At Level 12, I STILL haven't had a legendary drop :-(, only ever seen one legendary enemy and he killed me and wasn't there when I returned.

It's like Destiny all over again, is there a loot cave anywhere?

Why is it that even though I have a CHA of 6 I keep failing dialogue options?

I even had a an NPC offer to sale me a dog then change his mind after I tried to tell him I would care for the dog because I failed the dialogue chance.

WTH?

BTW what happens if you get the dog?

So who is the best companion in the game? I currently have:

Dogmeat
Piper
Preston
Supermutant guy
Curie (she has the best dialogue, I think)
Valentine

Yes, very disappointing. Good thing the ambient music is better than FO3.

You have also unlocked
Codsworth. I am using him but I only have Preston and Codsworth right now.

No, and they seemed to have reused a lot of assets in general. I miss the radio mod though from NV. It had an amazing assortment of fitting music.

My first legendary drop is one that I probably won't ever give up, although I'm not sure exactly what the gains are. It's an arm piece that regenerates AP faster.

I've had some mixed results with legendary drops. But I got a sniper rifle that refills AP with every critical shot. And I'm using a Luck build, so it's really fucking awesome.

Dialogue is a percentage chance. Pretty lame.

I had 3 show up last night while wondering around, neat loot but I hate the fact that I can't use the armor pieces I have found when the armor I wear now is all one piece.

Hope you have better luck finding them.

I have all those as well and I've rolled with
Piper
90% of the time now. She's great, really love all the contextual dialogue she has and her overall acting and personality. Though I'm starting to branch out because I want to hear the other companions and their banter. Haven't tried
Strong or Curie
yet at all though, just starting to use
Preston
.

For weapons and armor, you can scrap them from their respective workbenches from the mod menu (X or Square on controller). Junk should all just get tossed inside the building workstation with the "transfer all junk" button.

Hmm, didn't know about being able to scrap weapons and armor through the mod menu, although it doesn't really seem like it would be much faster overall for a huge list. I knew how to transfer items, I just didn't know that the game would actually auto scrap junk as needed.

You can also use the 'E' key instead of 'Enter.'

Thanks. That's the most helpful info so far, although it would be nice if the game actually told you hitting E would do that. Normally hitting E to "select" was simply to pick an item up, not to confirm scrapping.
Also as far as scrapping stuff in a bench? IMO I'm not going to bother with that simply because it's faster to just mash R and E (which I now know works) than having to go through a big list, making sure not to accidentally scrap the weapons and armor I want to keep. That would happen too if I'm just trying to speed scrap.

My character has a little pill on the status screen and a wonky face. Am I addicted to chems? It's taking a toll on my strength and endurance.

I've played the game for 15 hours and so far I've only come across three companions - basically all the starter pack companions. I'm seriously considering the Lone Wanderer/Attack Dog perks now because I've gotten attached to my little buddy.

There's a hotkey on the Stats page that will show you any active effects. It sounds like addiction to Buffout.

I'm now level 11, and have been spending almost all of my perk points on charisma so I can persuade people in dialogue. Are there any perks that I should grab sooner than later?

the dog just chills wherever you sent him. can't even dress him up

I switch clothes every time I need to pass a charisma test. it's tedious. Fortunately, you can just walk away mid-dialogue and get changed when you see the charisma options show up

Yup. Just went to the doctor and he cured my addiction.

Had never used any chems before so we got a little carried away in a gunfight.

When you upgrade the weapons/armor crafting perks, do you instantly get access to new improvements, or do you need to find "recipes"?

Instantly, although the "level" of weapon can limit you. For instance, pipe rifles can only get mods from levels 1 or 2 of gun nut whereas something like a combat rifle can be outfitted with level 3 mods.

Instant. Which is nice, but at the same time I would have liked there to be Legendary or Special mods you could find in the world. Just getting everything there kind of takes the mystery away from everything.

You can dress the dog somewhat. Bandana, dog specific goggles and armors.
Currently, my (male) charisma set consists of fancy glasses, a militia hat and a ruby sequin dress with high heels. I can't tell if anyone really likes my character, or they are laughing so hard that they just give in.

