Been playing a good bit.

Cannot be even slightly fucked with the settlement management. I really hope after that Sanctuary mission there is no more mandatory building.

Also I have no idea where Dogmeat is.

Feeling the same way. Don't care about the building stuff at all.

It tells you how many letters from the word you picked are in the correct one, use that to determine it

Eg if you pick the word SEEDED and it says likeness 2, you know there's no E in the answer because SEEDED has 3 Es

I was under the impression that the right characters also has to be in the right "slot" also?

Like SEEDED would say "Likeness 3" if ENDED wass the right answer (XXXDED).

That's what I figured, but it still seems tough. If I'm getting a 0 then a 1, I only have two chances left with over 10 options to pick from.

Look for () and [ ], pressing on those removes a dud. Sometimes there will be letters and number between them but it will highlight the entire thing.

Got the perk poster framed for only $22, potato quality picture.

I'm still feeling my way around how settlements work in the game.

I can store my ever growing pile of stuff at the workstations? and linked settlements will have access to said stuff? Is there a limit t what I can store in a workstation?

I have Sanctuary as part of the opening missions, but I have stored my Power Armor at Red Rocket, however I have no defences in place at Red Rocket. Could I potentially loose that power armor? Would it be a better idea to store the Armor in Sanctuary in this case or put some defences up?

So, a night or two ago, I was checking out the Boston Library to find one of those Bobbleheads (specifically, the
Intelligence
one). The library's defense systems held off a Super Mutant raid and one of the corpses turns out to be a legendary. I managed to find from it a cool pistol with good damage around the 30s and provides extra explosive damage, almost like the Torque banded guns from Borderlands.

Anyone already rerolled their character?

I started with:

S - 3
P - 2
E - 1
C - 6
I - 6
A - 7
L - 3

I built a character that would have access to all of the settlement crafting features, but I kind of wish I had stuck with my agility/luck build like I originally planned. My character is well rounded but not great in combat at lvl 19.

The likeness just means how many letters are in the same spot as the actual password.

So the word WORD is the PW, then LORD would show 3, MOON would show 1 because the first O matches the placement with WORD.

Yes to Dogmeat and other NPCs staying forever (though he specifically has an apparent bit of glitchiness that can make him vanish), and there's no need to pick a random mailbox this time around since you can store all of your stuff in a settlement's storage.

Much appreciated.

You need to have the local leader perk 2 for settlements to share benches, if you have that you can set up supply routes.

So with the hacking. If the likeness is 1, does that mean you got just one of the letters right, which could be any letter in the word? Or does it mean one of the letters is is correct and also in the right place?

So if the word is "like" and I get a likeness of one, could the password be "flat" because "L" was the likeness of 1? Or does the L have to be in the same position?

The library's defenses are nothing to fuck with, somehow I ended up accidentally pissing them off and got my ass kicked by the Securitrons and turrets. I must not have paid my overdue fines.

I somehow got absorbed into settlement building for 3 hours, now I'm somewhere over 130 defense. I wish someone would attack my missile turret fortress.

Wish they would fix the inverted corner walls, too. Pain in the ass making corners a glitchy way, and my brahmin keeps getting stuck on the roof lol.

Same position. Flat would be 0 likeliness.

If you get 0 then it also removes a ton of words. Basically I just respell the word overtop of another one, if a single letter matches up then it's not the password. Especially useful in longer password strings if you start with a word ending in -ING since it's super common, so it would rule any word that ends like that out if there's not a likeness of 3.

If you press start, then goto help then goto "hacking" it says that if you got one correct it counts for letter AND position. You can scroll down to read more information as well (wish the game taught you that)

Just an FYI for all. How I learned everything.

must be in the same position, so in your example flat could not be the password

I asked this earlier, but didn't really get a response:

I've had 2 instances where I've killed off Raiders, pockets were full, so I had to stash and come back. Upon coming back, the bodies were completely gone. Meanwhile some corpses in a town (Concord) have been sitting there since the beginning.

To clarify, the bodies in question still had loot on them, and the bodies that seem to never disappear are completely empty, including their clothes.

^ Yeah I've had a few occasions where bodies disappeared even before I got a chance to loot them, if I'm overburdened I always put my crap into a container instead - done it like a dozen times now and I've never had the items from those disappear. I suspect the despawn values for corpses are a bit wonky and will either be fixed by an official patch or at least a mod, but for now just put them into any static container instead (most containers still respawn afaik, but that's measured in in-game days so you'll have plenty of time for some back and forth junk muling).

Have people talked about this before?

If it's anything like their earlier games, on PC (especially if installed to an SSD) you shouldn't be noticing any difference unless your saves start numbering in the hundreds. It's a good idea nevertheless to trim those saves every now and then if you do new ones constantly (if only to free up some space), they're located at C:\Users\USER\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves by default.

Just finished the game. I think i have played around 50 hours. Joined almost every faction and did a lot of the side quest. Some really solid game mechanics but overall it was a pretty big disappointment. It was really fun to loot, and the option to find new and exiting gear made me not want to drop the controller.

The biggest problem is that the game struggles to have a steady learing curve. After just a few hours i was already rocking a power armor and a minigun, and from that point i felt invincible. I wanted to feel alone in a big open world. The story was also a big step down compered to Skyrim.

Since it is a Bethesda game of course there will be some technical problems, i have encountered a lot of bugs, broken quest, framerate dips and crashes (PS4).

Are you locked to a single group and have to load a save to join and finish another?

Oh ok.

Also, I've heard that for Steam to recognise the changed saves you need to delete those save files from in the game, so it syncs properly.

Yay another game where the enemies call the female player character "bitch" every 10 seconds.

I mean, to be fair, the people saying that are dumb and their purpose is to be shot in the face. It's not much solace, but at least the people tossing slurs around aren't the ones you're supposed to relate to.

30 hrs so far and I'm loving it despite... serious issues with pretty much anything that isn't the core gameplay (crafting, shooting, exploring, etc). I'm having a really hard time finding bespoke questlines too which is disappointing.

I have 2 questions for the OT:

Anyone find any Cthulhu esque stuff like 3 in 4? If so can someone give me a hint as where to look?

Is there a questline explaining who puts all these mannequins everywhere? Yes, this is a
sort of
serious question.

Any tips on beating the mirelirk
queen?
Im getting my ass handed to me. So far I got 3 frag mines, a couple grenades, missile launcher with two rockets and a flame thrower.

I just left my power armour and mini gun at Sanctuary.
I might take my Fat Man out one day though.

So what's the deal with factions this time around? I joined the Minutemen but then as soon as I was asked to join the BoS the Minutemen companion got pretty antsy. Can I join more than one faction at a time? And is this the same "good" Brotherhood as the one in Fallout 3?

Like every Bethesda game before this, I'm cursed with almost being immediately over encumbered, even when dumping all of my unneeded junk and weapons. Any advice?

What does the exclamation mark in the triangle mean on the workshop menus? I have them on the defense stats.

It's not high enough in relation to your food/water/size levels. Add some more defense.

Offload stuff to dog, upgrade strength, create "pocketed" armor that adds more carry weight. If on PC, cheat.

I'm getting my ass kicked.

I can't kill the Mirelurk Queen. All the NPCs die along with other Mirelurks just chasing me constantly. I cant even seem to get away to leave it for now it just follows me.

oh man... for anyone else tired of chasing people down in the settlements, I just realized you can build a bell under resources that gathers them up

I had to cheese this one --
over by one of the doors to the inside part of the fort, there are two partially bricked up windows, one of which you can shoot through that will protect you from the queen's annoying spit attack. All you have to worry about is the occasional wandering hatchling.
