This game desperately needs a Keychain and Holotape pouch. I've dumped everything from my Misc item section that the game allows me, barring like 20 or so quest related items it won't let me remove, and it's still has some like 100 items since you can't drop any of the keys or holotapes. It makes going through the list for new holotapes to play or new letters/notes to read a huge pain. Especially since if either of those items are within a container you can't auto-play or read them as if they were in the open.

Well I take 3 weapons and minimal meds. I leave base with 20-30 pounds maximum. 16 weapons sounds insane

I also just store my extra meds at base for when I need them.

Scavenging is an art. I guess lots of people don't care for it considering how many people mod carry weight.

Yeah, I just carry enough weapons for what fills up my D-Pad hot keys. On the left I have my auto pistol, silenced pipe pistol and shotgun and on the right I have my go-to auto rifle, sniper rifle and my missile launcher/fat man. Top is for molotovs, grenades and mines and the bottom 3 are stims, radaways and radX.

Just really don't need more than that for any situation. This gives me tons of room to pick up junk in the field and a few weapons to sell/breakdown.

EDIT: gun mods also take up space. 1/2 pound each. A while ago I noticed I had like 30 of them I was carting around so now I have them stored.

I spend 10 minutes managing my inventory every few hours. That's already more than I'd like.

I think it's fun. Ever since Resident Evil 4.

I also think the carry weight is meant to give players stopping points. As you go back to base and unload your stuff, that gives you the perfect opportunity to save and quit to come back the next day.

I increased my carry limit to 1000 and I'm still struggling with carrying capacity.
Uhh... wtf?! Are you not putting all your junk into the Workbench in your settlements? Are you still carrying every weapon under the sun? Are you not scaling back on things like grenades/mines/heavy food items?

You've got more than enough carry capacity to raid a minimum of 4 locations before going back to empty out again.

There has to be a more efficient way to turn junk into scrap, right? I'm just dumping it on the floor and spending 10 minutes scrapping a mountain of garbage.

I think this is a misunderstanding which I have seen on Reddit etc. People suggested doing this as they believed that when an item is used when crafting it wouldn't store the 'extra' materials back in the Workbench. If I am not mistaken this thought is incorrect and in fact the extra materials will go back to your workbench (but may take a few minutes?)

If I can find the source i'll add it.

Can someone explain to me how power armor works?

Can I stash it at my safehouse?
Should I regularly be looking for better parts to attach, or is that pointless?
How do I ensure I don't lose it somewhere? I know it's on my mini-map - but only until I hop in a different one.
What if it breaks?
Etc. lol

Correct.

Thoughts on scrapping weapons/armor versus selling early on (level 12)? Not sure how much caps play a role later into the game.

Stash it anywhere you like. Take the core out and it will not move ever.

There are much better parts for armor, so if you want more protection and abilities, improve it.

Keep it someplace memorable like your base. It wont move, trust me.

It never breaks completely. You can always repair each part.

I've had no need to sell or buy anything just yet. I prbly have like 5k in caps. I guess it would be useful to buy some items to do crafting.

I scarp everything i am not using.

How do I repair a part? At the power armor work bench thing?

And thanks!

Yeah, my supply lines are totally bugged. I created a new one which made them all appear, but even that one doesn't work. Slept for 48 hours and can't get hold of my resources.

Assaultrons are officially the scariest motherfuckers in the entire game lol

also I'm finally going to boost the difficulty up to hard... essentially maxed out a few of my weapons with mods and all my enemies are going down in 1-2 shots.

Considering you can make a ton of purified water which sells for a lot I would suggest scrapping everything and then worry about caps later.

I find leather hard to find, so Armor def gets scrapped.
Yeah that's also what I seem to be in the most short supply of. It's weird going from looking at things to sell in past games to now looking at them for their materials. Still not quite getting my brain to accept that change.

Sounds good to me, thanks!

Done.

