Mad Catz Tournament Edition 2, it's an arcade stick.Neo what is a TE2????
On-topic, I'm definitely gonna go with Shulk as my character's voice. It's either him or Joseph Joestar/Numbuh 1.

Some RPGs have mechanics where you lose either items or money when you die. WoW for example had you lose 10% of your gold.
I would assume the risk of losing the skell is a counterbalance.
Don't you also get less XP if you use a Spirit Healer?I don't believe WoW has ever had a penalty as stiff as losing gold. You take durability damage to your weapons, that's it. It costs money to repair them, but you don't need to spend it immediately.
The GameXplain video review was great, and long ~20 minutes. They praised the story and gave concrete details, not spoilers, why its good. Apparently it has some pretty major themes and you get to expeirence as much or as little of it as you choose to engage in it.
I'm pretty sure this is not a turn based JRPG.
With the possible exception of Final Fantasy 12, Xenoblade & Xenoblade X don't really play like any other JRPG. They're basically offline MMORPGs (although this one has some online options).
do you really have to ask?
Don't you also get less XP if you use a Spirit Healer?
That was it. I remember there was some BS for using a Healer.Nope. Items take 75% durability damage and you have 75% reduced stats for 10 minutes.
I'm a traditional JRPG fan, really like games like FFVII, Golden Suns, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound etc. but still like Xenoblade even more than those. Didn't know that'd happen, but it did. I think the game reminded me a bit of Secret of Mana in a way that it's basically real time, but you still can't just smash a button to attack. And Secret of Mana is one of the best RPGs ever IMO.Thanks for the feedback. Probably not for the traditional JRPG fan then.
I'm gonna misa the British voices. Alley Oop
Otero is easily IGN's best reviewer. I don't know why you people hate on him so much. He actually internally fought for the Splatoon re-review that people asked for.
He still hasn't found a Skell, he thinks it's up Death Mountain.
Thanks for the feedback. Probably not for the traditional JRPG fan then.

These reviewers slamming the story - remember they had to cram it down their throats for review in a short time span...
Your lost I guess

at the very least Shulk and Fiora are choices for your character's VAI'm gonna misa the British voices. Alley Oop
After the middling scores for the EU and JPN releases I had my doubts about this game, but everything sounds awesome. I wonder if modification (other than clothing) was made to the game?

I wish Melia was an option as well (like in the Japanese version, if I recall correctly), but I guess Doctor Who took up much of her voice actress' time.at the very least Shulk and Fiora are choices for your character's VA

Dang. So it seems like the concensus is that the quests are repetitive? Was hoping that the gameplay would be more compelling than what the reviews I've read are saying...
It’s a game that understands the importance of rewarding players for their personal investment, and it makes sure that, no matter how convoluted its design, no matter how lengthy its tangential content, the payoff is always worth the time and effort.
Its because the original Xenoblade is a masterpieceNow I'm seeing more 9's than I thought I would. O_O
Sounds like folks who've played this game are pretty impressed, despite the shortcomings in comparison to the original Xenoblade.
I would have loved her to be included too. Her and Fiora had such great voices.I wish Melia was an option as well (like in the Japanese version, if I recall correctly), but I guess Doctor Who took up much of her voice actress' time.
Thanks for keeping the OP updated ^_^
I formatted all of OpenCritic's reviews for neogaf's forum tags here: http://pastebin.com/mFGckFMY - feel free to grab any.
You've 4 types of sidequests :
- Kizuna quests (citizen quest) : which will bring depth to the story, lore and characters
- Fetch quests : to make money fast
- division quests : depending of the guild you choose to side with you will be ble to access different reward as equipements
- squad quest : 4 party players quests to go kill some big badies.
Kizuna quests are the most important since you can even ruin the life of an npc if you handled it badly, lol
But yes, like in any other game, you kill monster, get the loot or just find the loot mechanic.
There is no revolution here.
I hope at some point the DLC is there for Japanese VO's. Really so-so on the English VO currently.
Quoting this again, because i finished updateting the OP with all the quotes from here (except if i didn't quoted the reviewer already), and the Kotaku link.
i think i got everything covered now lol

Not really when it doesn't seem like the game for me.
I wanted a traditional RPG but they decided to try new things with this one but which is great IMO but stuff like compulsory boring collectable quests to continue the story and not getting the mechs until half way through the story is crazy I think
Dang. So it seems like the concensus is that the quests are repetitive? Was hoping that the gameplay would be more compelling than what the reviews I've read are saying...
Nah. I think the decision to give you a mech later in the game is one of the smarter choices. Assuming this is how it works, after the player has explored all they can horizontally, giving them a suit and opening the rest of the world on a vertical scale is super cool.
One problem i had with xenoblade is that after about 40 hours the fatigue started settling in even after rotating through all playable characters. From what i hear getting the mech is a pretty major event and will hopefully help keep the experience fresh.
