There has to be a more efficient way to turn junk into scrap, right? I'm just dumping it on the floor and spending 10 minutes scrapping a mountain of garbage.
LOL. You go to your workbench and press Y.

I go to my workbench and press the "transfer all junk" button. Inventory managed.
Just put it in the workbench. It auto-scraps when building shit.
Well I take 3 weapons and minimal meds. I leave base with 20-30 pounds maximum. 16 weapons sounds insane
I also just store my extra meds at base for when I need them.
Scavenging is an art. I guess lots of people don't care for it considering how many people mod carry weight.
I spend 10 minutes managing my inventory every few hours. That's already more than I'd like.
Uhh... wtf?! Are you not putting all your junk into the Workbench in your settlements? Are you still carrying every weapon under the sun? Are you not scaling back on things like grenades/mines/heavy food items?I increased my carry limit to 1000 and I'm still struggling with carrying capacity.

I think this is a misunderstanding which I have seen on Reddit etc. People suggested doing this as they believed that when an item is used when crafting it wouldn't store the 'extra' materials back in the Workbench. If I am not mistaken this thought is incorrect and in fact the extra materials will go back to your workbench (but may take a few minutes?)
If I can find the source i'll add it.
Can someone explain to me how power armor works?
Can I stash it at my safehouse?
Should I regularly be looking for better parts to attach, or is that pointless?
How do I ensure I don't lose it somewhere? I know it's on my mini-map - but only until I hop in a different one.
What if it breaks?
Etc. lol
Thoughts on scrapping weapons/armor versus selling early on (level 12)? Not sure how much caps play a role later into the game.
I've had no need to sell or buy anything just yet. I prbly have like 5k in caps. I guess it would be useful to buy some items to do crafting.
I scarp everything i am not using.
Stash it anywhere you like. Take the core out and it will not move ever.
There are much better parts for armor, so if you want more protection and abilities, improve it.
Keep it someplace memorable like your base. It wont move, trust me.
It never breaks completely. You can always repair each part.

Yeah that's also what I seem to be in the most short supply of. It's weird going from looking at things to sell in past games to now looking at them for their materials. Still not quite getting my brain to accept that change.I find leather hard to find, so Armor def gets scrapped.
Sounds good to me, thanks!I've had no need to sell or buy anything just yet. I prbly have like 5k in caps. I guess it would be useful to buy some items to do crafting.

Considering you can make a ton of purified water which sells for a lot I would suggest scrapping everything and then worry about caps later.
Have you actually tried using the components? You won't see them in the workshop when you try to transfer, but they should be available for use when crafting. – DCShannon
As far as I know. I believe that you'll just use the materials from another settlement so long as they're linked. So if you're in Sanctuary Hills and you wanna build say, a bench which requires 5 wood and 1 steel, in Tenpines Bluff it'll just take the wood and steel out of Sanctuary's workshop inventory that is, if you don't already have the materials in Tenpines' inventory.
What's your special?
How do I repair a part? At the power armor work bench thing?
And thanks!

That mission in Fallout 3 was bad ass!oh cool theres a late game Brotherhood quest to rebuild Sentinel Prime from Fallout 3
almost missed it, good thing im milking these factions as much as possible until the final choice
I created new headquarters just to get far away from Marcy... I should turn Sanctuary into a concentration camp just because of her whining.
When it comes to a settlement's defense does turret/guard post placement count? Or is just about getting the defense number equal to or greater than your food and water output combined?
Want to get food/water production up for adhesive but don't want to deal with having to rush to defend a settlement from raiders right now.
Anyone? Plz notice me senpai
Can you salvage a mod from weapons/armour you find, but don't want to use?
All right as some of you have seen me bitch about, I was looking for the green hood forever.
I've just encountered a game-breaking bug. Don't know what to do. The pipboy (and its interface) is invisible, I can hear the sounds, but I just can't see the interface/menus and the hand.
Furthermore the game believes that I'm still inside a power armor (even if I'm not actually inside one). It doesn't allow me to do certain actions, because it thinks I'm inside a power armor. If I go inside any power armor, then I can see the pipboy, but without a power armor the pipboy is invisible. Don't know what to do. My last save where there isn't this bug it's like 6 hours before. So I fear I will have to reload and lose two days of game time.
Does anybody have this bug? How did you solve it? I tried everything, quicksaving and reloading, changing from first person to third, opening computer terminals and so on. Nothing seems to work. I don't know if I should wait for a patch (and stop playing for a few weeks) and not play until then or lose 6 hours by reloading a previous save. Do you think we will have a patch soon? By next week or so? At least for these game-breaking bugs?
Last time I'm buying a bethesda game at release. Dogmeat has even disappeared; tried looking everywhere but it's just not there. But at least I can continue playing, so dogmeat missing doesn't bother me too much.
That's nice and all, but has that motherf@#$ stopped messing with your comic rack?
All right as some of you have seen me bitch about, I was looking for the green hood forever. It has stressed me out more than not being able to get the BOS Officer Uniform without making the whole faction hate me because only one guy has it and he stands in the middle of god damn everybody.
Now having gotten my complaining out of the way, here's what my character looks like. He'll stay relatively the same until end game except that I'll change the two arms into the black heavy combat armor variants, which essentially look like bulkier versions of what I currently have in the pic. I went ahead and took the pic with my two main weapons.
The sword is the unique sword with max damage, electric damage and a 50% bonus damage towards robots. I 1-shot killed a sentry with stealth. The mallet is rocket powered with energy damage and is especially amazing against big bosses. I 1-shot killed a deathclaw with it. Heck even the legendary deathclaw didn't give me much trouble (after a reload where I forgot to do critical damage to him haha).
I am two armor variants away from my end game look. So happy.
Also as a bonus here's a nice little surprise as I was investigating a building. He had to take a beary big poop.
Are you playing on PC? the UI not showing my be easy to fix with command inputs.
As far as doge. Did you send him to a settlement? I ran into telling him to not follow, and i just forgot. Had to go and retrace my steps to find him all happy waiting for me.

What armor is that?
Do you have any armour abilities that make you invisible? I have one that makes me invisible when I crouch and stand still and as a result I can't use my pipboy either when I'm crouched
I'm 45 hours in and I've never had to buy or sell anything.
Not sure how I feel about it to be honest.
