Little trick to make it painless is to just guess the first 3 words in order, if it's not any of those, quickly back out and mash the activate key to get back in, rinse and repeat.

Becomes more useful for Advanced/Expert terminals, don't really need to do it for Novice ones.

Oooh I like this. Thanks!

OK. I need some help. I'm level 10 and I'm on a mission where I need to follow the dog to find some guy and I think I hate this game. I looks bad, it runs bad, it doesn't play well... BUT I think it might be partially my fault. Am I under leveled for that part? Is there a good way to approach the missions in an order of difficulty? It feels like I'm missing something...

(FYI - I played Fallout 3 and never had this problem)

Is that the story mission after you get to Diamond City? I just started that quest and am Level 21. There's so much stuff between Sanctuary and Diamond City that I simply can't just beeline it there. Got sidetracked by a lot of quests.

So, without any charisma/local leader perks, what's the best thing I can.. do.. with my settlement? Can I turn a settlement into a source of profit somehow?

So far (over 40 hours) i don't like the quests and the dialogues. I don't mind the dialogue system change. I just don't like the writing. It's not exactly bad. It's just bland and uninspired. The sarcastic option is usually some line that it's neither funny or clever.
But that's my opinion.

Visually, despite characters looking like ass i think it's a beautiful game. Whenever i'm trekking through the woods and light effects and weather effects kick in it's really cool.
I had this big shootout against some bad guys while they were fighting a caravan. Late night, raining. Beams and explosions gleaming into the night. A "stalker" moment right there.
I don't feel like i need better texture mods or weather mods like in the previous bethesda games. This will do just fine.
But character textures? Give it to me now!

Some thing that bothers me is how fallout has this whacky imagery to it. But the tone of the game is oh so serious, death and decay everywhere. It doesn't fit.
I wish fallout games had more humour.

And what's up with all the skeletons? I know, nukes and all. But most skeletons inside buildings seems to be of people that died instantly. I go into a pub and looks like people died while drinking or reading the newspaper or taking a dump. And after 200 years how come no one cleaned up this mess?

I love the combat. The weapons, the sounds. It's pretty fun. I had some trouble at first but i got used to the lack of auto aim. I barely use vats now.

Crafting weapons and settlements is nice.

Overall i think this is my favorite fallout game.

Thought there was a level cap? If not, AWESOME. I want to be God of the Wasteland.

Nah, there ain't no cap.

However, for those wondering about how much experience points you'll need, going up to level 275 added something like
3 million
exp to my current amount. I left the game running, took a shower, ate some food, came back, and the meter had barely moved.

Yes. The issue is that I don't know what's sidequest and what's mainline quest. And even for sidequests I'm not sure which one I'm ready for. I just did Freedom Trail and it sucked because I had to save every 20 seconds. Was I under leveled?

Weird glitch in Lost Patrol quest. I've done everything to a point where it asks me to "speak to Danse" to complete the quest. The problem is - he already took me to the Airport before I finished the Patrol quest and now he's a companion and I can trade/talk to him, but there isn't an option to tell him that I completed the quest. How do I complete it now?

You will be able to turn in that quest to
Lancer Captain Kells
after completing the quest
Show No Mercy
.

Anyone know what (if any) the population cap is you can attract via the settlement radio beacon at each location? My largest population settlement is at 18 people and has been holding steady. Wondering if anyone else will show up given enough time.

16 hours in and haven't even entertained Diamond City, I'd this standard for most folks?

It took me about 25 hours before I stepped into Diamond City for the first time

I saw a post here yesterday saying that it was 10 + your charisma level. Though I'm not sure if that's accurate

What's everyones favorite quests / questlines so far? I finished the Silver Shroud quest last night and that's probably my favorite. It was a pain in the ass to
kill Sinjin and keep Kent alive at the same time. I had to reload my save like 10 times and eventually I managed to keep him from killing Kent by keeping Sinjin staggered with my gatling laser
. Definitely worth it to get the
Silver Shroud armor upgrades.

Read that it was your CHA + 10. Do you have 8 CHA?

What did you do about Radiation? I was fast travelling to DC just for the doctor all the time early on. RadAways are too valuable.

Rad-X, Radaways, and there are traveling caravans with doctors.

Mutant Hound Chops also give you +40HP/-40rads or something like that.

Suspension of disbelief is a big part of what lets me get into games, personally and that little moment really bothered me.

He could have just said, "maybe if we could get a dog to track the scent..." instead of specifically referring to a character he had never met.

It's a small thing, but that really took me out of the moment.

Pfft, who knows what happens during those load screens!

10 hours in and still no Diamond City for me. Beginning of the game and just finding my bearings was okay I guess, but the game officially kicked off last night for me. Spent like an hour fortifying Sanctuary, and built a dope two story house with beds, full electricity and a pool table, got wrecked by my first deathclaw, and I started the questline with Paladin Danse (so awesome). I'm fully hooked now.

Read that it was your CHA + 10. Do you have 8 CHA?

Nope. I have Base 5 CHA + 1 from Bobblehead for a total of 6. But I did send a few named NPCs there so maybe the 10 + CHA is accurate for the number of settlers you can have show up and those you send directly don't count against that number.

