see many people saying the Radar is for 'newbs', but I really doubt those people even use the radar at all.

I dunno, I'm performing fine even with the reduced Radar, bit I still wished it was larger, it would have saved me from a lot of frustrating deaths (EG: standing close with your back to the wall, but still being snuck up and having no time to react because as soon as you see the red blip, you are dead. The current arena radar is only useful for seeing enemies abobe/below you it feels like)

If they were crouch camping, the radar wouldn't do you any good at any range... In fact, increasing the range would just make people crouch camp more.

With no radar, people wouldn't crouch camp at all.

The radar doesn't require any skill to use what so ever...

In fact, the people that sneak up and kill you are abusing your reliance on the radar.

The low radar range might be the best decision 343 made for H5, and there are quite a lot of good changes coming from the beta. It better stay the way it is.

That's where I personally disagree. Not saying it requires a huge amount of skill, but it does require some. I have been playing Halo for over a decade with the same two friends and they don't use the radar at all (they, like a good amount of players, lack the eye coordination to play and keep an eye on the radar at the same time), even though they are good players. if they used it, they would perform a lot better. keeping a half eye on the radar prevents a decent amount of deaths and makes you more aware of enemy presence.

The radar is a tool, and you should use it, but you can't rely on it. That's true. If you solely rely on your radar you will indeed get killed by people abusing that fact. I just think they kinda sabotaged the tool this time around in arena. Like giving you a hammer with only the staff, but not the head.

Ooh well, good thing I have a good headset and can often hear people even before they come into radar range :p

EDIT:

With no radar, people wouldn't crouch camp at all.

How so? People that crouch camp do this to catch their opponents unaware and gain an advantage. Why would they suddenly stop doing this when there is no radar at all?
I mean, nothing changes for the campers? they remain undetected, radar or no radar.

I dont understand the first 10 games lvl'ing system.

In FFA, I came 1st place 3 times. I got Onyx.
Swat, I own the majority, got Onyx.

Should i not just win ALL 10 games to get to onyx?

Pistol definitely needs to be nerfed. I can easily say that I am not the most skilled player, but going into a game and immediately being killed by the other team with pistols is very annoying. Switching the BR to be the primary weapon instead of the AR would be a better way to combat the overpowered magnum.

Making everyone have a spam gun to start makes gunfights, uninteresting. I see what 343 was trying to do and I love Halo 5 overall, but the pistol needs a 6 shot headshot kill, because it destroys everyone. You can cry how I'm bad, you can make as many excuses as possible, 343 nerfed the DMR in Halo 4, they'll do the same here.

...who are these people?

Depends, how did you place in the other 7 matches?

And the way this system seems to work: every match it looks at how you performed and increases/decreases the level of your opponents. I got matched against gold in my first two games. Games 3-7 I got increasingly stronger opponents (Plat -> diamond -> Onyx) because I kept performing. In my last games I matched against high ranking Onyx (1800+CSR) and started underperforming, so every game the Onyx ranking seemed to go down a little, till after my tenth game, and I got placed in Onyx myself :)

TL;DR: game starts with medium opponents, increases difficulty of said opponents until you level out.

When I am on the receiving end, I hate the radar.

But overall, I love it. I think having such a short range makes it only useful in certain situations, which is great. It is not OP and doesn't tell you where everyone is, which is what I like.

I also like that your team mates names change colour when they are being attacked and/or their r Shields are down. Helps with those who do not communicate, you can at least find where the enemies are.

I would be unhappy if they removed radar because I play alone a lot and most of the time no one has a mic so that little bit of extra information can be really helpful. The range is good right now.

I do agree that the most competitively sound setup would have no radar and I'm not about to argue that radar takes skill but for me no radar game types are only fun and not frustrating when you have a team that communicates.

Also radar is necessary for FFA imo.

You keep Spartan chatter turned on, right? That right there gives more information about enemy location and status then 50% of randomly put together groups of people with mics. If you don't use it i'd really recommend it. Solid intel that really negates the map almost entirely.

Someone photoshop Chief onto Homer above, and put Halo 5 on the sides. They shouldn't listen to fans at all.

Damn just got caught up in the NPD thread. Looks like MCC and general Halo apathy did catch up to Halo 5. Those are horrendous numbers if true.

Yeah I do and I really like it. Still no substitute for detailed callouts but it is very helpful to know the last location of an enemy. Doesn't tell you how many or where they are going though and I actually wish I had the option to increase the frequency of Spartan chatter

Edit: I play with mic all the time and tend to call out like crazy, wanting my teammates to have as much information as possible. Even when no one else is talking. Get a lot of assists this way.