Have you actually tried using the components? You won't see them in the workshop when you try to transfer, but they should be available for use when crafting. – DCShannon
As far as I know. I believe that you'll just use the materials from another settlement so long as they're linked. So if you're in Sanctuary Hills and you wanna build say, a bench which requires 5 wood and 1 steel, in Tenpines Bluff it'll just take the wood and steel out of Sanctuary's workshop inventory that is, if you don't already have the materials in Tenpines' inventory.

I was so confused as to why I wasn't seeing the same items in the benches but when building I did share resources.

What's your special?

Starting:

S 6
P 3
E 3
C 2
I 1
A 5
L 8

Current:

S 11(+1 You're Special)(+1 training)(+1 Bobblehead)(+2 Grognak gear)
P 4 (+1 Bobblehead)
E 3
C 2
I 1
A 9(+1 Bobblehead)(+3 training)
L 8

Level 37. Just need to track down the Charisma and Luck Bobbleheads for Lone Wanderer and Four Leaf Clover.

Correct. Exit the power armor near the Power Armor stand, and hit Craft. It'll show you each part and on the lower left should be that part's stats including its health. There should be a button to repair. More advanced parts require more material to repair.

Note that the material cost of repairing something doesn't grow or shrink based on how damaged it is. A part with 49/50 health will take the same amount to repair as a part that is completely broken.

Also important, when you repair a completely broken part, don't forget to re-equip it onto the suit. When pieces break they're blown off the armor and unequipped. There's a button that will say Equip.

oh cool theres a late game Brotherhood quest to r
ebuild Sentinel Prime from Fallout 3
:D

almost missed it, good thing im milking these factions as much as possible until the final choice

Yeah that's also what I seem to be in the most short supply of. It's weird going from looking at things to sell in past games to now looking at them for their materials. Still not quite getting my brain to accept that change.

It really helps if you bookmark the material so you can tell if an item contains that you are looking for.

I created new headquarters just to get far away from Marcy... I should turn Sanctuary into a concentration camp just because of her whining.

When it comes to a settlement's defense does turret/guard post placement count? Or is just about getting the defense number equal to or greater than your food and water output combined?

Want to get food/water production up for adhesive but don't want to deal with having to rush to defend a settlement from raiders right now.

Anyone? Plz notice me senpai

It's insane to me that of all the main story/faction stuff I've only gotten up to meeting Nick Valentine and recapturing the Castle for the Minutemen (as in I haven't done any other faction stuff). Yet I'm like 50 hours in.

All right as some of you have seen me bitch about, I was looking for the green hood forever. It has stressed me out more than not being able to get the BOS Officer Uniform without making the whole faction hate me because only one guy has it and he stands in the middle of god damn everybody.

Now having gotten my complaining out of the way, here's what my character looks like. He'll stay relatively the same until end game except that I'll change the two arms into the black heavy combat armor variants, which essentially look like bulkier versions of what I currently have in the pic. I went ahead and took the pic with my two main weapons.

The sword is the unique sword with max damage, electric damage and a 50% bonus damage towards robots. I 1-shot killed a sentry with stealth. The mallet is rocket powered with energy damage and is especially amazing against big bosses. I 1-shot killed a deathclaw with it. Heck even the legendary deathclaw didn't give me much trouble (after a reload where I forgot to do critical damage to him haha).

I am two armor variants away from my end game look. So happy.

Also as a bonus here's a nice little surprise as I was investigating a building. He had to take a beary big poop.

I need help with a pretty late game quest. I looked some things up and it seems it's not triggering when it should? These are pretty spoilery so reader beware:

Can someone tell me when
Underground Undercover will continue after working with Father? I've gotten to the quest "Powering Up" and came back to the institute with no one coming up to me to tell me about progressing the plan to release all of the synths. When does it start up again?

The part that seems off is this from the Fallout 4 Wiki:
"After assisting Father in all quests up to the quest Powering Up , Z1-14 will send you a message." I've never gotten that message yet and it feels like if I continue I may fail the Underground Undercover quest.

I've just encountered a game-breaking bug. Don't know what to do. The pipboy (and its interface) is invisible, I can hear the sounds, but I just can't see the interface/menus and the hand.

