Hah, ran into that very cottage on my way to the Glowing Sea yesterday. That deathclaw scared the shit out of me.

Haha exactly what I was on my way to. I thought I'd walk around and explore, discover some locations closer, then hop in my Power Armor and fast travel to the closer locations. Didn't think I'd be dancing with a Deathclaw on the way.

For the longest time I didnt think I could find shotgun shells, then realized you have to scroll down further to the letter S. they have them in diamond city

You mean in loot lists? It seems like the loot list prioritizes from top to bottom: legendary, ammo, aid, and gear. So unless you're getting like 5 legendaries per person they should always show up at the near top.

can anyone confirm if you can finish all the main quests in a single run?
I've seen
from the achievements/trophies, at least, that you can somehow choose to do quests for the synths, or something similar. so I'd assume that you miss other quests by doing so?

I guess I can keep a safe file where I choose the other path if that's the case. and about save files, how do I delete them on PS4? I've got around 40 now and it's a bit annoying.

It's a bit more than that. Just keep going on with their quest line.
they fixed that by making a magical door appear when you finish the quest, it's totally a closed hole when you first get there so it seems very silly.

It's definitely placement. I think you've just gotten lucky.
That could be it because after getting rid of the duds my hack go like this: Chooses one Word and I get Likeliness=0 or 1 than I choose another word: Terminal Unlocked.

I mean by the time the duds are gone I only have 4-5 words to choose from and with 3 tries (I don't use the 4th one because I don't want to be locked out) my odds of finding the password within my 1st 3 hacking attempts are pretty high.

Exactly. You already know what's up.

In 40 hours I've only found ~40 RadAways. I have found over 300 Stimpacks, though.

Wait really? I have 60 some radaways and 80ish stims, but I sold a good 30/30 of each, you simply don't need more than 5 radaways if you have the hazmat suit and you don't need more than 20 stims ever, they drop like candy.

So I'm just walking around in a forest with my new level 10 character and freshly hired Strong and we see a little abandoned cabin. Hey what's insid- oh shit.

Beat the devil out of it.

Just started this game. I'm confused about storing junk/items. Are stored items shared between workbenches or not? Are they shared between workbenches in the same area, like say the armor bench and the weapons bench in Sanctuary? It seems silly to have to get all of the junk in between benches.

Is VANS as useless as I'm seeing people say? I picked it first because I usually like to have perks that give me better awareness/maps/etc, but now I'm wondering if I just wasted a point.

Finally, I got the laser musket and the cryo gun. Any ammo for these early on?

Thanks!

I hate the password terminal thing more than almost any mechanic I have been forced to engage in through gaming. It might be the worst

You can mod it out.. so you always see the right answer. I just select the first 3 choices and log out... eventually after 3 tries i usually log in.

Dogmeat has cryo ammo on him after he gets the gun for you

quick does anyone know the no clip command? im stuck and I just killed a legendary, really want to see hwat he has >_<

Interesting how different people's experiences are. I use radaways liberally and have never had a problem with not having enough of them.
Ya, it's not like I haven't been thorough in my looting. Eh, more business for the Doc. At 40 caps a pop, I figure I'm single-handedly keeping him in business.

Not that caps have been an issue at any point in the game, I have 15,000 at the end now.

Hahaha, I love that we are all running into the same one right now, look like 5 posts up.

Was walking down the road yesterday, walked by a nice little town, cute little cottage by the lake. Walked up to the door and saw it was boarded. Shame I wanted to go in and see if there was any good loot. Just as I turn away I see some movement through the cracks in the wood. It was an Alpha Deathclaw waking up and rising. Turns out the back of the cottage was blown wide open. I immediately crouch, but too I had been detected. Called in some BoS air support, ran in circles around the cottage until the Vertibird arrived, hopped in and shredded that Deathclaw.

Great moments in this game.

How much content (specific quests and loot) am I missing out on because I'm a lone wanderer versus having a companion always with me?

Very little really. The extra gun helps in combat, and building affinity adds unique dialogue(maxes out with a unique perk), but I have yet to do a unique companion quest outside of the Minutemen stuff. Piper is close to wanting a relationship with me, but she has not given me a unique quest, just flavor dialogue about her past.

A nice touch is the contextual dialogue though. Companions often state their approval/disapproval on player actions or regarding questlines.

