Some stupid, thoughtless writing in the latest episode.

1. How the fuck are the dragon balls not already properly secured by I don't know, Dende the Earth god or Piccolo to prevent it from potentially being abused by others, especially those with bad intentions?

2. Ok Piccolo and Gohan saw the skies turns dark, sensed some evil energy from a direction, saw the motherfucking dragon arises on the skies and THEY JUST STAND THERE.

3. Why is King Sorbet absolutely sure that Frieza will obey his command even though he helped revived him, when he knew Frieza is a merciless bastard who threatens the galaxy? While I'm at it, who the fuck is King Sorbet anyway? We barely know him, don't do? How is he the catalyst of the revival of the villain of the arc?

4. And of course Ginyu is conveniently appearing on Earth even though he was turned into a frog at a different planet, because why the hell not.

Just what the fuck. Somebody help me understand.

Did you forget that Dende wished for everyone to be send to Earth before Namek exploded?

He never specified who he meant by everyone.

1. This is dumb, yeah, but so is every character in the series. Given who we're dealing with it's not that far-fetched to believe these people would forget about the dragonballs.

2. This happens in practically every Dragonball episode ever.

3. This happens in practically every Dragonball arc ever.

4. Dende wished Ginyu to earth after Frieza destroyed Namek.

Do they gotta give a shit? Pilaf and his gang wished to be young again some time ago too and they obviously didn't care. It's not their property.

2. Nah. When Frieza saw the dragon summoned by Dende from a far, he immediately rushed to it and screamed for his wish. Not just standing there like idiots.

3. Again not always. For example, Dr. Gero had the right idea to build suicide switch that at least made Android 17 and 18 submissive before things went wrong.

You say "the last episode", but that comment could be applied to any previous one too and even the Buu Saga. They never showed that kind of care and control regarding the Dragonballs, so I don't see why it'd start now.

So the dragon somehow knew the frog is not a true frog but Ginyu? Cute.

I think all animals from Namek were transferred to Earth too by that wish. Frog Ginyu at least was explicitly shown being transported to Earth in the old anime and I think Kai kept that scene, or at least kept one scene showing Ginyu already back on Earth afterwards.

Yeah, I guess my first complaint isn't quite directed at the latest episode, but DBZ and DBS in general. Like people, you knew these fucking magical balls grant wishes, and there were past records of evildoers trying to attain them for bad stuffs, and one time one of the bad dude nearly ended humanity in an attempt to acquire the balls, you still leave the dragon balls freely out there in the wild. WHY?? Now a crazy villain comes back simply because literally nobody has the idea to safely keep these dragon balls away to prevent such as scenario.

So why are there three wishes now?

Is that something from the anime version only

There were three wishes in the Buu Saga, without any on screen explanation for that change. The RoF movie had set it to two like in the Cell Saga after Dende recreates the Dragonballs. The three wishes type has a disadvantage though, because resurrecting multiple people with them counts as two wishes, while it's only one wish for the 2 wishes type.

2. The bad guys don't really do it that much, but the good guys do it pretty much every time. In your example, Dende, Krillin and I believe Vegeta were doing that very thing.

3. Yes, and then he said to the Androids "Hi guys I have a suicide switch to turn you off, nyah nyah". This is not a serious built on clever characters.

Another episode, another bout of complaining about lack of logic in Dragon Ball, c'mon guys. Like, you know what it is at this point. If you're watching Super, you probably watched Z. This is not unfamiliar territory!

Funny thing, no he didn't. 17 glanced over and noticed it as soon as he was activated, and pretended to be polite. Then when 18 was activated he nudged his head at the remote, which she noticed, and then she also pretended to be polite.

I suppose, if they gathered them together a villain would only snatch them all from one place. I don't think it's a big issue at all.

Z is a very logical series. Toriyama made sure everything that happened had some sort of explanation.

Yeah, who ever searches for a clever series should not look into Dragonball.

You know, that's kinda the WHOLE point of the Dragon Balls, they are meant to be a quest for hope, that every man can try to reach. The Dragon Balls were not secured in episode 1 of Dragon Ball, and they were not secured ever unless the Z fighters actually needed them before hand, which is not the case right now.
Kami-sama was still around and well long before Piccolo came back, and he never tried to stop it. He believes in free will. I assume Dende is the same.

You can like it or not, but it's been like since the very first chapter of the manga, so yeah, blaming that one episode is dumb.

2. Ok Piccolo and Gohan saw the skies turns dark, sensed some evil energy from a direction, saw the motherfucking dragon arises on the skies and THEY JUST STAND THERE.

Pfff. Pilaf already used the Dragon Balls since he is a child, they have no reason to be alarmed at the sky turning black. Remember Shenron can not force wishes on people that are more powerful than him, so they are not afraid. If it's really that bad they assume they can fix it.

As for not going in the direction of the evil ki, that's the thing, Tagoma says they have to hurry. This is an anime. Time is never happening "in real time". Never.

It has been addressed in the episode itself, the point is that they managed to revive Freezer fast enough. They are weaklings soldiers, they just are evil, they were no threat but it made them uneasy and they weren't there for long.

Would they really waste time to go there, for enemies barely stronger than Recoom, that are staying a total of 5 minutes...? Yeah no, Goku maybe, with instant transmission. Not Gohan and Piccolo.

3. Why is King Sorbet absolutely sure that Frieza will obey his command even though he helped revived him, when he knew Frieza is a merciless bastard who threatens the galaxy? EMPEROR FREEZER, obviously he has an empire ? And obviously it's not the dozen of soldiers that we actually saw that made that empire.
It didn't matter who Sorbet was, he is expendable. Point is, he is a genius tactician, and he needs Freezer's help.

