Gamespot: Yoshinori Ono talks DLC, Beta Woes and Xbox One Fans

So i've been out of the loop, and through reading some of the conflict going on in the early part of the thread, but I have a question. Are there any games where PC, XB, and PS4 all play together?

Only in the dumbest interpretation, he's clearly saying he wants PS3 to be an aspirational item, something a person desires and will do all they can to own one. Not 'lol, can't afford it? Try working harder, scrubs!'
The meaning to me is we're pushing ps4 as hard as possible please buy it if you wanna play our games.

Haha. Come on, folks. Ono's one of the most light hearted dudes in the industry. Some people are taking some throwaway comments to silly questions way too personally.

This is gold.

It's delicious

Ono was asked what do you have to say to SF fans on XB1. He said, you'll have to buy a PS4... nothing false, nothing underhanded, or misleading, nothing else to say really. I mean, what do you want him to say?

I think his comments came off kinda trololololo-ish, and a lot of X1 only owners are already pissed about SFV exclusivity, so the tone of that answer kinda stings. I guess if he had said the usual platitudes and PR speak of valuing those consumers and hoping they can be apart of this game's community, people wouldn't be as upset.

Personally, Ono seems like a silly guy trying to be funny. Don't get the vibe he meant it as a sick burn at all.

The last time a developer did this, it didn't turn out well
Dat passion letter from Crystal Dynamic in case you don't know

Should have seen the Xbox sub when the helldivers rep made a similar joke when someone asked her about playing with a friend on ps4.

Like seriously, I don't understand what folks expect when asking such a goofball question about an exclusive.

Yeah being all serious CEO type doesn't suit Ono. The comment is exactly what I would have expected him to say, and it really wasn't rude, especially when you consider English isn't his first language. If this came off as abrasive to some XB1 owners (the really sensitive, I need a hug ones like like the poster who immediately said they would not buy it), at least he can chalk it up to the language barrier :)

Do you not know Ono?

The usual pr would've had people still holding out hope for a xb1 version, while I 110% agree with you is just Ono being his silly and friendly self I'm glad hearts were snatched so people stop asking questions about a possible xb1 release.

At least he didn't sugarcoat it, I hate it when they act like they care about the other system's customers and try and make them happy, whilst telling them they aren't getting it.

The Sony fanboys are rabid in this topic. Never seen a more hypocritical group of fanboys. And this site is supposed to have standards. LOL

Fanboys? Lol I would get SFV if it was exclusive on wii u mind you I don't care for Nintendo but my love for SF outweighs petty first world problems. I just find it hilarious and amusing white knights of the console industry " I won't buy this on PC or PS4 more! Take that Ono" *falls ded

Donnow what's worst, the people who are taking way too seriously how Ono answered the question not clearly knowing the dude and how he usually is/acts, or the aggressive/childish responses to said people

Fuckin shitshow of a thread

The idea of earned extra content sounds perfect, but there is a lot of skepticism about it among my friends due to Capcom's super hyper ultra edition track record. If they deliver on that promise, then I think this game could have great legs as fence sitters opt to jump in after realizing they don't need to wait for a better edition.

Has anyone else felt or encountered such resistance regarding this policy?

It doesn't bother me at all but if anybody from square Enix or crystal dynamics said this (or even if the roles were just reversed) then I believe this thread would be a magnitude of pages larger :p

It's sort of like, "hey it doesn't affect me, what do I care? It's funny!"

keep comparing a timed exclusive that was announced as such vaguely, where the company was later forced to admit that it was coming to other consoles later with a game that has always been marketed as a console exclusive

It's actually the fact that they didn't outright say this that caused so much of the drama.

In theory it sounds awesome but I would like to know how many people unlocked all the titles and the Kanzuki estate during beta#2 so we can better have a better understanding of the market.

Smh at people getting mad because Ono gave a straight no BS answer. I prefer that a million times rather than an answer that leaves room for doubts.
Also, I look forward to the day we'll be able to open a thread about either SFV or RotTB and not mention the other at all. It's getting tiring.

Oh gosh there's so much irony in this post.

Honestly comments like this are probably the reason Ono is laughing at people.

Yeah, I really doubt we're getting another Capcom Fighter this gen. Maybe Marvel if they can get a deal going but I doubt they'd go for anything else due to risk and cutting the user base.

If I were in his shoes I'd say that question has been answered and left it at that.

I kind of doubt it. Arika hasn't used any of those characters in ages, I don't think Capcom has bothered. Karin is owned by the mangaka who created her and he said they could get her if they wanted but they still waited ages despite demand.

Ex characters probably haven't gotten as much demand, but to be fair I kind of doubt any of the polls included them either.

Why should he be laughing? Capcom have a whole history of changing their minds.

It's the former. This is the guy they're going after.

What SE/CD said was worse because they completely dissembled. Sony and Capcom have been upfront from the beginning on the project. Your hypothetical scenario is just an attempt at creating hypocrisy, which doesn't prove anything even if it were true, where it doesn't exist.

Why should he be laughing? Capcom have a whole history of changing their minds.

Does Capcom have a whole history of breaking contract?

Ono clearly didn't attend the Redmond, WA school of PR.

We have a console for people who don't want RotTR on the Xbox One, and it's called the Xbox 360.

Indeed.

I wish a Sqeenix dev would have said the same about ROTR.
It would have been pandemonium in these parts.

If they said it, it would have been lying.

So they tried to say something similar, but since they couldn't outright say, "The only way you can play this game is on a microsoft console," people wanted them to stop bullshitting.

It's hilarious how SF5 and Tomb Raider continue to be compared when the situations aren't comparable.

If SE had come out at the announcement and said, "If you want to play Tomb Raider on PS4, wait a year." There would have been a lot less drama instead of trying to hide behind the wording of "holiday exclusive" or whatever it was.