Yes, your junk is transferable on only a regional basis. So your armory can use material you stored in chem lab in Sanctuary, but not at another location, for example. And robots typically have lots of fusion cells(laser ammo), so look out for abandoned factories that are electronics-based(you can tell by the names).

I hate the password terminal thing more than almost any mechanic I have been forced to engage in through gaming. It might be the worst

I still don't get how that shit works, i know the number is the amount of letters that you have matched with the password but how can you tell which letters are which?

Yea fuck that. Don't even bother with it.

My first settler moved in. It was a ghoul and I was pissed. Am I racist? I just want some humans...

Can you remove the special bonuses from legendary enemy drops and put them on other pieces of gear? Currently have +1STR,+1CHR,+1END,+2PER,+3AGI from various pieces ontop of -15% dmg from Super Mutants, but they have low-ish defence and would love to put it on a couple of pieces of Combat Armour I found.

16 hours in and haven't even entertained Diamond City, I'd this standard for most folks?

Stuck in between Cervega power plant mission and settlement building. I have enough on my plate as it is now.

Although I did want to visit the plastic surgery doctor since I think my character looks too healthy looking for someone living in apocalypse world.

Dogmeat has cryo ammo on him after he gets the gun for you

People keep saying this. How do you get him to do it for you?

I'm still waiting to find some under armour better than the Vault 111 suit. I may have to fashion it away as I'm bored with it. Wish you could mix clothing and armour properly.

"Tcl".

I've noticed that after only upgrading my hacking skill a little I can turn turrets on and off but can't turn them in their owners. I just saw a tooltip suggesting that I need to find a skill mag to do that anyway, can anyone confirm/deny that for me?

Welp, I held off on the whole "building" thing for my settlement, because my gaming time is limited, and I'd rather get through the story.

Just spent a good 2 hrs tearing down everything in my settlement and building a house in Sanctuary.

How do I get clean water?

Clean water can be purchased from vendors, but you can also set up a water processing machine in th river near Santcuary.

It's extremely straight forward. You get four chances to pick a correct password. Each attempt tells you the number of correct letters. From there, you start narrowing down the number of feasible passwords based on the number of correct letters from previous choices.

The real problem with these freaking terminals, is that on the PC, I have no idea if I have to reload the game due to the high framerate terminal glitch that locks you into place after using a terminal. That is the true headache.

I love it, Mastermind and those type games were always some of my favorites. It's pretty easy once you take a look at all the words. Pick two words with the most common letters but entirely different as your first two choices, if you can't get it through process of elimination after that just pick a third word with nothing in common and you should have it easy.

Experimenting, basically. Just pick a letter and check what other words have that in the same spot.

There's also hidden commands hidden between brackets that can remove duds and reset your amount of tries.

Say the password is "Bear"

You are given a few words such as 'barn' 'dart' 'leer' 'bare' and ' card'.

You pick dart as your first guess, you will get 0 likeness because none of those letters synchnonize with 'Bear'.

Your next guess is 'leer', you get a likeness of 2 because the first 'e' in leer and 'r' match with 'Bear'.

It's the order of the letters that matter, not just the mere fact that they have the same letters. So if you picked 'bare', you would only get a likenss of 1(the b) even though the letters are identical.

Hope that helped.

It's not fun, it doesn't test any skills. it's just mindless busywork

Yea fuck that. Don't even bother with it.

Have you guys removed the duds? Makes hacking so much easier and saves alot of time. Specifically step 6.

http://www.wikihow.com/Hack-a-Computer-Terminal-in-Fallout-3

Use bracket tricks before moving on to the third word. One of the keys to successfully hacking is using "bracket tricks". If the terminal contains a bracket pair, removing it will get rid of incorrect choices or add tries back to your counter. This is why it's recommended that you save the brackets until you've made a few guesses so that you don't waste potential retries. Bracket pairs appear at random, though more tend to show up with a higher Science skill.[2]
Brackets are {}, [], <>, and (). The bracket pairs can contain any number of characters between them.
The easiest way to find a bracket pairs is to slowly move your cursor across every character on the terminal screen. Bracket pairs and all of the characters in between will automatically be highlighted.
You may want to save a bracket pair or two in case you need them before your last attempt.

just did like 4 random sidequests, just those repeatable ones...I keep saying im done with them and will focus on the story but then, I just...I just like how the game plays and feels. Its fun >_<

damn it Fallout, even that story beat cant make me hate you

The biggest game changer for me in regards to Hacking was the quote above by The Lone Courier. I'll repost it.
