Holy shit, this game is so damn buggy.

I've created a new character like three times now and my Vault 111 just won't open. It just glitches and stays shut forever.

What in the actual fuck.

Is 5 Int too high for Idiot Savant to be of any use?

A guy on Reddit did a bunch of research and his conclusion was that even at high INT levels, the perk was still worth it if you care a lot about EXP even if it triggered less often. The only downside is the annoying sound it makes every time it happens.

Should I always be using "store all junk" in crafting-places? Does everything get shared across all different crafting stations, even in different locations? I got overencumbered pretty fast, how selective should I be in picking up junk?

In this version of Fallout, every item in the game (even stupid crap classified as "junk") can be broken down for materials for crafting. You don't need to worry about storing everything if you don't plan on crafting a bunch at the beginning. Just collect stuff you think might be unusual. All of the workbenches in your settlement share the same inventory. However, different settlements have different Workbench inventories unless you use a perk to create supply lines between them. The latter is a bit complicated to explain.

Also is there any point in dismantling stuff yourself or is that done automatically if you need resources?

"Junk" items in the Workbench will automatically be broken down when the components are needed to craft things.

aaaand the Power Armor.. how do I handle that? I have one standing in the Red Rocket place now. Will it stay there forever?

Make sure to take out the Fusion Core. Then, NPCs can't take it. When you want to use it, just insert a Fusion Core back into it.

Also have no idea how to build my character. Kinda going for a stealth-character but not sure if that's useless or not. Have not understood the leveling system quite yet..

It's completely up to how you want to play. The game will reward you and punish you pretty equally regardless of how you spec your character. There is a wide variety of situations/enemies/etc.

for real what the fuck is it about these goddamned games that is so fucking addicting?! i can't stop playing it or thinking about it.

It's the freedom. Basically, you feel real ownership over your character, items and actions. That's why. And now that they've added Settlement building, there's even more.

Is there a quest related to the massachusetts state house? Place seemed insane to just stumble across. I can't believe I made it through there as a level 19.

what's better between automatic rifles and the non-automatic ones? There are 2 good perks for the rifles but I have no idea what I should pick, I can't even tell if it's automatic or not before using it/buying it. playing on hard and I'm still at the beginning but it feels like I need some damage buffs already.

also, any idea of how many of the ''big quests'' (usually the ones related to achievements) are missable?

It sucks being a energy weapon user. Fusion cells are too damn rare!

I had 120 or more and now I'm down to like 49. I use to come across them a lot. Now that those areas are finished, I'm relying on regular handguns.

I hate that one guy up
in the airship, who directs you to do his missions after you join the Brotherhood. I wanted to take out the entire airship, but decided against it.

ok this pissed me off, I'm doing some work on one of my other settlements and I get a message that says "failed to protect (other settlement)". At no point was I warned that it was being attacked, and I can't just sit there checking my pipboy constantly. That needs to be addressed better. A lot of issues I have with the game are UI based. Don't get me wrong, I hate games that hold your hand constantly but FO4 kinda takes it to the other extreme sometimes

Had this happen to me last night. I was about to turn in a quest, but instead rushed back to that settlement to find it empty and all my crops, turrets, and generators ruined. I was very annoyed that I got zero warning about it.

Also, occasionally my pip-boy will say that Sanctuary Hills has 0 defense, but when I go back there everything is fine? One time I found a bloatfly corpse next to a turret, but the other times there was no sign of anything wrong.

Not that I know of as there is already one quest that involves a
Mirelurk Queen (Taking Independence, and you HAVE to kill the Queen in that one)
. Couldn't believe that place when I played through it earlier today.

Really not liking my ninja character. Sneaking seems way harder in this game.

Might reroll.

If you run while sneaking it's a lot harder. Hit Caps Lock to walk instead (although you'll go so slow you might want to die).

Once you get the perk that negates the running penalty, sneaking becomes quite nice.

