Ive heard opinions all over the place with this, it most def has a story and peole who have done impressions are saying that there is one and that at a certain point in the game is when it gets really engaging, it might not be super linear but a story is there, iits just that they made the world more compliment it, you wont find things out in the story in the affinity quests for instance, I also heard that the the story is more character driven rather than plot driven because of the focus on affinity quests. The game wants you to love its characters.
Yeah, that's basically what I've heard. Not that there isn't a story, but if you go in expecting a narrative like Xenoblade, Xenogears, or Xenosaga, you're gonna have a bad time, because it's not on that level at all, and is much more world and character focused.
