I'm using a Pipe Rifle and it's my main weapon, exactly due the ammo being plenty. With the perk for extra-damage for non-automatic rifles and some good mods, it's a pretty good weapon (at lvl 13 btw)

The gun I was using at the beginning of the game is the gun I'm using now at lvl 39. 97 damage. VATS clears rooms.

It's kind of nuts.

I'm such a fucking idiot. After 35 hours I just discovered if you press X (Xbox controller) on a dead body you get a full list of what they have on them and how they stack up to your equipment instead of just pressing A and grabbing it.

God damn it.

I had to reload an old save from before the mission started. Not ideal but only way i could do it.

Not sure if a save at an earlier part of the mission would work too.

Unfortunately, it doesn't.

I have a save before I meet Travis at the Brewery, but am still invincible.

Guess gonna have to take a time out from the game until Bethesda fixes it, god knows when.

So I guess settlers can't be killed by raiders/super mutants? I just had three of them run headfirst into a suicide mutant, and they all just crawled around on the ground like essential NPCs

I'm assuming then that they can't be killed if you go there during an attack but can be if you leave them alone when you are alerted of an attack (I read somewhere that a guy who had like 12 people lost 9 of them by not going to the town during the attack). I came in one time and just by chance saw that there were Rad Scorpions in the town, but they wasted time fighting turrets and the one that got into one of the houses basically got curb stomped by the entire community.

haha, im 22hours in and didn't know this!

Going to Diamond City and just seeing all those locations around (skipped them for later) and I was just overwhelmed by how big the game is. Like the map isn't big but some locations that I've been visiting can take roughly like 30min-1hour to clear out.

So I'm trying to turn quests in to
P.A.M. at Railroad HQ
, and she keeps saying security mode is enabled, and won't talk to me. Is there something I can do to fix that, is it normal, is my game bugged, etc.?

Wow the main story quests are pretty good so far. Much more interesting than Skyrim's boring "go get dis and dis" questline. It actually feels like playing a campaign mode inside an open-world game.

I'm at the point where you have to go to
The Glowing Sea
now.

Question: Can I join the
Railroad
AND the
Brotherhood of Steel
at the same time and do their missions or do I have ot choose between one of them?

Welp we had a good run Cait.

Does anyone know what an item that adds "critical chance" is supposed to do in this game? Does it simply have a chance to completely fill up your critical bar?

After Nick says something about the mysterious stranger, (easter egg location spoiler)
go take a look at a file under a desk back at his office.

Edit: beaten

Was walking around and while in first person mode, the screen or my character's vision quickly flashed. Did I contract something from one of those bugs or mosquitos?

I need to use some console commands to see the companion sidequests tbh, otherwise I just wont do them. Not only do I not want to use most of them, but most of them hate when I do stuff like breaking locks or whatever. Fuck that

Not to mention that there seems no logic behind they liking me or not. I got Curie's quest randomly and I never used her before, used her for 5 min and boom, quest.Used Cait for ages, got her to tell me her life story and shit, could flirt with her, but no quest.

I've joined everything.

Can anyone tell me if there's a neutral companion like Charon the ghoul in FO3? He never judged me when I ate Three Dog or killed everyone in Rivet City. Bros for life.

I'm sorry to say that I'm still finding the dialogue options from the protagonist a bit flat and disjointed, but I did have a nice moment with Moe in Diamond City. My SS irritably explained
that Moe's version of baseball was incorrect, then sarcastically proceeded to explain how it in fact did work - to my surprise, Codsworth then snarkly commented in agreement. It's the first moment I've had so far that felt like an actual flowing conversation. It was fantastic!
It didn't last, sadly.

I'm really happy with companion interaction, though. It's nice to hear them commenting on the world, or interacting with NPCs. Even NPCs commenting on them! Hearing Codsworth or Preston whistling (I swear it sounds like he's whistling a knock-off version of Anything Goes) is always a nice little moment. Piper's mouth animation is creepy, but I really like her. I keep thinking how amazing it would be to interact with the NV gang in the same way as the FO4 cast, or even Fawkes/Charon.

O my god Diamond City Radio plays Skeeter Davis' End of The World.

That was amazing.

Radio's playlist is totally messed up though, some tracks play literally every 15 minutes, whereas others [like Skeeter] only played once in the three hours I was playing.

The End of the World is so lovely! Meanwhile, if I hear Crawl Out Through the Fallout one more bloody time, I'm going to shank the Diamond City radio presenter. It's my new Johnny Guitar.

This fucking game. I just did the
Silver Shroud
quest and along the way I got sidetracked by the
Mass Fusion building
where I found the
Strength Bobblehead
. Once I got to the balcony, I witnessed
the UFO landing
and rushed to grab the
Alien Blaster
. It's been an eventful day for sure.

I think I've kind of soured on some (most?) locations respawning everything. In theory re-populating an area with enemies and random junk items avoids some nightmare scenario where someone somehow gets stuck in the game with no resources, and also supports the apparent no level cap. That said that I do NOT like how it will also completely reset locations with their static drops, terminals, etc.

Specifically way earlier I went and cleared out (non-story location spoiler as far as I can tell) the
Boston Mayoral Bunker
. It was a bit rough, and took a few trips but I cleared it out, and earmarked it to come back to because there was a Master hacking terminal there and I didn't have Master hacking yet. Fast forward to today and I go back there at a way higher level; enemies have all respawned which is annoying considering why I'm going back but sure okay. Junk items have respawned, also okay. But every terminal has reset, which also includes a terminal to unlock a maglocked door that had a bunch of resources behind it, which also reset. The Master terminal I went back was the same thing, opened a maglock door with a bunch of stuff behind it. I feel like it kind of cheapens clearing out an area of special/locked rooms when you can just come back later and it's all full up again. I don't mind the enemy and junk respawns, but I really don't think they should have reset terminals and special/treasure rooms as well. Killed almost all of the magic of finally going back to this earlier area to get this treasure I missed. There was also a static Stealth Boy drop near the entrance there that was also back in the exact same spot.
