Is anyone trying to raise several categories of their special? In the other games I tried to really specialize but I think here I want to have a lot of them close together with strength and luck low and intelligence high. Is that a reasonable idea?

I'm a little scared by this new perk system ^^`

I stupidly went 3/3/2/5/5/5/5.. not sure if I'll regret it. Plan to get my Per to 4, Char to 6, and Luck to 7 though.

I used it for a but, it doesn't seem to really help with stealth / detection. Maybe, because I am playing on survival. And, it's sometimes annoying by making the the pip boy invisible.
Seems to be working alright in Very Hard, but I already had some points in sneaking so that's probably why.

New to the series.

All the stuff I find, do I store it in cabinets at work shops and it will stay there? Is there max limits where you store items?

I am not sure what to do with everything yet. Thought I should wait for scrap perk before getting rid of anything.

Just started the game up not too long ago and it soooo good. Also I was expecting the graphics to let me down with all of the discussion but god damn is this game pretty.

I just want somebody to mod a weed eater for XB1 version. Got all this greenery coming up through my floors. :/ I believe I saw a model for one in game but you couldn't do anything with it.

Yeah, there's permanent and unlimited storage at workbenches -- though keep in mind that without a perk, their storage isn't universal. So you're best bet is to pick a spot (e.g. Sanctuary) and exclusively deposit your scrap into that workbench.

Yes, they'll stay there, no limit. In order to avoid hoarding, it's best to part with items that you know you'll won't need by scrapping them for materials.

Has anyone done a quest that involves
the doc
in Diamond City? Can you
ever change your face again if he dies
? I'm on about the
detective quest to find Earl
.

How do you go about maxing out a companion? Been rolling with Valentine for awhile and I've gotten him to randomly start a conversation two times.

Was there a way of
saving Kent Connolly without the required CHR for the speech checks with Sinjin
? That really bummed me at the end of that quest :/

I used the CHR to tell the guy to
kill me first
. I don't have super high charisma, but it worked.

My char lvl22 is a sniper so plenty of points / gear into sneaking. Guessing, it's just much harder on survival mode.
Yeah, probably - Survival is pretty unforgiving. I played the first 10 or so hours in Survival, but got tired of getting one-shotted by Legendary Mirelurks and bumped it down a notch lol

Late game spoiler:
The Battle of Bunker Hill is probably one of the worst quests / set piece moments in video game history. It tries to set up the "here's where you choose your allegiances" scenario but doesn't account for any of the variables. I was going to help the Railroad win, so I met with the Courser and killed him after the battle started. Not a single person in the battle attacked me or even aggro'd onto me. I get to the 4 synths in the basement and they don't even respond and the quest objective is still unfulfilled... I suppose the only way I get a response out of them is if I make it to them with the Courser alive and then betray the Courser, which would have me killing all the Railroad people as well. Or abandoning the battle altogether to head after the Father.

edit: also I just reloaded after all that and the game still thinks I leveled up, which I did during the mission.

I loaded as soon I failed to speech check Sinjin and just immediately used VATs on Sinjin and his main bodyguard and then just tried to get to Kent to block incoming shots. I basically decided that I'll just be a faster shot. The other unnamed guards only cared about killing me at that point.

I keep getting all these guns but no fucking ammo for them.

Do I need to do main quest stuff to get better ammo drops or just plain better drops period?

What I want to use is the chain gun you get when you power up your first power amor but I can't find ammo for it. I'm afraid to use that Cryo gun you get from vault 111 cause I imagine it'll be dead weight once I use all the ammo. I also want to use fusion weapons but can't find ammo.

I got a bunch of .38 ammo but not a fucking .38. I don't even have .10 mm ammo for fuck sake.

I tried the VATS method as well...
unfortunately all my weapons were not strong enough to one shot kill him and he just blew away poor Ken every time. I liked him as a character...was bummed that I wasn't able to save him
:(

If you can, get the second perk in the Luck skill tree (I think it's called Scrounger?) Gets you more ammo drops.

That's unfortunate. I have a more Luck based character so crits helped me a good bit there.

This is why i increased that perk that increases the ammo you find, i was also having that problem for like at least 10 hrs. Havent had it since i raised it to like lvl2

Yes, afterwards
the other doctor will set up shop in the downstairs surgery place. Might take a day or two before he moves, though.

How do you assign someone to a task?

Also, I think i screwed up my planting. I think I put some muta plants too close together, now I cant select them in the workshop menu to move them, and I can't harvest them either. Ive been assuming my settlers been harvesting them since they never have anything on them, but since he said I need to assign someone to harvest there, that doesnt seem to be the case.

I didn't invest any points into luck. There's always something to consider when playing this game.

This game really needs ammo conversion. I'm about to console command my way to infinite .308 ammo because the game will NOT give me any and all I want to use is hunting rifles all day erry day.

Build mode -> select person -> walk over and select thing to assign to

Question for those who have been to D.B. Technical High School:

Is there a monster to fight in a "basement"? All the literature talks about it but I think the guy at the top floor killed that monster. But I'm not sure. Should I be searching for it?

The best one I have found is the BOS Armor clothing, found if you follow the distress call questline. Has like 2/5/5. It's pretty ugly tho:

I hate the armor design in the game, in particular how plastic-y best combat armor looks. Underline armor is the one where I cba about 1 or 2 defense and just go with "Dirty Arm Fatigue", because it looks the best.

I guess that's quite okay. I've been using this road leather for ages, as I can't find any other good enough armor clothing that I can use with the armor parts. I hope modders can fix this issue later.

Oh, and where are the trench coats? Can I just kill Preston and get his coat lol.

The "monster" is the
guy in the basement wearing the mascot head, who went crazy from rabies and started killing his own men to appease the mascot
.

At the Augusta Safehouse there's a Deathclaw on the bottom floor. Maybe it's related.

Thanks. Does the harvested food go into my workshop or to the community?

Second question, are there missions other than the cat one, bring wrenches and fertilizer in
Vault 81
?

It feels like I'm suppose to mess with the relations in the depot and the jet junkie, but when I've talked to ppl, only got those 3 missions.

Thanks. That guy is upstairs though I think? Either way good to know thanks! Killled him

edit: just stepped outside. Was never so glad to have cleared a place and been done with it. lol

So after 50h I decided to take a break from the "main game" and follow the story. I still need to talk to Piper and the detective. xD
Have almost everything north / east / west from Diamond City explored, only the south left.

Ever thought about buying some? So many traders sell .308.

I would buy some if I knew of any traders. The only one I've seen so far was a lady with a brahmin and a couple guards that roamed into Sanctuary but I haven't seen her since. I suppose I should go to Fenway one of these days, there's probably traders in there...

Head over to the diamond city the traders at the market will hook you up, rest for 24 hrs and restock.

As long as the food number is green in your settlement you're good. You can use harvested food to plant more food though.

And I have no idea about those missions. Only been into Vault 114.

Trader with I think tenpines bluff had like 40 of them. Her name is Cricket.

I say I think they are the tenpines traders because I ran across them in front of the camp in front of the entrance of 81. I guess they travel after you do the quest for them? Or the caravan guards got the same templates.

:D

First floor is going to be trading, second floor is for living.

I got an entire level from building this.

Spent so much time in Super Duper Mart. Place has a ton of
ghouls
.

Oh and I'm obsessed with the Nuka bottles.

must. collect. all. Nuka Quantums.

I want a display full of them.

I'm convinced I'm going nowhere in the story for a long time. Always getting sidetracked haha
