I don't get the image in the first tweet.

Nobody is talking about it not being released at retail, because the sales projections for something like this would be so low that most retail chains would not bother with it. They are talking about selling import copies that english language players can comprehend. Assuming there is much to comprehend. I agree with the argument in principal, this is just an exceedingly stupid test case. Why is play asia even made about this? Wouldn't it not being released here help them saleswise?
I highly doubt whoever was in charge of those tweets was anything more then a low level employee who in no way shape or form holds any stake in the company.
Im not the one who said it actually.I don't think how I choose to spend my money is any of your business. My concern is your qualifying who is an "importer", like their response to this somehow proves they don't.
Hey ho. Long time Play-Asia customer. Probably not ordering anything after this unless they issue an apology for supporting a hate group. That is all.
Considering the way it's now used by noted jackasses to try and shutdown any sort of discussion regarding gender/sexuality/etc, yeah, sure, that's reason enough for people to not want to engage in business with the kind of company that is fine with the people managing their social presence using that language.Do people really get that mad over the term "SJW" to the point of not using an online retailer anymore?
The initial tweets were in response to people using the #GG hashtag asking them about it, which isn't necessarily supporting said hate group but they do go on to use the same kind of language, soWhile what they said was really stupid, I didn't see them actively supporting any hate groups. Did I miss something?

I'm convinced that KT's refusal to release the game is a big marketing campaign to drum up hype for the game...
what term should people use then? i agree that the term itself is derogatory and maybe juvenile but it refers to a clear cultural movement of young people who are very concerned with identity politics. it needs some sort of name.
Try againIm not the one who said it actually.
Yea i legit believe that. Theres no way something like that made u go "o never again"
I'm convinced that KT's refusal to release the game is a big marketing campaign to drum up hype for the game...
SJW is gamergate (the hate group in question) coded language. so yes, you did miss something. While what they said was really stupid, I didn't see them actively supporting any hate groups. Did I miss something?
To all the people talking about never shopping from Play-Asia again SOLELY because of the tweets while you are certainly entitled to do as you please don't you think its a bit extreme?

While stupid there have been MANY cases of employees from companies, especially western ones making stupid posts on social media that you read about all the time on gaf all of which were made with higher ups unaware or made with a personal agenda.
Those of you who this is the tipping point I suggest waiting to see what kind of reply if any comes in the near future because there's a huge chance the higher ups aren't even aware of said tweets and if it comes that nothing happens or the stance is maintained or continued then feel free to boycott away.

Still didn't say it outrighy my point stands. XP try againTry again
I get that their tweet isn't exactly professional or the way to address the situation, however I'm really not understanding what has people calling this some form of cop out. I mean lets be real. Releasing a game like this, which is undeniably more sexualised than the DOA main series, in this day and age is going to be a bit different. DOA5 happened a good few years ago and in those few years a lot has changed.
I think a more professional way to get the point across would have been to say that they fear the backlash may outweigh the profits, which honestly it probably will. This game was never going to sell gangbusters but it will be ridiculed for the tone. This is fine, the problem for the company comes after as this often then transcends into being ganged upon on Twitter. (I'd like to clarify that can happen on any topic, I'm not specifically singling out the issue at hand and it can come from either side of the argument)
I don't think it's hard to imagine that the bad PR could easily outweigh the benefit of what little sales it would have had. It's just the world we live in now where one person becoming offended then becomes 1000, then 10,000. I'm not trying to say anyone is right or wrong either, I try to stay out of these particular topics as it's hard to voice any form of opinion since saying anything tends to get you bundled into one of two groups. However I can completely understand why they wouldn't want to release this in the west. It would undoubtedly come at a cost and it seems the team have decided the cost isn't worth it.

Human, probably.Just curious, what is the "polite term" designating SJW?
This is probably what they're doing.
Was Gamergate's existence in question?
...I'm sure someone somewhere has claimed that SJWs invented Gamergate as a publicity stunt.

Everything I've seen regarding this game looks harmless. But people nowadays are way to ready to charge full riot mode on something they don't like. More than a few people have been targeted by social media outrage campaigns, as we're all aware.
I think they're in the wrong for not having a western release, although it is clearly still available to purchase in English regardless.
I think the easy and lazy response is to get mad at these supposed people who are supposedly stopping a western release, simply because they have an opinion about sexualization of women in video games. Personally I am 100% okay with the content of this game I have seen so far. Women in bikinis is offensive? Don't go to the beach then. Might get offended really fast. But to blame those people who find issue... nah. We know who is in control here. No one is forcing their hands, I think.

Anyone surprised by this is blind to the tone shift in social media against games like these. I'm happy places like Play-Asia exists to accomodate for the actual fans.
But this one seems to be pushing it even further, more realistic graphics, VR and now with Loli type characters etc. Add the fact that people want better representation of females in gaming, it could just be the tipping point.

I don't think it's extreme at all. There are a lot of alternatives, that don't post dumb stuff on social media, and who offer lower prices. Such is the free marketTo all the people talking about never shopping from Play-Asia again SOLELY because of the tweets while you are certainly entitled to do as you please don't you think its a bit extreme?
That is absolutely hysterical. Personally after thinking about it more and more, I doubt it has anything to do with that and more so that the last game didn't sell as well as they would've hoped. I mean, I could be wrong. But it's not like everything that comes out has triggered someone or a group of people. However, it's kind of sad because I think we're reaching a point where I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. I'm not a fan of the series at all, but why not just not buy it or support it rather than ranting about it and trying to ruin it for the fans. I'm really hoping that doesn't become a common practice, especially for video games.
I don't think it needs a term at all. it's shitty and dismissive no matter what you come up with. and it's all imaginary in this case because no one seems to care about this game. certainly not enough to have a social media campaign or anything.
Eh, no big loss. I'm still waiting for Tecmo to announce the "all girls included, we promise" edition.
Just curious, what is the "polite term" designating SJW?

the term SJW existed before GG but then GG started using it in unironically and so here we are today with a derogatory term
I imagine nobody bought from sony after they told fans to get another job. Or Microsofts we have a product for people with no internet crap. Fallout being buggy mess had to make people go i wont buy this anymore. Or how about all the low content AAA releases. Not saying people are wrong just find it funny something like a tweet can set that reaction off
almost certainlyMeh, I mean are they wrong?
See, this is what I mean. DOAX is comparatively super tame, yet no one burned down those developers.Just this year I have played Senran Kagura 2, Dungeon Travelers 2 and Oneechanbara. All utterly shameless, all with completely quiet releases.
No they aren't wrong at all but it seems to be the way they worded it thats upsetting people. I dont keep up with that SJW stuff so i judging by responses guess people hate that specific term. Eh understandable i guess. I just want doax3Meh, I mean are they wrong?
I don't really care never played a DOA Volleyball whateverthefuck game, if I need to jerk off I have real porn to manage that. But, I'm not really sure why people get so upset over the series at least the game doesn't try to hide what it is. If a gaming company wants to basically release video game porn to men then let them, not really a controversy to me.
That said, I do find those tweets hilarious. "Silly Western fools, thanks to you liberal crusaders none of you will get to enjoy wonderful softcore beach volleyball video game titty porn. FOOLS!"
Boycott Play-Asia for this terrible display of misogyny.
Absolute trash company.
