Do you like the name "NX" or do you think Nintendo should change it?

The Wii was given the codename 'Revolution' and at the time a lot of people became quite fond of that as a name. Then when they revealed it was to be called the Wii a lot of people said 'Revolution' was the superior name

Since Nintendo revealed they were working on a new console, under the codename NX, it's generally been refereed to as that

How would you feel if the new system was simply called the Nintendo NX?

Do you think that's a good name? A bad name? Why?

Does anyone think they should keep the "Wii" name?
The Thwii maybe?

What do you think, GAF?

Edit:

Also we all know NX is a codename (which it says in the OP anyway) and they do always change them in the end, but the thread is asking if you like the name NX for the next system

I think it's a decent name, if that was the final name I'd be pretty happy, I was curious as to what others thought

Edit 2:

Without bothering to Google sourced info...

The codename for the DS was the DS.
In development it stood for "Developer System" (or something like that), but they liked the sound of it and changed the meaning to "Dual Screen" for the official naming.

That's mainly for those saying they 100% will change the name from NX so the discussion is pointless

Edit 3:

Bumping my own thread from last November

Now we're getting closer to the NX reveal, do you still think Nintendo will go with another name?

If they reveal the system in September 2016 to Launch in March 2017 does that give them enough time to put the new name out there?

Do you still like NX? Is it a good name for the system? Should they just keep it at this point?

I think it's a great, clean name that describes the concept (Nintendo across multiple platforms) and they should keep it

but they'll probably end up calling it New Wii U+

It's only a code name. Of course they will change it.

To "Wii U Too".

NX may remain as the architecture/OS name, but the actual hardwares will probably feature a (hopefully) distinctive name, based on their form factor.

Is it weird that more and more lately, I've been seeing the name as N(intendo) "Cross" versus NX?

Sells the concept fairly well, but I'll wait for the final name.

Nah it's too obviously a code name, it's bland and impersonal. Out of context NX could be a phone, or a bike, or a laser printer, anything actually.
Not that Wii or Xbox are great, but at least they're unique and people can associate them to the product.

I still remember the fallout from Revolution -> Wii. I like NX, but I've learned not to get attached to hardware codenames.

They should call it the "Wii Understand" and "Wii Understand DS"

I don't mind the name 'NX' but I don't think it's very informative or memorable (EDIT - mind you, I would have said the same about the DS so I guess that proves the name doesn't matter much at all). And it's a code name, so of course it will change.

They'll probably call the next home console something stupid like 'New' Wii Too.

They should call it the "Wii Understand" and "Wii Understand DS"

'Wiise Understand'

I hope it ends up bein more in the vein of NES, SNES, N64, game boy, and ds. Hopefully it doesn't end up being a game cube, Wii, 3ds, Wii u situation. I personally thing NX is fine. Sounds futuristic and sleek which I hope the console is since it's taking a page out of apples similar architecture book.

NX is just a code name like Project Reality (N64), Dolphin (Game Cube), Revolution (Wii) and Project Cafe (Wii-U). No doubt they have an official name planed for it.

Nintendo NX sounds like another handheld or mobile device.
I haven't been following it, but I'm assuming it'll be a console... so yes, I think it should be changed.

I also think the 'Wii' branding has run its course.

Retro-gaming is making a big move back, so maybe Nintendo should play into that?
I liked the Nintendo/Super Nintendo/Nintendo 64 trifecta, so I was a little disappointed with Gamecube and Wii after that. A much younger version of myself would have loved a 'Ultra Nintendo (Entertainment System)', but even with retro and nostalgia making a comeback that name would still feel pretty dated.

Still... yeah... I think I'd like it. :p

I think it's the first Nintendo codename that could actually be used.
It sounds modern and edgy.

Thry should put the N in blue amd the X is black or dark grey.

Wii was called "Revolution"? Thank god they changed the name to Wii, and I thought I'd never say that...

NX sounds fine though, whatever it's supposed to be acronym of. I just hope they won't end up calling the system/platform "Nintendo Cross" or something stupid.

Surely, that's a code name and they will change it. I think they felt the sting of "Wii U" hard enough to consider better naming of the NX once released.
