I'm already bracing for the inevitable scenario in which Wakanda is just another recovering African hellhole and Black Panther some kind of revolutionary leader.

Because of course, a highly advanced African country couldn't be feasible in the MCU, where aliens walk among us, entire biomechanical bodies can be printed and Heimdall is black.

Don't. Fuck. With. Me. Marvel.

That would go against everything Fiege said when he unveiled the Black Panther teaser at the Marvel Movie day last year.

People keep posting that Cap and Bucky "beatdown" against Iron Man, but honestly it just comes across as so silly to me. These are two guys punching a metal suit with their bare fists, up against a guy who could probably take them down with a single blast to the face. In a real fight, do you have any idea how much damage you do to your knuckles just punching another normal human being? Now times that damage by 100 when you're punching a dude in an iron suit. It's like two dudes punching a concrete wall over and over again.

I think too much about these things, I guess is what I'm saying.

Isn't that the point?

I mean they knock Tony down to one knee, but the two of them aren't exactly doing much damage. And Tony's clearly holding back - he could kill them with ease, but that's not his style in 'friendly' fights.

I don't think they'll fuck it up to be honest. I figure they're going to show a super advanced country that's such a closely guarded secret that nobody knows about it, like it should be.
So.

Do you think Iron Man wins this time too?
Honestly I'm hoping everybody "loses". It's time for Marvel's Empire Strikes Back.

They're not regular humans though, and Bucky has a metal arm. In the trailer, Bucky only lands one punch with his right (non-metal) arm. Everything else is metal arm and shield bashing.

I do agree that Tony should be able to repulsor-blast the hell out of them though. Perhaps they're going with the old "he's holding back"?

#TEAMCAP!

Everyone keeps saying it makes Cap look like the villain but it's obvious(and said in the trailer) that he doesn't think they'll give Bucky a fair chance and that they're just going to kill him.

Iron Man is especially going to be the worst person involved because his opinion is already biased due to WS's involvement with his father.

Black Panther looks like a Power Ranger.

hope we get a scene where Stark tries to use his blasters on Cap but it gets deflected by the shield.

As opposed to Cap's nonbias opinion on Bucky.

They are both going to be portrayed as being well-meaning both ultimately wrong, and someone else will end up being the bigger threat. I doubt it will be like in the comics where it was Iron Man who was pretty much in the wrong.

Watched it early this morning but haven't had time to react, so:

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

We are doing this, aren't we?

Russos still got it

I like the subtle rumble of the camera with that drop kick.

Word is that the next Thor movie is actually a Thor Hulk buddy movie. How awesome is that?
Using sequels as hidden movies for other heroes would be the next-best thing.

Wait, who's side is Jessica on?
Jack
Daniel

"Take that, cracka!"
If only he did that to Whiplash.

Real reason why they fighting.
I'm anticipating that meme to return in full force.

So what side is Thanos on?
Death's.

That is being used in the Jessica Jones thread, isn't it?

The action, Black Panther, the tag-team fight...

Hehehehe.

Hopefully this is something that is simply corrected in Infinity War simply by the nature of the story. You can bet your ass that Thanos is gonna have a Chitauri army at his back but those will be dealt with by the lower level heroes and just background dressing while the main dudes lose to Thanos.
What? No, EVERYONE eventually must lose to Thanos.

Probably, unless he's too busy working on Uncharted 4.
Whoa, what?

God, everything about that movie was great. I'm definitely watching it again later today.
Shit, maybe I should take to the Thanksgiving gathering.

One thing I would like to add to this is , with regards to Cap is a lot of people who weren't around during that time (all of us) who are US citizens or otherwise like to project our assumptions about that time onto Captain America. A few interviews with Joe Simon and Jack Kirby reveal the true climate of the nation the character was released into. A country that was over 60 percent against the war, with no standing army, and ranked 18th or so in the world military scene and just coming out of a Great Depression. Fully segregated , in most places legal to terrorize african americans with little or no legal action taken, in many cases it could be put in the newspaper what would happen. The country was divided in any way you wanna look at it.

Furthermore, this was a USA that pioneered the Eugenics movement that was adopted by Nazi Germany and carried out to its logical conclusion. The USA that had Adolf Hitler as Time man of the year a few years before we got into the war, that had arbitrary fitness and sterilization laws in almost all 50 states, which means Steven Rogers would've never been born had he been the 2nd or 3rd sickly child. This is a USA that allowed and watched violence for profit and sold money and funded Lennin, and Hitler even during the war. Yes that Bush was found guilty of funding the enemy while his son fought in WWII. We later elected two of his children into the office of the President (hey ...at this point even the Red Skull has been in US government)

When this character debuted with a star spangled hero punching hitler in the mouth it caused such an outrage Mayor Laguardia(yes the airport one) had to get police escort for Kirby and Simon due to the backlash from isolationist groups.

So while it may be the popular thing to assume Cap is a GO GO USA freedom bombs propaganda tool , he actually predates the war and was created as a polemic against Nazi Germany's polices on the value of human LIFE, leading up to USA's involvement in the war.

His appearance being purposely modeled after those stupid uberman posters (blond hair blue eyes) , his moral center being an extrapolation of rights being inalienable and SELF evident (not justified by men or governments inherent to all men), his fighting ability being the embodiment of a bad ass dude from kirby's neighborhood where you had to learn to fight (Apparently no one could beat him even if they ganged up on him), and his heart an embodiment of simon and kirby growing up hard where you had to hussle, post depression.

I think externally many have been inspired by Cap and the whole great patriotic hero archetype, but there is only one Steven Rogers who is a truly interesting creation by two of the all time greats in comics creators. Captain America..is Steven Rogers..when you take a second to think about that.

back to the hype.
...well...I always hoped Cap alway viewed the "Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness" idea was a universal one then just propaganda.

People will be awed by Panther.

Wakanda is coming
The amount of racism that is going to be flurried over though...fuck.

That's how Civil War comics went so they'll probs do a switch with him just like the comics.

Of course Cap is biased but that's what is pushing him to help his friend have a fair chance and there's nothing wrong with that. Cap has always been about justice and to him it's not right to just kill someone without a proper chance to defend themselves.

I'm not completely opposed to Iron Man's view btw. I just think his opinion on Bucky isn't the greatest because he probably won't view his actions fairly.

Why are we acting like Cap and Bucky are two randos that got a lucky shot in?

Also Steve Rogers is the greatest human to ever live so if course #TeamCap.

At least the interesting thing here is that it will be a lot easier to make Tony's decisions more sympathetic here since he was directly involved and at fault of the event that most likely caused this to happen (Ultron) and Cap's decision in addition to Bucky makes sense because he probably doesn't trust the government/shield to the right thing after Cap 2. Should feel more organic than in the comics, I think.

You know what? I may still be Team Captain, but hearing those last lines in the trailer and Iron Man saying, "So was I" made me feel bad for IM more than the whole Civil War storyline. That one line more than an whole comic event.

Very happy they are only loosely adapting the Civil War storyline.

Can't stand the guy next to the bottom left corner on the right. This guy basically admitted that he doesn't watch many movies (unless it's anime) and mainly watches the trailers to live action movies. He's a poser.
I havent seen that and I can tell you they all are douchebags.

So like a lot of people in this forum.

Akasan? He's a good guy. He watches a lot of television and is mostly interested in Marvel movies (having seen AoU quite a few times). He even uses the AoU music in his intros.
