Decided to rent the game to see what all the hubbub was about. So far, it's pretty interesting and I'm enjoying it. Although, I'm still in the cryolab in the beginning of the game. This is my first Fallout game.

Graphics are good enough, I was expecting much worse based on all the commotion about it.

Thats the PS4 version. I think the game is gorgeous.

Anybody else experience the glitch during the "Dangerous Minds" quest where it keeps saying 'can't sit while in combat' when you try to enter the chair to continue the mission?

is there any work around to this?

On Xbone btw

So is it safe to go ahead and do the ****MISSION NAME SPOILER*****
hunter/hunted
mission?

Is it far enough away from the end of the main story that it wont end any faction quest lines for me?

people you really need to get better with spoilers. They shouldn't be mandatory to click to even know what you're talking about.

Is there any good summary of where the "cut-off" points/points-of-no-return are when it comes to the faction? I'm afraid I may have advanced too much within BoS, and I'd rather not replay the entire humongous game just to collect the last trophies.

If anyone can help by providing some quest names where I should create a good static save, that would be appreciated.

The game will literally tell you when this happens.

What's the point of spoiler tags, then? They're there so you can use the OT to ask questions about, say, mid-game quests or locations without entering the spoiler thread which is full of untagged end-game spoilers. It's a thread for people who have finished the game already.

Because people are shitty about tagging them?

Brotherhood of Steel is a better presented militaristic organization this time around. For those surprised at the radical departure from the liberators of Capitol Fresh Water Plant, I'd say, too bad really. Brotherhood of Steel doesn't actually belong in Commonwealth. They're the invaders much akin to Caesar's Legion going into Mojave.

F3 BoS were some hippy offshoot anyway, weren't they?

end game spoilers pls no read
I shot my son in the face on his deathbed. Having him being the draw to the institute was dummy as hell.

I was expecting a twist but not one that dumb. Honestly I think the story shouldn't have been about your family at all. I wish Shaun didn't exist. I still love the game though, it's just the story I find dumb

How are everyone's guns looking? I finally made something competent in the form of a .50 bolt pistol that does around 90 damage at level 17. First thing that doesn't feel like I'm just throwing gravel at the enemies. I'm sure some of you have absolute monsters though

Its kind of crazy that people feel the need to spoiler tag mission names when they give absolutely nothing about the game away. If I am asking if its close to the end it should be pretty easy to understand that its a mission far into the game. But I will work on my spoiler tagging. Sorry.

Is it better now?

I like Tex

Tex understands me

Found it, thanks!

No worries i had the same problem and even ranted it was bugged lol :(

So how many total discover-able locations are there on the map? I'm nearing the end of the story and have went through to the near end of BoS, Minutemen and I'm working on side quests for the Railroad right now. I have 291 discovered as of my last check. Is that all of them or no?

Too many >_>

Its ridiculous. Im still finding new shit 80+ hours in.

Capitol Brotherhood under Elder Lyons won't even make that kind of entrance into Commonwealth. It's a nice shift, you can no longer look at them and just ask 'Why do the rest of Wasteland community try to resist them if they're so nice and understanding?'

They no longer compromise and their rules are considered law. The addition of Latin phrases is strange after New Vegas's Caesar Legion but I'm just pleased with their no-nonsense attitude and polarizing stance in game. What's funny is that they're just so militarized it's hard to swallow them as some kind of harbinger of Civilization. If they just approach the whole thing with softer-stance like Lyon's it might just be a little bit easier to convince the populace to back them up.

O.o

I.... have a lot of discovering to do.

Jesus. I'm gonna need a map mod, because I'm already having trouble fast traveling to places with like 50 discovered places.

Guys, seriously...rob the (Faction / Story Spoiler)
Institute
blind. NPCs dont care and theres so much ammo and materials. Also its huge.

Then feel free to kill them all :p

Where exactly do I get more energy cells for laser weapons?

My shiny
BoS
laser rifle is my go-to for shooting super mutants but it seems to have limited ammo so....

After 50 hours, I finally set foot in the glowing sea. Holy shit, this place is scary and incredibly alien looking.

I'm also pleased to see that we can go outside of map borders for additional places. I was expecting to hit invisible walls immediately like in F3.

Anyone seen those humanoid looking Mirelurks from the "heres a bunch of legendary npcs fighting each other" video?

Slight vague story spoilers about nothing specific:

I've never liked the "throw in a ton of characterization for a character that had just recently died".
It seems almost like, um, misguided writing? Like there are better things to try to build narratively.

Mirelurk Kings, not as terrifying as queens but I had 2 spawn in a lake/boat marina on the western middle of the map and they almost got me good.

Just did the thing with Nick in the Memory Den. It was cool-looking and sweet and quiet. I really liked it. Nice change of pace.

Anywhere there are synths. They always drop energy cells.

Most raiders in my game carry them in late game too. And the place I mentioned some posts above has a ton.

The ammo perk helps but thats just for containers. Using other weapons while you stock up also helps, I have about 1k of each (except shotgun which I only have about 400) and lasers were definitely rare in the first 15-20 hours

Jesus. These vendors. Went to do another round and got the Heavy leather chest and legs I wanted.

Now I'm just missing the heavy variations of the combat armor arms. And then I gotta do a test run in stealth to see if the heavy variation just completely fucks me over.

I was wandering around and I found a battle going on between (npc type spoiler?)
children of Atom
and some raiders. I saw a (weapon spoiler)
gamma ray
gun being used for the first time... man that effect is cool.

Good to know thanks. I got the ammo perk going. Is the only way I can meet that other faction is to continue with the story or can I find them doing side missions?

Fun for you, painfully archaic and limited for me as somebody who plays modded minecraft on a daily basis.

I don't think they ever intended this to be like a competitor to Minecraft. It's a nice change of pace from the Elder Scrolls type 'just buy a house and furnish it with one of these pre-set decorations'

actually felt the exact same way. not only did it add nothing to the story, it took away from it. stupid decision

Ugh, that side quest in Covenant is the worst.

First off, due to what's probably a bug every house was permanently closed with a Master-level lock, forcing me to have to pickpocket keys to even get into the store.

Secondly, what's up with the progression? I found the caravan with evidence that they were in Covenant, so obviously that opens up some hard questions for the mayor, etc, right? Nope, the only way to continue the quest is to either break into the mayor's house or to follow a very specific dialogue line with one of the characters which, if you choose the wrong questions, causes her to never want to talk to you again. After which you still have to break into the mayor's house.

And finally, this was the first quest where I thought "hey, finally meaningful choice", since the game constantly gives you an option to make a deal and supposedly solve it peacefully. But then the final part of the quest is like "fuck that noise" and your choice boils down to kill these people of kill these other people. And to add insult to injury, but have basically the same result.

So i just picked up a power armor suit but it won't let me equip it to a frame. It says it needs to be repaired, how do I do that?

Nvm figured it out. thanks.

Jesus, I thought all the interesting stuff in this game was labelled but I'm dead wrong. Everyone bored should check out the parking garage adjacent to Milton General Hospital (It's south of downtown Boston, sort of in the middle of the map. if you don't know where it is, you find out in this quest:
The Silver Shroud
). I stumbled on to it looking for an alternate entrance into the hospital.

It's pretty much an entire unlabelled quest in terms of its content. Look for the arrows pointing to the entrance. Now I'm curious what other random stuff is hiding in the corners of random buildings.
