Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I read that entire article waiting for some actual information that most didn't already innately realize about matchmaking. It wasn't in that article. He actually didn't discuss anything about matchmaking at all other than the "we want it to launch smoothly" spiel you'd expect.

Basically, I am assuming matches that happen with people on different platforms will be completely random, and that you can't actually create rooms and invite specific people that are not on your same platform. Is that right? Never played a cross platform game before, but I can't imagine a Steam account mingling with a PSN ID.

As the messenger: sorry about that. I was mostly quoting the article's title and bullet points to be honest (since my interest was mostly in the arcade release section).

Great to see that we're having some actual discussion going on again though. This thread was like a ghost town for several days.

Some of you are making some good points about Capcom's (lack of) interest in an arcade release, especially in light of "quick-to-console" SFIV and "arcade-no-show" MvC3 and in light of their big plans with the Fighters Network hub and console-driven Capcom Cup tournaments.

Maybe I'm just holding on to the past a bit too much in terms of feeling bummed out for the Japanese fanbase; heck I personally will never play it in arcades myself actually. Still, it's always easy to stop doing something and moving away from tradition, but it's harder to see what the long term effects of that will be. Moving SF away from arcades, while understandable and even smart from a business perspective and while not a practical problem for the majority of players, still amounts to a loss of some kind and that saddens me a bit.

That said, let's hope we'll get some actual news soon though. Bring on more details on modes, Fan/the game's Boss and the remaining stages + stage transitions/weather effects!

Back on stages: I'm hoping for 3 more so that we'll have 11 + 1 training stage = 12 total (which seems like a decent total number). Rashid's possibly teased Dubai/desert/airport stage could be one of them, as could be the one for Bison and possibly Necalli (as they both have art not yet found in stages, similar to Rashid) and I'm guessing Fan will also have his own stage like Laura does (or share one with Bison, unless Bison and Necalli share one).

CFN account covers that. Other cross platform games get sround that hurdle by having a unique ID for that game as well.

A look at a new stage... like we haven't had enough old temples in Street Fighter

Eh. It's not too surprising, though, at least. I mean, we already had a Japan stage, but it's explicitly just Karin's house. I guess you could make an argument as to why it'd be Mika's stage, but it'd be kind of weird if that was Ryu's stage, too, let alone Akuma's if he ever shows back up. Hopefully it'll look good in motion.

Honestly, I'm still just waiting for the Boxing/Wrestling Ring stage.

There's nothing wrong with a temple stage, but they should at least embrace better art design as seen in the SFA2 days. SFA2 grass field or Ryu stage or SF3 Ryu Temple stage versus that? It's not even fair.

Ryu's stages should be more like this.

I really want that Ryu stage from Alpha 2.

Like they keep showing weather and time and BS , but every fking stage has the same weather.
I want some cool looking Snow,Desert or Rain stages , show us dat Unreal/PS4 powaah.

The lack of an obvious rain stage with thunder and lightning going off in the background makes me shake my head. As it is, Tekken 7 stages are impressive.

Tekken just pours salt in the wound constantly with amazing stages, too.

I really hope Fan's design is crazy and out-there. I'd be really disappointed if the last character from the main roster to be revealed just has some boring ass plain design.

The secret bosses haven't leaked yet.

Damn, watching those awesome old stages makes me sad for the modern ones everytime.

I have to say, if you look at the stages from Third Strike that have people the background, they look like garbage. The Alpha series has a similar problem, despite a couple of stages where the background characters look fairly decent (lets face it, the Alpha series had the best stages). The best looking stages almost always have no spectators. Maybe they should take them out for SFV? Or at least give us the option to remove them? The stages would look MUCH better for it.

I'd have to double check, but that temple might actually be the same one as the one on the left of Karin's stage, but just shown by itself. There is such a structure + statue there as well at least.