Yeah...mmm. I must be brain dead or something because I find it very confusing and seem to get locked out all the time from not figuring it out.

Yeah that makes sense.

Step 1-Visuay look for words/symbols that have () or {} or [] and click on them to remove duds or replenish your retries.

Examples: (g_+/) or [9!+_] or {+-_':} or [{(8]

Step 2: Try any of the remaining words

Example: You click the word Neo but likeliness is 0 so that means that the password will not have the letter N,E or O and you don't click on any password that has those letters.

Example #2:You click the word Cat but the likeliness is 1 so your clue here is that the passworday have 1 C,A or T so now you look for a password that has an C,A, or T but not N,E,or O and you eventually go from there to narrow down your passwords.

Hint:If you don't want to be locked out after 3 tries simply back out of the computer without using your 4th try and retry the computer again and your 4 attempts will be refreshed.

I really liked that quest line too. I finished the last fight by
popping a grape mentats so that I got 10 CHR and going with the "Kill me first instead of Kent" option. That means they ignored Kent and went for me instead. I couldn't scare his goons by doing that though.
. How do you get the
armor upgrades? I don't know if I got any after finishing the quest.

Finally ran into my first encounters with a "Legendary" enemy. Well, I guess I should correct that, 3 in a span of like a hour. A Legendary Radroach, Mongrel Dog, and a Feral Ghoul Reaver.

From what I've seen, you get
armor upgrades at levels 25, 35, and 45. Once you hit those levels you just turn on Silver Shroud Radio and go see Kent.

I think the customization of weapons is a really really nice touch. Being able to name them and customize them to your liking makes them feel like your weapons.

I have a sweet auto pistol that I named Up Close, and then a fully customized shotgun named And Personal. The 10mm I acquired from the vault is named Left For Dead and is completely tricked out too

Does anyone know if there is a list of timed quests?
Not a list per say but I can tell you will randomly get miscellaneous Quests where you have to defend a Settlement that you own from a Raid Attack and if you don't go to them ASAP the Quesrs auto fails on you.

I thought that likeliness means how many of the letters are in the correct spot, so just because NEO is likeliness 0 doesn't necessarily mean the passcode doesn't have those letters. For example it could still be ONE, EON, or GAFNEO, but not NEOPHYTE.

Finally found out how to phase walls through each other and map geometry. Maybe I can finally make a settlement that doesn't look like cobbled together garbage

I never take drugs in these games. Now I feel silly for not thinking of that, because
Kent definitely got his fucking head blown off
.

Also, that entire quest is incredible.

I always thought that you were narrowing down what letter the passcode has and not the placement of the actual letter because that's how I been Unlocking my terminals.

Anyone found a fix for the bug during the quest "Confidence Man"?

When going to rescue Vadim in the Brewery, both Bull and his friend are set as essential, thus cannot die. They get down and shortly after return with full health.
I've checked Reddit and lots of people seem to have the same issue... they seem to have found a way to fix it using console commands, but I'm on PS4. :(

O my god Diamond City Radio plays Skeeter Davis' End of The World.

That was amazing.

Radio's playlist is totally messed up though, some tracks play literally every 15 minutes, whereas others [like Skeeter] only played once in the three hours I was playing.

99% sure this is how it works.

Likeness compares letter and placement.

Can't decide if I want to make B
unker Hill
or C
astle
my home base of operations.
I like the central location of Bunker Hill but the Castle is the main part of Minutemen faction quests which I enjoy too.

Was walking down the road yesterday, walked by a nice little town, cute little cottage by the lake. Walked up to the door and saw it was boarded. Shame I wanted to go in and see if there was any good loot. Just as I turn away I see some movement through the cracks in the wood. It was an Alpha Deathclaw waking up and rising. Turns out the back of the cottage was blown wide open. I immediately crouch, but too I had been detected. Called in some BoS air support, ran in circles around the cottage until the Vertibird arrived, hopped in and shredded that Deathclaw.

Great moments in this game.

Yeah that is how it works. It's often best to pick two completely opposite words with common letters to start like; DIVE and then CARS. If you are lucky some will show up with 0 likeness ruling out a lot of words but if they both have likeness you can start combing the other words for combinations of the two like CAVE.

Ok so you can't arange items in your base, it's buggy. I've put some stuff on a table and when I came back it was stuck in the table or fell under it...
I've spent a lot of time arranging my base, a real shame :(

How much content (specific quests and loot) am I missing out on because I'm a lone wanderer versus having a companion always with me?

So you pretty much know if something is likely to be time sensitive?

I imagine that non of the important quests are timed?

I had no clue that it was time sensitive so it failed on me, though I suppose it might have hinted it at me through the dialogue. Fortunately I didn't care after finding out it's a generic quest and not a real side quest.

I don't know if there are timed side quests yet.

Hah, ran into that very cottage on my way to the Glowing Sea yesterday. That deathclaw scared the shit out of me.

Once I get home from work I will try to pay attention on what words I choose when I hack a terminal because it could be placement or actual letter or heck it might be checking for both.