That Trinity Tower quest is completely broken for me. First the elevator bug, then enemies in t-poses, then it froze (for the first time in like 12 hours), then the AI wouldn't stop shooting enemies that were already dead or like twenty floors above them.

It's like the game comes up with new ways to prevent me from finishing the quest every time I go through it, it's awful.

bought this yesterday and spent the first almost and hour in character customization. then the next two hours walking around picking up everything that wasnt tied down to the floor. And I have to say I already have more of a interest in the story of this one than i did in FO3 and FO:NV and Skyrim.

I love the different kinds of chems you can make. Me wish I'd put more points into endurance so I'd have a shot at getting the perk that makes you immune to addiction. There really isn't a dump stat in this game.

That I do not know. I believe there must be some way to remove mods as I've had a bunch of mods just sitting in my inventory but I'm not sure how they got there. Maybe disassembling the weapon saved the mod? I'm just not sure.

There is, but you need to make a 'new' mod to put the old mod into your inventory. If you scrap it as-is you lose everything.

If you put a regular glow sight scope or whatever, you'll get the night vision scope in your inventory.

Thanks. I thought I tried making another scope to see if my night vision scope would be available, but it wasn't.. gotta try again tonight.

Okay so new player here, barely played Fallout 3 and Fallout NV - this is really the first Fallout game I'll be playing.

So far I've been sticking to the main quest, I'm probably no more than an hour or two in
Spoilers for latest story quest:
Basically going to Corvega to clear out some raiders

My issue so far has basically been that in the span of the 2 hours I've played so far I must have died like 5-10 times, especially on the journey to
Corvega
. How can I quickly dis-engage enemies? Also the damn dog companion just seems to aggro enemies and then when I try to retreat the idiot keeps fighting.

Basically, what the hell am I doing wrong here? I'm thinking I'm just going to go back to the first few towns to scavenge more carefully for supplies/weapons, maybe start building up a settlement or something.

Shishkabob O_o

wish I was playing melee now lol

at least this place was a godsend for flamers and flamer fuil, hadnt seen one yet

I was kicking ass with my minigun last night with Heavy Gunner Rank 2. Next thing I know I only have 20 bullets left :(

Is there a good ammo vendor in the game? The weapons vendor at Diamond City didn't have much. In NV you could make ammo.. I assume you can't eventually do that here?

The game feels a bit harder than F3/NV to me (on normal). I find myself using sneak attacks a lot more. I used them a lot in that mission. Crouch and snipe, retreat and repeat! And mow up the remains with my minigun. But I still die pretty quickly.

Is the perk that allows your workshops to have trade routes or whatever good? Does it allow me to access the resources like concrete, etc from any workshop?

kind of a dumb question, but I've seen it referenced a few times over the last bunch of pages. What is save-scumming?

Complained about the quests so far but the randomness is still top notch.

Had to run from a radiation storm into some shelter.
Was hiding in said shelter when something big started walking outside.
A goddamn Behemoth starts looking through the windows.
I freak out and run out into the storm only to meet two Deathclaws.
Oh shit!
Back into the shed and the Behemoth starts fighting the Deathclaws.

They get stuck in some architecture and I kill all three of them using 3982 bullets and zero skill.
Good times!

Local leader 1? Supply lines you mean. It's awesome. You assign 1 settler to start going back and forth between settlements and it makes it so those connected settlements share junk resources

Is there a crafting station in Sanctuary that let's me work on my armor? Or do I have to wait till I get the perk?

I see the gunsmithing station at least but can't find the other.

Basically saving and repeating things with a lot of RNG elements until you get the best possible outcomes instead of dealing with any of the consequences of failures.

Thanks, thats exactly the one I mean. So next basic question, how do i get population to grow? my sanctuary has high defense, and i added more beds, and they are happy. What else needs to happy for population growth?

It's on the side of the building -- when facing your power armor rack, go around the left side and it should be there.