He also wants the exact same thing Freezer wants, that's why he has no doubt they will work together. Sorbet has no issue obeying Freezer. He just want to remain commander of the most powerful army in the universe, with Freezer as leader.

4. And of course Ginyu is conveniently appearing on Earth even though he was turned into a frog at a different planet, because why the hell not.

Well, i give you that one, but I think in one of the anime fillers, they actually brought Ginyu back on earth.

As for showing up in the right place at the right moment, this show likes to abuse that it seems, remember Pilaf found his way on Bulma's ship randomly.

That being said, I don't care, at all, i'm super hyped for Ginyu coming back.

Just what the fuck. Somebody help me understand.

You're welcome.

First episode in a while I didn't care for, although I enjoyed the training with Whis, Piccolo and Pan scene, and the appearance of Captain Ginyu. Pilaf and co just bore the hell out of me, and I don't care for Freeza's army either. Oh well, just a set up episode...

Z is a very logical series. Toriyama made sure everything that happened had some sort of explanation.

There are some pretty big inconsistencies at times, especially regarding ki sensing and such. Most are in the Buu Saga though - like how everyone passively felt Freeza arriving on Earth in the Cell Saga, and yet no one could sense Goten and Trunks becoming SSJs. Then, there's also the issue regarding Gohan SSJ1 vs SSJ2 in the Buu Saga, where there's seemingly no reason he shouldn't be fighting in SSJ2, but he's drawn with a SSJ1 aura.

Gohan stopped training, and his power level dropped accordingly before the buu saga

Gohan didn't continue training after the Cell fight. He was out of practice and hadn't gone SSJ2 in the seven years since (which is why when he does transform in the Buu saga, he's noticeably weaker than he had been when fighting Cell). Unlike Goku and Vegeta, he didn't work himself to master his new transformation.

Very slow episode. I hope they actually show how Goku and Vegeta reach blue hair Super Saiyan. If they do that off-screen I'll be really disappointed.

"It happens all the time" is not a good excuse for shitty writing

Ok, what's the with the snide attitude? Anyways, considering he had shut them down several times before, it should have been readily apparent to everyone what the deal was.

You grew up, dragonball didn't. Get a grip. You have to let some things go.
I just rewatched it all through Kai in the past two years or so, so it's not a case of "it was always this way but you just couldn't see it" either

DBZ had a very clear story that was more or less consistent up until Freeza, with the Super Saiyan legend being the only glaring thing that was subverted in Cell.

Buu was all over the place with its inconsistencies and poor writing. Trunks and Goten's Super Saiyan mojo (the no-tails excuse is BS because Future Trunks was a different story) and the protagonist musical chairs were the big ones.

DBS isn't as bad as Buu, but it still has wonky writing at times, as stated above. And it certainly doesn't treat all of its characters with respect (Gohan, Goten, Trunks).

Sounds like I'm ragging on Dragonball, but I love it all, including DBS... flaws included. Just wish it stuck with the more serious and focused tone it had from Piccolo Daimao -> Cell. Minority opinion there, but eh.

Sorry if I came off as snide, that wasn't my intention. I just thought that original sequence was pretty cool and I wanted to gush about it mainly.

Another game of bad translation or actual funkiness: Mine said if Freiza is back, 70% of the universe would be theirs, when before it was accepted he had a galactic empire. So universe = 1 galaxy?

Their simulation also just showed a few dots around what looked like Earth....Sigh. Earth was a minor backwater, wasn't it?

I don't think anyone's saying it is a good excuse.

But also, like, good writing is not why anyone's watching Dragon Ball. Bad writing's just part of the package at this point! You either get over it and walk away, or you get over it and stay. Complaining about it every week does no one any favors.

People didn't seem nearly as accepting of GT's poor writing and pacing.

You really can't find inconsistencies with early DBZ stories?

Gohan stopped training, and his power level dropped accordingly before the buu saga

He turns into a SSJ2 to showcase it to Kibito, but afterwards never uses it again. The characters call him out on not using his full power against Dabura, but it's never specifically said that he wasn't using the power "beyond Super Saiyan" either. The whole scenario is kind of odd.

(the no-tails excuse is BS because Future Trunks was a different story)

Future Trunks was already a SSJ while training with Gohan in the manga. The anime changed it to make things more dramatic, but then created the inconsistency with the Buu Saga.

DBZ had a very clear story that was more or less consistent up until Freeza, with the Super Saiyan legend being the only glaring thing that was subverted in Cell.

The Saiyan Saga and Freeza Saga actually have a bunch of inconsistencies compared to Dragonball, it's just that people usually don't care since they only watch Dragonball afterwards, if at all. The near death power ups, for example, absolutely didn't exist back when Goku recovered from near death before the Saiyan Saga -> Freeza Saga transition. Then there's stuff like everyone becoming stronger than 23rd Budokai/Raditz battle Goku after training with kami one single year in spite of him having trained three years there and having gotten the sacred water power up just before that. The power level scale and lifting feats also don't make sense with what was seen in early Dragonball. Tao Pai Pai's pillar throwing should make everyone above him more than strong enough for something like 10x gravity.

Dragon Ball Super (2015)

This episode was bad because they didn't have this play when Freeza came back like in RoF. For shame.

Gonna assume that frog that was given an odd amount of attention is Ginyu.

Goten and kid Trunks always were and always will be comic relief characters. You're really looking in the wrong place for dignity if that's who you're focused on.