Furthermore the game believes that I'm still inside a power armor (even if I'm not actually inside one). It doesn't allow me to do certain actions, because it thinks I'm inside a power armor. If I go inside any power armor, then I can see the pipboy, but without a power armor the pipboy is invisible. Don't know what to do. My last save where there isn't this bug it's like 6 hours before. So I fear I will have to reload and lose two days of game time.

Does anybody have this bug? How did you solve it? I tried everything, quicksaving and reloading, changing from first person to third, opening computer terminals and so on. Nothing seems to work. I don't know if I should wait for a patch (and stop playing for a few weeks) and not play until then or lose 6 hours by reloading a previous save. Do you think we will have a patch soon? By next week or so? At least for these game-breaking bugs?

I love the game but it's the last time I'm buying a bethesda game at release. My game is full of bugs: Dogmeat has disappeared; tried looking everywhere but it's just not there. But at least I can continue playing, so dogmeat missing doesn't bother me too much.

First time Fallout player here. I absolutely love this game and I am hooked. I am going to cancel my pre-order for Battlefront as thinking I will be playing this for the next couple of months. Originally I thought I would pick this up to hold me over for a week or two and I haven't even left the beginning area yet.

Are you playing on PC? the UI not showing my be easy to fix with command inputs.

As far as doge. Did you send him to a settlement? I ran into telling him to not follow, and i just forgot. Had to go and retrace my steps to find him all happy waiting for me.

That's nice and all, but has that motherf@#$ stopped messing with your comic rack?

I should have taken a picture haha

I actually came back from fighting Swan and a legendary deathclaw with my power armor, my guy was tired and just wanted to get some sleepy time. When he entered the cabin he noticed comic books all over the floor. Too tired to murder Deacon (because we all know it was that fuck) he went to sleep, woke up and didn't feel like murdering. Though I AM going to get rid of those comic book racks and just put a container of some sort. They don't fuck with shit inside containers.

Yes, I'm playing on pc. If anybody knows how to fix the UI and pipboy by consoles commands, it would be a life-saver.

About dogmeat, I'm sure I sent him to sanctuary, but it's just not there. I've looked everywhere in Sanctuary. Nearly spent an hour. I've also checked in other settlements just to be sure but not there either. But I remember clearly I sent him to sanctuary.

Do you have any armour abilities that make you invisible? I have one that makes me invisible when I crouch and stand still and as a result I can't use my pipboy either when I'm crouched

What armor is that?

My full set right now:

- Green/black BOS uniform variant
- Heavy leather chest piece
- Heavy leather right/left leg
- Sturdy combat armor right/left arm

And all of them are the shadowed look (aka why it's all black) and ultralight weight (I can still use it while sneaking and not get spotted).

I'll be switching to the heavy combat armor right/left arms once I find them and that should be the only thing that changes. Well unless I magically learn of a different way to get the BOS officer uniform.

Yo! I have a couple of probably silly questions but I'll ask anyway, spoiler free answers if possible

I've killed a couple of diamond city security guys but not actually been to diamond city yet, will this affect me in any way, will they be hostile at all?

and second how do I repair parts of my power armour?

Do you have any armour abilities that make you invisible? I have one that makes me invisible when I crouch and stand still and as a result I can't use my pipboy either when I'm crouched

No, no special armor piece that make me invisible. I've also tried going inside a power armor (so that I could see my UI again), removing all my clothes/armor, and then leaving the power armor, but the pipboy is still missing/invisible.

P.S.: ah I noticed that I can't run, even when I'm outside the power armor, my weapon is visible, but if I bring up my pipboy (when I'm outside power armo) not only my Pipboy is invisible but also the hand.

Can you not buy stuff from covenants shop anymore after you make it a settlement?

Pfft, has to be running the actual shop, nvm.

I'm assuming the shops inventory isn't around the shop anywhere? I scoured that place to get Justice, and I couldn't find it.

Settlement question. How much water/food/power/defense do you need per person?
Like how much of each should I have for a 16 person settlement?
What are the best ways to increase happiness?