I'd rather have them do another US stage if they have to double up on a country tbh, especially since there will be quite a few US combatants in total if you include the DLC people. And apart from a desert/airport one (Rashid) and South American temple/ruin one (Necalli) I'm also hoping for a more wild nature (i.e. jungle) stage at some point now that the Brazil one is more urban (like one set in Indonesia/Malaysia for the hopefully yet to be announced season 2 The Raid inspired Pencak Silat using newcomer ;-) )

I definitely think Capcom will want a big Fight Money sink on Day 1, and that will probably be an extra unlockable character. Something like Urien as the boss character or even a secret boss character like Akuma.

Agreed, but i think it will be the full set of first alt. costumes. Like it will include beard Ryu for the people who didn't preorder, but it'll have one for everyone.

Because i don't imagine it will launch with alt costumes for only four characters and nothing for the rest.

We're definitely getting a DLC character within the first few weeks from launch. If Capcom are sticking to their new character every 2 months plan, it lines up perfectly for the 6th character to release in December just before the year is out.

I can't be the only one that thinks that Urien will be the final boss but he will not be playable for the first two months, right?

Waiting two months means they'll be cramming 6 characters into 8 months. I think it's more likely we get Urien as a boss and a DLC character a few weeks later. I'd say he would be launch DLC but Capcom got a lot of backlash over SFxT's DLC.

For the people guessing hidden bosses, Capcom has repeatedly stated there will be only 16 at launch and 22 by the end of 2016, leaving no room for secret characters. Dahlgren said that they aren't doing hidden characters this time around.

They said they were going to do alts that one could buy with Fight Money which are probably classic costumes. That could be a big sink.

While a bit of a bummer indeed (the lack of secret bosses), getting Urien as the final, initally unplayable boss would go a long way to make up for that for me personally. Both Necalli and Bison would be lacklustre boss candidates, as would Fan be potentially, going by his dialogue and ties to Bison.

So long as whoever is the boss isn't as cheap as Seth circa original SFIV.
What a nightmare...

Fingers crossed Urien is the boss though... And Ibuki makes it into the game before EVO...

So does anyone want to guess the order for the first wave of DLC characters? I'm going with:

1. Urien
2. Balrog
3. Juri
4. Ibuki
5. Guile
6. Alex

As much as it pains me to put Alex last I just don't expect to see him for a while, unfortunately. I could be wrong though.

I hope Urien has a slightly animated dick bulge. Like you can see movement when he swings around. I feel like it would add to the immersion of the game personally.

Didn't realize how nasty Mika could be in the corner
In the beta I faced a really high ranked player (he was top 20) and I literally could not move. His Mika just got me to the corner and dominated me. I might as well have put the controller down and let it happen.

Hey. At least him and Urien made it. As long as they're in the game, I can wait. ^_^

But yeah, it probably might take awhile.

Why do people want Urien as a boss? He's second-rate Fucciboi to Gill. Bison and Necaili make far more sense.

In my case I want him instead of those other two because story-wise it would be cool to see him rise to power (by crushing Bison and Shadaloo perhaps) only to have to bow to Gill again by the time the era of III rolls around. Urien as boss would also follow the boss patern set by the transition from SF I to II, where Sagat went from being the final boss to being Bison's most powerful second in command. Urien would then fully be to Gill as Sagat is to Bison, in other words.

(Also, having Bison as boss again would complete suck all the unique flavoring out of this new SF installment imo, at least narratively, while Necalli simply is too tame looking for me to be sufficiently intimidating as a boss, even in Super Saiyan mode.)

Forgot my DLC order:

1. Urien (if he indeed is the boss. Although they could save him for the final spot as well for that reason, in order to keep the Com version feel unique and fresh for a while longer.)
2. Balrog
3. Guile
4. Juri
5. Ibuki
6. Alex (knowing my luck, my most wanted character will defintely be last...unless Urien is pushed to this spot.)

what if the boss is nash

I did actually consider this for some time and it would be a cool trick they'd pull on us, i.e. revealing the boss as one of the first characters and making him a modified veteran to boot. However, my gut feeling is that he is more of a henchmen than a boss. As such he would make for a cool subboss for Urien actually. (Man, I wish they'd have the resources to have 4 bosses again like in II! One boss always seemed to few to me honestly.)
