Yeah, I never understood why Gohan didn't use SSJ2 with his "Ultimate Form" - the Super Saiyan transformations are just multipliers on the base power level after all. The Elder Kai unlock allowed him to use everything in base form - he didn't have to transform and thus suffer a drain on his power supply. But what if he actually did add multiplication effect of the Saiyan transformation on top of it?

Well...

Daizenshuu 2 states that Gohan's dormant power is bottomless. Daizenshuu 2 also states that after his potential was released, Gohan is still capable of becoming a Super Saiyan, but even without utilizing the form he surpasses Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks in power, if Ultimate Gohan was to become a Super Saiyan his power would likely rise to levels above even Super Buu (Gohan, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks absorbed).

It is stated in the Dragon Ball GT Perfect Files that Gohan continued to train in the years following the Buu Saga and the end of Dragon Ball Z to Dragon Ball GT, suggesting he got stronger than he previously was.

You dont just have these hype kids that easily obtained super saiyan,fuse than achieve something their older brother and father couldn't achieve(ss3) than sideline the heck out of them. Yes it's at odds with with the daizenshuu says and If the daizenshuu is actually accurate and Gohan could've gone Super Saiyan then I would call that entire fight a plot hole.

It's impossible to reconcile why he wouldn't have gone Super Saiyan when Buu was beating the breaks off him.

It is, and man, it'd be an easy as fuck show to write a plot for. It'd also sell loads of cards, too, and give Bamco a reason to localize the 3DS game and the cards.

You need new shit to get new merch. I'm pretty sure that's why Goku and Vegeta got new get-ups in Resurrection F. No one's going to buy figures of shit they already own, that's why Kai was initially cancelled after getting pretty consistently decent ratings - everyone already owns figures for Super Saiyan 3 Goku in his normal gi, but check out this whole Super Saiyan God thing! And this Goku has a new gi he got from a new guy! Don't have that yet!

I mean, Kai was so bad about merchandising that some companies were taking their old Z products and rereleasing them under Kai lines, completely unchanged. Gashapon in particular was super bad about it.

I might have to agree. Gohan's hair style in SSJ1 and 2 don't have any noticeable differences, if any. The first time he goes SSJ2 in the Buu saga, there is lightning, and while fighting Dabura, there are none, while Goku and Vegeta have lightning around them during their fight, so this wouldn't be a case of Toriyama forgot.

Biggest piece of evidence is when Gohan and Supreme Kai go down into the ship when Goku is about to fight Vegeta and Goku tells Gohan, "Get angry, Gohan. Remember when you got angry against Cell, and drew forth all of your strength? If you do that again, no one can beat you. No one!" Didn't do that against Dabura if Goku had to remind Gohan.

Gohan did not master SSJ2 and only activated it twice before the Buu saga, both times are in the Cell games (First activation and when Cell comes back), and had a 7 year gap before using it again.

That rule was only ever mentioned for the wish to bring back everyone ever killed by Freeza and his men. It sounded like it was due to the high number of people being brought back, rather than a general limitation on the number of wishes. Of course, the wording didn't make it completely clear either way, leaving space for disagreements about. Personally, I think if it were supposed to be a general rule, it'd have come up at some other time.

I don't think that's his actual body, although some people will disagree, like debated a few pages back. Still, we see that he's resurrected in pieces, rather than in the cyborg form seen in hell. If it were his body, that shouldn't have happened.

It was made pretty clear when he was revived that what you see in the hell scene isn't actually his body, his body was still in pieces.