As I pick up different apparel pieces in the game, is there a way to compare the stats of what I am wearing versus what I picked up to see which is better?

Is that the trick? I used to always roll a stealth character in Bethesda games, but in FO4 I've stopped leveling it up because it seems basically useless at the early stages of the game.

I guess i just need to be a lot slower with the analog sticks. (Since, i'm playing on PS4)

Thanks. Will probably stop picking up every little coffee cup and broom then lol.

Yeah, it is a lot harder. I was always in "Caution" mode at earlier levels because I was running while sneaking everywhere.

Once I figured that out, I was able to stay hidden far longer. Lighting also has an effect, I think. If you stay in darker areas you'll be hidden better.

When you put your mouse over a new piece of equipment, you'll see some +'s or -'s next to each stat that compares it to what you're currently wearing/using (unfortunately, there's no way to compare to items that you don't currently have equipped).

Thanks, and what do the lightning bolt and nuclear sign represent?

Move slower, keep your Pip-Boy flashlight off, and approach from dark areas out of line of sight. Some enemies are more perceptive than others (ghouls and dogs are going to be much harder to sneak up on for example). The heavier your armor the more noise it makes per movement, too.

Getting Armorsmith helps because you can either get Muffle mods (reduced noise from moving) until you get Sneak 4 as well as Shadowed material upgrade (better stealth bonus from darkness adjustment).

Also, if you really want to be a melee stealth type, get Blitz as early as you can. It allows you to get sneak openers so much easier when your Sneak is low, because you don't have to get anywhere near them to launch a VATS attack. So you can both stay further away for detection and launch attacks from much better hiding positions.

Edit - Oh, also keep an eye out for Destroyer leg armor pieces on vendors. You can get +10% movement speed on each leg, which is a big help for melee (and just great in general).

any respec potion or something found yet?
its terrible how they give you so many points in the beginning without explaining or demonstrating shit.
whats funnier is that they give a chance to respec 10mins later.
but the only thing you get to test it on are radroaches .
not to mention no one tells you that you can save up on the same points to later add to perks since they share the same points.
ive got 7 points in store and no idea which way to go because my initial distribution was all over the place.

Good to know.
Without bobbleheads, ect. I wanna hit L72+ so any extra XP I can get will probably help.

I'm going to admit, I got sick of looking for ammo and went ahead and used the exploit to get some extra. I have no patience to sit around scrounging through every damn trash heap. Maybe this game isn't for me

Where can I find good base clothing (how should I call it) that can be used with armor parts?
There are lots of good looking armor set/clothing but the defense stats aren't worth the look.

So my character has a glass bottle stuck to her hand... I'll try to post pictures but basically I've unequiped everything and still it just floats there above my hand.

Who is your favorite companion?
The Wasteland.
the-thinker-clipart1.png
Lone Wanderer

So what's everyone's favorite gun so far?

Mine is easily Overseer's Guardian. That thing is straight OP. Rips through anything that gets in front of it.
3000 caps, no idea how I'm going to get that many early in the game. maybe with the ammo glitch, wasn't it patched recently though?
and does the game consider that weapon non-automatic? From what I saw it seems a non-automatic rifle.

The best one I have found is the BOS Armor clothing, found if you follow the distress call questline. Has like 2/5/5. It's pretty ugly tho:
I hate the armor design in the game, in particular how plastic-y best combat armor looks. Underline armor is the one where I cba about 1 or 2 defense and just go with "Dirty Arm Fatigue", because it looks the best.

Is anyone trying to raise several categories of their special? In the other games I tried to really specialize but I think here I want to have a lot of them close together with strength and luck low and intelligence high. Is that a reasonable idea?

I'm a little scared by this new perk system ^^`

So Quartermastery mission is infinitely repeatable? 230xp each time just to teleport to a location and back, seems broken. Not going to do that.

Also found a Legendary Rolling Pin...this game is awesome
